I'm using cheapy OPKs too. I can't decide if they're a help or a hinderance though. I think I just like having a stick to pee on. I'm trying not to do any early HPTs so doing OPKs fulfils the need! I don't start them until I get EWCM though then do 2 (or more!) a day. I'm a bit of a planner control freak like soda. I also find it absolutely fascinating understanding my cycle better and watching how my body works so am enjoying it from that point of view. My DS alarm wakes me anytime from five AM so I keep forgetting to temp. Took my first one today and probably last for another week.

goldenpineapple · 13/12/2015 10:04

soda I'm not temping atm although I am familiar with it as I used it as contraception for a few months after I had my coil taken out and before we got married. So I'm pretty familiar with my cycle - and I find it such a pain to remember taking the reading at the same time every day that I don't know if I could do it again. It is very interesting though isn't it, and can see why it would help with ttc.

first and mama good to see more votes for the cheapies! fx they arrive in time through the silly christmas post! totally with you on just having a stick to pee on (could you ever have imagined yourself saying this pre-ttc?!)

hi nutty - snap! i've also been ttc my first since september and been with my now husband nearly 13 years. sorry to hear af got you too. it seems like such a long time already doesn't it. so frustrating. imagine long cycles make it seem even more of a wait.

kitty oh no, at least now you know you can have a festive drink and fx for 2016.

MiniLop · 13/12/2015 13:28

Hi kitty sorry to see you here on the Jan bus. Fx we both have a successful cycle 2!

kittyvet · 13/12/2015 13:31

I am making mulled wine and brandy laced mince pies this afternoon to make up for AF being here!
I am finding the temping helpful to keep track of my cycle and using an old style fertility monitor. I found OPK really hard to use with work but the monitor easy as I POAS first thing.

kittyvet · 13/12/2015 13:36

Yes Mini! Bummer for both of us! Hoping for a more successful time this month but as family staying in my fertile time might be difficult to get enough BD in!

Havetobecrazytolivehere · 13/12/2015 16:32

Hi everyone. On CD9 now and starting to get real nervous. After my mc last month I have felt really sure I still want to ttc but have started to have serious doubts the past few days. Me and DH are knackered, we both work ft, next week is packed with plays, school discos and meetings, every weekend is packed. I am constantly grumpy with the kids, starting to think 4th would be a really bad idea. Sorry I feel so lucky to have 3 already let alone the chance to consider a 4th. Need a lot longer than a week off this Chirstmas. What is wrong with me?

wellthatdidntgotoplan · 13/12/2015 17:53

Have to be crazy what is 'wrong' with you is that you had a mc last month and no one - not even superwoman recovers emotionally from that so quickly. There are bound to be up and down days and you are bound to have doubts. Be kind to yourself and your family and take your time. Now please excuse me while I go and look for my black kettle and teapot and see if I can take some of my own advice 😆😆

weechops · 14/12/2015 07:18

Hi all. I was on the December bus but I've realised I'll be testing round about January 2nd doh!!
havetobe I'm ttc #4 too. I'm sorry about your mc. It definitely takes time to 'get over' that. I mc before my first baby and ttc straight away. I think it helped me.
I am so so excited this morning. Dh works abroad and wasn't due home til Thursday night but he changed his flight and he's getting back Wednesday afternoon now yay!
cd11 today so I'm going to start using my cheapy ov sticks later.

Curlywurly4 · 14/12/2015 07:32

I agree with well that it's early days. I felt really unsure about trying again after my MC in Oct. My pregnancies are awful and I struggle function, I felt hugely guilty for DS. A few weeks on and I was so gutted when AF arrived again.

Only CD5 today...gosh it's going slowly! Have used Amazon cheapies a too and found them reliable. I have a CBFM which is a bit ancient but still ongoing strong. How is everyone?

Sodasoda · 14/12/2015 08:55

Morning, bleurgh to Monday's!

I'm CD11 today and my fertility monitor gave me a 'low' reading so looks like I'll be ovulating late again this month. Quite glad really as DH and I are socialising a lot this week and will struggle to DTD a lot. Will be much easier over the weekend and into next week when we're on holiday.

