english what is pre seed??

tinypawz I'm impressed at your stamina!! We can only ever manage once in one session and feel rather smug when we manage a few days on the trot lol!!

speaking of which, last month we dtd every day for 4 days but peaked too soon!! when I actually ovulated on the 5th day (a couple days later than expected) it was first day back at work after Xmas and we were knackered and just cldnt get round to it!! I had hoped we had done enough and there might still be enough little swimmers in there floating around to catch the egg, but no joy.

So this month we are changing tactics. I'm going for the SMEP method! Dtd every other day throughout the month but then every day for 3 days after positive opk. I did read somewhere saying dtd every day for a prolonged period can reduce the quality of semen?! I.e. He will have less sperm per ejaculate and it can be a good idea to do every other day just to help build up the numbers!! Sounds feasible and after failing last month (again) we are giving it a go.x

EnglishExpatUSA · 19/01/2016 01:50

House and Lucinda pre-seed is a fertility- friendly lube, but you use an applicator to apply it, ahem, right up there! It helps the swimmers (esp if you are lacking in EWCM). I swear by it because I used it first time around and was successful the first month! EPO is evening primrose oil caplets (which you swallow) and is supposed to give you more EWCM. Can't hurt eh? Day 2 of 5 DTD complete!

EnglishExpatUSA · 19/01/2016 01:53

I also worry about peaking too soon, if I don't ov on cd14 it's going to be a struggle to keep it up!!

Havetobecrazytolivehere · 19/01/2016 08:57

Aw TinyPaws your posts made me smile. I remember a time bc when we used to dtd more than once per session. Now more than once a week is considered a special occasion! We do have 3dcs and both work ft so very little time together unless we're asleep. I got my +OPKs on Sunday and Monday and have been dtd every other day before that, managed sun night and last night but think I need to dtd again tonight at least to be in with a chance. Does anyone know when ovulation actually happens after +OPKs as I would hate to miss it after this much dtd? I am finding that I get a sort of tender feeling in my lower stomach now around ov never noticed it before. Hope it is a good sign!

GiraffesCantDoMentalArithmetic · 19/01/2016 11:02

Tinypawz we haven't had sex more than once a day (let alone per session) since we were 19. Kudos to you!!!

To be honest, I struggle with being arsed to DTD (low libido) but my dh is well up for it!

I read some research a while back, which looked at the immune response of women to sperm 'invaders'. Apparently, regular sex (including outside the fertile window) significantly reduced the amount of 'sperm fighting' the women's bodies did. Technical, huh??? The original article was much more factual, but based on quite a small study so not necessarily accurate. I shall be heroic, though, and attempt at least one pre-window session each cycle. I DTD last night, so that's me covered. Fertile window predicted tomorrow, with ovulation at the end of the week.

I am now peeing on OPKs once a day, which is at least exciting, and temping each morning (which has been a PITA with ill kids waking me up at random times).

GiraffesCantDoMentalArithmetic · 19/01/2016 11:05

weechops I've not noticed an increase in EWCM yet - were you at the normal point in your cycle to get it, iyswim? Plus, I've only taken one each day - is there a recommended dose? I do seem to have much less EWCM than I did when I was ttc dd2 so it would be good if I could increase it.

GiraffesCantDoMentalArithmetic · 19/01/2016 11:09

havetobe I OPK and temp, and usually get two consecutive days of positive OPKs. My temping seems to suggest I ov on the day of the second OPK, but it could vary from person to person. I wouldn't think you'd get a positive OPK until ov was imminent though, so I would say ov was today at the latest for you. Definitely DTD tonight! (Feeling slightly voyeuristic now....) Do you temp as well?

houseHuntinginmanchester · 19/01/2016 13:52

Ah, pre-seed and EPO sound good, must get myself some for next month!

Feeling absolutely shitty today. Very pmsy Sad lightheaded, nauseous, moody and knackered Sad period due in two days and I do tend to get awful pms. Which means no BFP this month then. Oh well.

bluebunnyblue · 19/01/2016 14:14

Hi all. Can I join? AF arrived (very early) yesterday so now looking for a BFP in Feb.

Still bfeeding and cycles are all over the place - 53, 30 and 23 days so far!

Age 35
Ttc #2 (Dd 15m)
Cycle 2
Cycle day 2
Etd ??Depends on cycle length?

MiniLop · 19/01/2016 19:54

Hi everyone, jumping aboard the Feb bus as I'm pretty sure AF has just arrived.
Here's my stats:
MiniLop
Age 27
TTC #2 (DS 11 months)
Cycle 3
CD1
AF/BFP due 20th Feb?

