Brilliant news drttc and seeking!! So pleased for you both.

Sorry to hear about your kidney seeking but must be relief they know what it is and it's not affecting baby.

billy15 · 05/04/2016 16:46

snoopy sounds like a good job you went to the docs - are you gona take their advice? How many weeks are you now?

seeking thanks for the offer of DHEA I may well take you up on that - Im gona do a bit of research and prob ask Louise (I think I asked before but cant remember what she said!). I'll let you know. Thanks you. And congrats on today x

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 05/04/2016 17:20

Wonderful news about the scans. So so so pleased for you both! Grin

Ah seeking that would definitely explain the pain. I remember having a kidney infection at university, I was hallucinating with the pain and I , erm, kind of projectile committed at the GP, not my finest hour Blush but good on them for checking it for you. Did they mention any treatment?

billy the ongoing saga of maternity leave continues. But I think I've worked out that I can go on the 3rd May and and combined with remote working that would only mean six more days in the office. I'm 34+ 2.

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 05/04/2016 17:21

Damn predictive text... That should obviously say vomitted not committed!

Drttc · 05/04/2016 17:23

Thanks ladies! Have been given the all clear! As I don't have a fever, nothing dangerous in my urine sample, and my blood pressure is good- I'm not symptomatic of a water infection. Diagnosis: Pregnancy pains! Likely my organs being squished :( Ouchhhhies! Thought I'd let everyone know in case anything similar happens to someone else.

Drttc · 05/04/2016 17:25

Ah snoopy just read your comment- it's meeee with the dodgy kidney lol! No treatment for me, just watching out for symptoms. Hurts like a you know what!

Drttc · 05/04/2016 17:26

And woohoo for 6 more days in the office Snoopy! More time to chat with us ;)

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 05/04/2016 18:07

Haha I spend enough time mooching around here as it is! I don't know what it is about the kidneys, when something happens to them they are the most excruciatingly painful organs!

Seekingmiracles · 05/04/2016 19:57

Thank you ladies! Smile
Well to be honest Drttc, because most of my close friends know about the miscarriages I've already told them. My parents have known since 6 weeks and we told DHs dad on Monday. So once I've had the NT results back I'll tell any close friends that don't yet know. And everyone else as and when I see them. I most excited to tell my nieces - they've been desperate for a cousin since we got married.
I'm so glad your anomaly scan went well AND that you don't have any kidney issues! Grin Sorry you still have the pain though... It really is the WORST!!

Drttc · 06/04/2016 09:06

That makes perfect sense Seeking! I so used to being super secretive all the time about this- announcing actually made me feel very vulnerable Blush Excited to hear about your nuchal scan! Dare you to ask them to take a peek at gender ;) If it's a boy they may see a little something!!

Seekingmiracles · 06/04/2016 09:29

I'm not sure I want to know what the sex is... I swing from really wanting to know - more for practicality and then wanting the surprise. I think it'll be a spare of the moment thing. But Ive got a feeling (completely irrational) that it's a girl.

Tumtimes1 · 06/04/2016 10:23

Hey ya, I am going to see if they can see the baby's gender tomorrow. I think its a girl but we really don't mind what we have, just curious to know. :-)
I too feel v vulnerable telling people so we have only told very few indeed. We ideally want to leave it to 20 weeks x
xxx

Drttc · 06/04/2016 11:13

Seeking- I actually was completely caught off guard when the sonography offered to give his opinion on the sex. Suddenly I couldn't resist knowing everything I could about that baby lol!

I thought (and so did most people) mine was a girl too btw... I think everyone was pretty surprised about it being a boy. Not sure what that means about how they see me lol!

Good luck Tumtimes! How many weeks are you again? Yes, healthy baby takes priority over everything!

Tumtimes1 · 06/04/2016 13:21

Hiya Drttc I will be 16 weeks on Saturday.. Thanks very much indeed I will let you know how it goes x

Seekingmiracles · 06/04/2016 20:07

I really have no preference either! Boy or girl I'll be ecstatic! GrinGrin

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 07/04/2016 13:10

Oh my god I could scream Angry how have work managed to screw up my maternity leave when I'm 35 weeks this weekend?!?!?! I can't deal with this anymore.

