A couple of years ago I was told I was borderline PCO (but not PCOS), my day 2-3 and day 21 were all borderline too. My cycle length (32-34) varies so it was tricky to get say 21 on the correct day. However for a few months I've been doing Opks from cd17-23 and pretty much always get a strong positive for two days around cd18/19. I'm well aware that PCOS gives false positives but how likely is it that this happens every month on the correct day? Or would you say that it's likely that I do actually ovulate? Im currently being referred for further tests bit tbh everyone has been a bit shite that I've dealt with so far. So am trying to arm myself with more information.

Quick one for you; if your cycle is over 30 days long you shouldn't have d21 bloods done on d21 of your cycle, you should have bloods done 7 days pre-af (so for a 35 day cycle, you should have bloods done on d28 of your cycle) as they are looking for increased levels of progesterone which happen after ovulation but then drop if you don't conceive. They say d21 bloods so that, on a 28 day cycle with ovulation around d14, there will have been sufficient time for progesterone levels to go up after ovulation but not so close to af to be dropping again.

Yes this month I had all the tests redone on the correct days (day 28) and they were all totally normal. Which is great. But I'm still unsure about Opks being correct or giving false +ves?

What opks are you using? I have tried different ones - I am a fan of the One Pregnancy test strips that you can get online - but I always do a parallel one before starting a new brans except once when I used the Boots test strip ones... Which I do not like!

Do you chart your bbt? That would be better at telling you if you're ovulating. OPKs can only tell you if your body is producing the hormone (or hormones depending what type of OPK you're using) that cause ovulation, not whether it has happened.

I tried bbt but I work funny shifts starting very early sometimes and so it wakes my Dh.

Do you have to do it at the same time every day? Or just immediately when you wake?

TTC is really hard work! Ideally temping should be at the same time every day, but I used to work shifts so woke up at different times, it meant my chart was a bit all over the place but fertility friend still managed to pick up when I ovulated.