Havetobecrazytolivehere · 19/01/2016 21:14

Welcome to the bus Mini, just realised this is my 5th bus : (
No I've never done temping before Giraffes, not sure what it involves but might give it a go next cycle. Have brought EPO but not taken it yet have been trying the cough medicine but have a cold anyway. Really have ran out of steam dtd and DH did say he was worn out but can usually be persuaded. Think I did ov today as had sensitive nipples, but then never noticed this before either, ttc does send me a bit mad!

GiraffesCantDoMentalArithmetic · 19/01/2016 21:38

havetobe I use FertilyFriend and the tutorials on there sorted me out with charting my temps.

And I take back what I said about not noticing an increase in EWCM. Tmi, but wow. Shock

weechops · 19/01/2016 21:56

giraffes usually I don't see ewcm til a couple days before ov. I took the epo days 7-11 and got a ton starting from day8!!

I stopped taking them because I realised if ov came forward a day, like it's done before, then I was risking dh missing next ov dates! And it bloody did come forward! So now my plan is to completely stress myself out so I delay ovulation next cycle 😂

Lucinda15 · 19/01/2016 22:17

weechops giraffes I'm not having as much luck with the epo. started taking on cd6 - now on cd8 and no change (no cm at the mo!) hope something happens soon!! Have the cough medicine at the ready too...think the TTC madness got me!! Blush

Celen · 20/01/2016 07:33

Sorry to see you hear Minilop but welcome Smile

firstgo1984 · 20/01/2016 09:08

I'm jumping over from thd Jan bus as I am having another long post-pill cycle.

Firstgo
TTC#1 since August
Age 31
Cycle 3
Cycles since stopping Microgynon 38, 32, 48 and 77 days.

CD 27 today with no signs of ovulation
On Agnus castus now and trying dismally to be patient.

Doing opks and monitoring CM. Ovulated CD64 last cycle (positive opk, lots of ewcm, lots of luteal phase symptoms then AF).

Going to try and get bloods at thd beginning of next cycle to rule out pcos.

MiniLop · 20/01/2016 09:12

Thanks Celen, the only positive is I think I leaned a lot about my cycle last month so hopefully I can use that knowledge to get my BFP this month! How are you getting on? Any sign of ov?
Hi first, fx you get your ov soon!

houseHuntinginmanchester · 20/01/2016 12:07

What's an opk guys and do I need one ?

MiniLop · 20/01/2016 12:36

House an OPK is an ovulation prediction kit. It can help you to tell when you're ovulating by detecting a hormone (LH) surge. You don't need to use them, I conceived DS without using them at all. This time my cycles are a mess from having DS (only on my 3rd AF after giving birth) so it helps me to tell when I'm ovulating!

Havetobecrazytolivehere · 20/01/2016 14:09

Pretty sure ov happened yesterday so here I am starting tww, not sure if I should squeeze in one more dtd for luck but DH is starting to think I am overdoing it! Spent 20 mins last night with pillow under bum claiming it was for my bad back! Think AF is due 1st Feb so ages to wait, how to keep busy in the meantime....

snowy1982 · 20/01/2016 14:13

Age 33
TTC #1
Cycles 12+

On CD23 so half way through the dreaded TWW, for some reason I'm not feeling very positive this month, although that might be a good thing. Finally got docs referral for testing so just had day 21 bloods this week and waiting on results.

KitKat1985 · 20/01/2016 18:00

Hello all! Just joining now as kicked off January bus today by AF. So my stats are:
Age: 30
DH age: 34
TTC #2 (DD is 16 months).
Cycle 2.

Lucinda15 · 20/01/2016 18:14

So just had my scan this arvo - turns out I have polycystic ovaries. Not really sure what that means at this stage?! Confused but gather it means I may not ovulate every month. Waiting to see GP to discuss further. Know lots of people have it and have had babies etc etc but bit of a blow and quite disappointed. Anyone have this or any experience of conceiving with it?

latinata · 20/01/2016 18:39

Hello lovely ladies. Lucinda- so sorry to hear you had unwanted news this afternoon :-(

I'm TTC #1, cycle #1, age 30. Living overseas (because of my work) and feeling a little out of the 'lady loop' (is that a thing?!). Reading through this thread made me laugh out loud and feel amazed that a community like this exists, especially as I don't have any friends TTC.

On CD20, attempting SMEP (fairly short window for me before falling pregnant turns into an HR car crash) but no positive OPK yet, despite lots of EWCM and plenty of DTD. Or something like that. New to all of these acronyms!

Greetings all!

Celen · 20/01/2016 19:03

Lucinda one of my clsest friends has PCOS and she's had no trouble conceiving two ds's over the last 5 years. I do hope you get more substantial and relevant info though and I expect there are lots of MNers with the same condition. Big hugs though, must feel like a bit of a blow Sad
