Just that really! We had a lovely DD aged 22 months and are feeling ready to try for a second DC. It took 5 cycles to get pregnant last time (both aged 30) albeit with 3 chemical pregnancies along the way. I'm now 33 and something tells me it will take me forever this time. I'm less fit now and we have a very boisterous DD who tires us out so DTD is far less appealing than life pre DD! I'd love to hear from anyone else in the same position so we can help each other along the way... Here's to a baby filled 2016!! X

Well I caved and tested...Negative. Still not feeling PMT though, but could be another 35+ day cycle so there's time yet. Ah well. At least I get to stick around with you ladies for a while longer!

From my experience this time and last of coming off the pill, I do not for one minute believe the claims that it's out of your system as soon as you stop taking it! I was clockwork 28 day cycle before I went on the pill. When I came off TTC DS (18mo) my cycles were all over the place and had to resort to OPKs to work out when I was ovulating. This time I've had a 36 a 24 and a 30 days and counting cycle.

OPKs now ordered, let's figure out what's going on with our cycles! DH finds it amusing. He didn't realise there was so much science behind it.

Good Luck everyone! Sure we'll all be an an antenatal thread together soon

ohidoliketobe · 02/01/2016 20:57

I know exactly what you mean kitkat when DS was going through the newborn screechy phase and me and DH were up all night looking stunned, I can just remember thinking why on earth did we think having children was a good idea?!
We laugh about it now, but a bit of me does think, despite having the experience of a colicky newborn, there's always the hormonal element to contend with as well, and I do get a bit anxious thinking about a 2nd DC. DS is at a great stage right now, chatty and so loving and well behaved... do I really want to rock the family dynamics we have?
Does anyone else think like this?!

Seacrown · 02/01/2016 21:21

So lovely to see so many people and hear all your stories! Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone!
Kitty I've spent my day looking at SMEP and after discussing it with oh, we're going to give it a try! Sounds like a great way to maximise your chance! Has anyone else had any experience with it?
Also, OPKs, I've got mine ordered ready for next week. Internet cheapies. How do you find they compare to the more expensive brands in anyone's opinion? I can't believe the difference in cost! I'm technically on maternity and trying to pay for our wedding so scraping by these next couple of months, not sure I can stretch to the digital ones if the Internet ones are ok?
Oh-boo! Still no sign of AF though? Keeping my fingers crossed

A little tidbit here, just been to tesco and they have 2 packs of FRER for £6.50, that's the cheapest I've seen on the high street if anyone wants to stock up
X

Cric · 02/01/2016 22:00

I just typed a reply and now it has gone! Angry

Cric · 02/01/2016 22:04

I deleted it again! What is is SMET AND FRER. I just got OPK from the pound shop... 5 for £1. No idea what to make of them yet though. Zebra.... Nosey question but when did your last period start? X

Cric · 02/01/2016 22:05

Haha I am used to writing texts and don't often post so added a kiss!

RememberToSmile1980 · 02/01/2016 22:06

I have noticed that my cycles range from 28 days to 31! I have been tracking them for the past 12 months as was sure they were changing ever so slightly.Surely that means they are irregular! They're always longer when I have been stressed!

RememberToSmile1980 · 02/01/2016 22:06

Also ladies what is FRER? Apologies I don't understand the different acronyms

Seacrown · 02/01/2016 22:09

FRER is first response early result tests. They seem to be viewed as some of the best for getting your results, but can be kind of pricey! Every little helps!

Cric · 02/01/2016 22:11

Is that for ovulation or pregnacy?

Seacrown · 02/01/2016 23:30

Pregnancy, apparently can test up to 6 days early, fertility friend rates their percentages as high from users who have inputted their test results on different days last ovulation X

kittyvet · 03/01/2016 00:01

seacrown tell your OH he is braver than mine :) we might go for it next month but it's difficult with work hours.
I think the cheapies work just fine. Certainly the pregnancy ones do- that's how I got my BFP with my DD. I only use a CBFM because I can use FMU and later in the day it would be more difficult to test.
Those of your new to TTC the abbreviations drive you mad to begin with but you will soon pick them up! Fertility Friend has a good list in its documents pages.

kittyvet · 03/01/2016 00:02

Ps thanks for the tip seacrown was in tesco today but might pop in tomorrow to stock up!

EnglishExpatUSA · 03/01/2016 03:22

Hi all may I join you? We have a 6month old dd (teddy massive similarities to you - I am 32 and we want a big family and small gaps!) I stopped bf on 17th dec and got a positive opk 5 days ago so hoping that we caught the first egg, though who knows if I actually ovulated as I haven't had a period for over a year! Conceived first time last time, but have also heard lots about secondary infertility and it is worrying. Fingers crossed and baby dust to all x

Songsandstitches · 03/01/2016 10:44

Hmmm- we appear to have hit a snag. Apparently DH isn't sure that he is ready to start trying again yet. Totally floored as we have been saying since the summer that we'll start trying again in the new year. Surely this is the new year. Off for a walk to feed the ducks now so sm going to try and get to the bottom of it. I really don't want to wait any longer! Anyone else feel they are driving this and DH / DP less keen? X

RememberToSmile1980 · 03/01/2016 11:25

Yes - my OH is ok with DS only. However I have worked on him and he seems to be ok now. He is a bit of a control freak and wanted things done first such as move house etc, let DS be older as it was hard when he was a baby. Don't worry - just speak to him and get to the bottom of it. Thinking of you x

Bikey86 · 03/01/2016 12:16

ohido I feel the same as you, remember those newborn days too well and I am a little scared of doing it again.. My DH has been desperate for another baby since DS was very little. I am anxious after a difficult labour and a difficult first few months but it flies so fast. I am also worried about how I will cope with two DC!!

Cric · 03/01/2016 13:30

It would be so much easier if TTC was easy.... Then you could just decide on the exact date together!!

ZebraCrossing007 · 03/01/2016 13:36

Cric - not too nosey. Was 23rd Dec!

Cric · 03/01/2016 13:37

Mine came on the 26th.... I had a little cry and then cracked open a bottle of wine!

Seacrown · 03/01/2016 13:46

Songsandstitches I'm so sorry to hear that. It's strange isn't it how you think and feel one thing and then they can be on a different page without you realising! Did he give any reasons why? Hope you are ok! My oh was nervous, after what happened with our boy, but we've agreed new year to start. The thing that seemed to get through to him is that trying doesn't mean instant conception it instant baby. It's probably going to be a long road, but if we don't try it will be even longer. We've made a pact to talk through all the stages, whereas last time I did most of the planning-Bd and testing etc- in my own head! Don't know if this helps at all. TTC can be quite lonely I've found even though there's two people involved!

Bikey86 · 04/01/2016 16:26

So sorry to hear that songs. Have you managed to talk more to DH about this? to see why he has changed his mind?

KitKat1985 · 04/01/2016 20:17

Echoing previous posters in some sympathy vibes songs. Did you manage to talk to your DH? What in particular is he anxious about? x

RememberToSmile1980 · 04/01/2016 20:50

Hi ladies
Was my first day back after the Xmas break today! I am wiped out!
Anyhow my cycle has not been a constant 28 days over the last 12 months. It has ranged from 25 to 33 days at the longest. I'm confused what to put down as an average cycle when trying to work out fertile daysConfused

RememberToSmile1980 · 04/01/2016 20:52

Just to add I used to be very regular at 28 days but it's gone funny recently! It is really getting to me and I see it as a bad sign that my cycle has changed so much! Anyone else have similar issues?