Hope everyone is ok and had nice weekends xx

Annarose2014 · 14/12/2015 17:01

So i'm being referred to a consultant for my low progesterone. Ugh!

In the meantime I'll carry on as normal but its a bit disheartening for this month knowing I quite possibly won't ovulate.

My GP is going to ask for a quick appt given my ancientness. Hope it'll be Jan or Feb. But she said that plenty of people have gotten pregnant whilst waiting on an appt so I guess I have to keep up my spirits!

BindiBarbarella · 14/12/2015 18:15

Positive OPK today bit earlier than expected. DTD yesterday and will be as soon as I get in tonight. Hope I catch this eggy!!

mamaneedsamojito · 14/12/2015 19:23

I POAS on an OPK too soda but not a sausage. I only did it for fun really, no EWCM yet so O is probably a good week away for me yet. Confused

weechops · 14/12/2015 20:04

annarose you're totally not ancient! That's really good though that your gp is pushing the referral quickly.

bindi ooh fx for you!

Annarose2014 · 14/12/2015 22:42

Yes I luuurrrrrve my GP. She's receptive to everything, quick to refer and you can always get an appointment within 2/3 days.

I actually suspect my low progesterone isn't sudden onset or age related as I've had hormonal imblances all my adult life with lots of menorragia etc. I just never did these blood tests before.

But if my age gets me an earlier appt then pass me the Zimmer frame!

Celen · 15/12/2015 14:55

Grumpily boarding as AF just arrived Angry

Started the year getting over an MC, fell pregnant, then had a MMC and had to have two ERPCs to deal with it, so 2016 best be a kinder year to me

mamaneedsamojito · 15/12/2015 18:40

Welcome Celen. It's a shame you had to join us but help yourself to a mulled wine and a boozy mince pie Thanks

cnchapmanxx · 15/12/2015 19:10

Hi guys! Can I jump on!
Ttc #1 came off the mini pill after 3 years. 11th Nov had a withdrawal bleed from 14th - 17th had positive opk on the 30th 1st Dec, but AF has shown her head today [santa] hoping to ov end of the month again and catch the January Bfp bus!
How is everyone and good look for 2016 least we can all have a merry Christmas xxx

Celen · 15/12/2015 19:45

Thanks mama & cn

ScottishGirlx · 15/12/2015 19:59

Can I please mark my place too? We are TTC #1 and this is cycle number 3. I'm 27. Smile

Came off the pill in Sept after about 10 years and feeling like my body is a bit all over the place at the mo. Last two af's lasting only about 2-3 days however I had about 5 days of spotting prior to it arriving. Tried OPKs last cycle and got a smiley on day 18 so I presume that's good news that I'm ovulating. Cycles are generally lasting 32/33 days.

Fingers crossed for lots of January BFPs! I'm on CD6 at the moment so a while to wait Hmm

Good luck to all you lovely ladies x

kittyvet · 15/12/2015 21:00

Sorry to see you have joined us celen... This is the month!

GuessHowMuch · 15/12/2015 22:47

Sorry to see you joining us Celen - hopefully January is the month. A couple of people have mentioned that they are using the old style CBFM - I'm sure I have one of these kicking around somewhere but when I researched the pee sticks I couldn't find any reasonably priced. Anyone have any tips where to buy them please? CD12 for me and a nearly positive OPK woohoo!

Curlywurly4 · 16/12/2015 07:31

Hello to those joining. Celen sorry you had such a tough year, fingers crossed 2016 is better for you.

I bought some CBFM sticks from Amazon but don't recommend them as they came with a short expiry, so I've stuck with Boots. Might start the SMEP today. Only CD8 but want to get going!

kittyvet · 16/12/2015 07:37

guess I bought some from Amazon but when they arrived they were the advanced ones. They can with a sticker on saying you can use the advanced sticks in the old monitor and I since checked on the CB site and it says this there too. Going to give them a try this month!

GuessHowMuch · 16/12/2015 22:12

Oh I didn't know that kitty - thanks. Might grab some from Boots in the New Year if this cycle doesn't produce a BFP.