I have to say I always thought I wouldn't want to know the sex, but when it started looking like this little one would make it I couldn't help it, DH has already said he hopes she's not as stubborn as I am or we could be in for some epic teenage battles

Tumtimes1 · 08/04/2016 09:32

Hey all! Sorry for the delay - the scan went well so far so good. It was a full anomaly scan at 16 weeks owing to my dodgy nuchal results. And all looks normal so that was great. I will be having another anomaly scan at 20 weeks as per usual and a heart scan on the baby too (I have a heart issue history).

They said 65% girl! Which is what we suspected!

Hope all is well with everyone. x

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 08/04/2016 10:00

Yeah tumtimes!!! Congratulations! And another girl!

Seekingmiracles · 08/04/2016 11:14

That's wonderful news tumtimes SmileSmile

Oh snoopy.. Why are your work being such arses!!! Really feel for you! Must be so frustrating!!!

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 08/04/2016 11:37

seeking it's so upsetting. Every time I speak to DH on the phone he says I sound stressed and he's worried about me. I'm just so tired, they still haven't reduced my hours even though my doctor requested it at the end of January and they are trying to pressurise me into using annual leave instead.

tumtimes when are you due, so exciting!!!

Tumtimes1 · 08/04/2016 13:38

snoopy if your doc is requesting you reduce your hours they should have to comply. My doctor has also altered my hours and I started immediately. Sounds like what they are doing is illegal:?

I am due in September - will be around the 16th as I have to have a planned c section at 38/39 weeks xxx

Seekingmiracles · 08/04/2016 13:38

Snoopy you have rights.... They can't force you to take annual leave. You're in the police aren't you?? Or am I making that up??

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 08/04/2016 14:22

tumtimes 16th September is my birthday, a very fine day indeed haha

seeking I am a police officer. They like to portray themselves as this modern, understanding employer but the truth is they are stuck in the dark ages. None of the systems or procedures work properly and they treat their officers and staff like dirt. Funnily enough now that I've started making noises about putting in a formal complaint they're starting to see the err of their ways.

annaif · 08/04/2016 14:33

hi ladies, I am only just seeing all the messages from the past two weeks.
Congratulations seeking and drttc with with good scan results, hugely important milestones reached! Really good start to the year so far :)

And snoopy, I'd say sod your work people because stressing you out like that is illegal and immoral. If anything adverse was to happen due to increased stress levels (which is NOT but follow my trail of thought here) then you can sue their sorry arses big time, so can you not try and drop a hint that your doctor is advising you to take it easy and to reduce work related stress as a precaution? Surely there must be a reasonable HR person around?

Lisachick, any news?

And Billy, how are you doing?

Karryk, only saw your post about thyroxine use, how high are your TSH levels hon? 10 sounds phenomenally high, mine are 5.6 as of last year and I've been put on 50mcg of thyroxine, which was doubled after my 6 weeks' repeat blood test as the TSH level was not budging....I presume you're talking about hypothyroidism as opposed to hyper? My private endocrinologist first prescribed it to me but when I took the blood tests to my GP she immediately gave me an NHS prescription (which is free incidentally, as you become exempt from paying if you have an ongoing diagnosed thyroid condition) and it was all straight forward. The TSH needs to go as close to 2.5 and Dr S wants to drop it to below 2.5 before ttc again.
Can he not prescribe it for you if your GP is not playing ball?

waves to everyone else

annaif · 08/04/2016 14:41

I also got my full Dr S results and report back recently and have a niggling question.
I have normal NK cells and activity but the cytotoxicity assay is high at 35% with a "good response to intralipids and IVIG"
So he suggested I get put on his complex NK cells treatment plan which consists of 25mcg pred from ttc, Progesterone and Intralipids from BFP and heparin (due to prior late loss and smallish placenta finding in the PM)

I am sure that when I looked at the stats during the consultation, I saw that I had better response to IVIG and queried as to why he suggests Intralipids and not IVIG and he said that they are much cheaper than IVIG, natural plant based as opposed to human blood product base and that I have a good response to them too.

My worry is that maybe it won't be enough to do Intralipids and that the "complex NK plan" sounds suspiciously similar to the basic NK plan (I think someone in this thread recently described it and it was very similar to the complex one)

I know I am being crazy and borderline paranoid but could it possibly be that some docs may give us advice which may not necessarily work first time around, only so that we pay more money for scans, privately prescribed drugs, consultations etc? I honestly don't know how we could cope with another mc, especially after throwing so much money to it and strong medication to me....
I am being crazy, right?

Also, could someone maybe sumarise the Dr S plans and what their key differences are?
thank you so much x
