Annarose I've been where you are, it can feel very disheartening. Even from people who know we've had MCs seem to ask stupid questions "do you think you'll try again?" Yes you fucking muppet but biology takes time!!

mamaneedsamojito · 20/12/2015 13:34

Hooray, a very +ve OPK today, it was darker than the test line and a couple of days earlier than I expected. Today is CD15 and I was expecting to get to at least CD17/18 before Ov. Going to try SMEP this time. My mum came and took DS out for half an hour Wink. She is a total legend!

MiniLop · 20/12/2015 14:36

Brill news mama!! Fx this is your month! Does your mum know why she is such a legend?! Grin

mamaneedsamojito · 20/12/2015 14:38

Yes, mini, I didn't know how else to engineer it other than to tell her. The shame! Grin

Celen · 20/12/2015 15:28

Every time you post you crack me up mama Xmas Grin Gawd bless your mum Xmas Smile

Happy getting jiggy with it!

Celen · 20/12/2015 15:31

A question about the cheap ov sticks please everyone?

What time do you POAS?
How long do you "hold" for?
At what point do you not drink anything for concentrated pee?!

I need to embrace the cheap stocks but I tend to want to hydrate so I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place! Xmas Hmm

mamaneedsamojito · 20/12/2015 16:00

Haha, I know Celen, it's ridiculous. Hoping this is our month so DC gets an embarrassing conception story for us all to enjoy over the years!

I've been using cheap OPKs and don't really actively hold my pee. I've taken three today at roughly 2 hourly intervals and all seem to have worked well enough to get a result because my dark line has gotten progressively lighter which is what I expected to see. I'm supposed to be out tonight but DS has been ill for the last 48hrs so I think it'll be a night in with ice cream and my bed instead.

weechops · 20/12/2015 18:33

mama go on your mum!! Loving that you can be so open with her Smile

celen I usually pee about 11ish then every 2 hours or when I remember, last one being around 5ish. Never really thought about not drinking much oops! But they've still worked fine for me.

Cd17 and the line got really faint yesterday so I'm counting myself as 2dpo. Let the craziness of symptom spotting begin!

Cerrone85 · 20/12/2015 19:44

Argh just wrote a long reply and it disappeared. Guess I'm on cycle day 26 but I haven't had a +ve opk this month so think I'm going to chuck out the test strips and just dtd every second day next cycle. Trying not to obsess too much but it's impossible!

Bug i haven't used conceive plus but it can't hurt, I've just been taking folic acid.

Sodasoda · 20/12/2015 19:48

mama that's brilliant! Fingers crossed she'll get her reward with another grandchild Wink

celen as others have said I don't make a conscious to hold wee before using the cheap OPKs and they've always worked fine for me. I think they advise not to use FMU with them.

weechops - we're cycle buddies! I'm CD17 too and ovulated on CD15! We can be mad together Smile

Cerrone85 · 20/12/2015 19:48

Oh and Celen I've been just using the opk sticks anytime during the day but not using the first urine of the day

Sodasoda · 20/12/2015 19:50

Oh bug - I use pre-seed which I think is the same idea. I quite like it. I find it good if I need a little help if we're DTD a lot around fertile time Blush But they recommend inserting with applicators and when I did that there was Way too much!

MiniLop · 20/12/2015 19:58

I'm CD10 today so will start testing with OPKs tomorrow as last month was such a weird long cycle, not really sure what's going on at the moment!
Interesting to hear you're not supposed to use FMU with OPKs, I did when trying to figure out when first ov/AF would be after having DS and I got 2 days of very dark lines using FMU, 2 weeks later first AF arrived. Perhaps this month I'll try FMU then one around midday each day?

kittyvet · 20/12/2015 21:48

I am not far behind you mini! It's CD9 tomorrow and will start monitor sticks and looking for mucus tomorrow. Hoping ovulation will be later this month or DH and I will be doing some VERY quiet DTD with a house full of guests over Christmas!

kittyvet · 20/12/2015 21:56

Guys I just had to google SMEP as I didn't know what it was and respect if you are doing that! Will def consider it for the new year of any of you get a BFP on it!

MiniLop · 20/12/2015 22:32

Kitty if I ov on CD 14 that will be xmas eve, which is fine, xmas day we have the in laws here, Boxing Day we're with my parents ShockGrin not sure how we'll manage that! Might get them to look after DS and claim we need a nap as "he's been up all night teething!" Wink
I remember looking up SMEP when TTC DS. Isn't it just DTD EOD? Can't really remember now... Off to google it!
(Too many acronyms in that last sentence, sorry!!)

KateMossIsMyQueen · 20/12/2015 23:20

Olah! First month TTC, no previous babies, I have PCOS but since losing 3.5 stone 4 years ago my periods have been fairly regular, so long as I'm not stressed and stay at my 'goal' weight.

DH is in the Navy and away all the time so we've already accepted it could take a while purely because it's impossible to get up the duff if you're on opposite sides of the bloody country / planet. He should be home every weekend till May, then fort nightly after that.

And to kick things off... he's been home for a week, AF due Jan 1st, so hoping for a potential Xmas day BFP, but also know that would be TREMENDOUSLY jammy and ambitious. First time I've ever hoped for a sober NYE! Good Luck everyone!

KateMossIsMyQueen · 20/12/2015 23:26

Hold on, rereading everyone's messages, was planning on being a super keeno with a first response test a week before AF, but is that a waste of time? I have a pack of cheapo Amazon ones I've collected for the odd pregnant scare when I've missed a period / been late, thought I'd splash out as it's the festive season and all!

weechops · 21/12/2015 11:09

soda yay a cycle buddy. Fx for our bfp's!

katemoss I know how you feel (sort of) Dh works abroad for 3 months at a time so I'm desperately hoping I get upduffed this cycle since he's here at the right time for once!
Oh and FRER tests you can use 6 days before af I think. I also have a stack of Cheapies. Think I'll use them up first 😄

Sodasoda · 21/12/2015 12:05

weechops Grin Are you an early tester? I'm not planning on testing unless AF is late. I have 14 day LP so due 2 Jan so I won't be testing until 3 Jan. which suits me anyway as I'll be with my family or the in laws until 3 Jan anyway!

katemoss welcome. Re early testing - it's really up to you. A FRER may pick it up a week early but that really is very early. I'd try and hold out a bit longer if you can. I guess it depends whether you can cope with getting BFN when it might be BFP if you test later? I hate getting BFN so don't bother testing any more - unless AF is late. Which she never is. The bitch!!

Bugmuncher · 21/12/2015 12:43

soda that's a good idea. I don't think I'll have ever had so much DTD in my life but I'm a bit of a planner and organiser so anything to increase chances and reduce the waiting and wondering is worth trying for me. DH was extremely pleased when I told him about SMEP!

weechops · 21/12/2015 12:44

soda I wish I had your willpower!! Though I get it, af is marginally better then holding out for the elusive bfp for days. Maybe I just like torturing myself 😂 I'll probably start testing on the 28th which is 10dpo. All my other pregnancies I've seen a super faint line then before a bfp.

So 3dpo and I have raging thirst. Symptom??😄

mamaneedsamojito · 21/12/2015 12:56

How long does everyone get positive OPKs for? I've had them for 24 hours now (POAS 5 times!)

Annarose2014 · 21/12/2015 13:00

So I bought 100mg Vit B6 and also some Calcium/Magnesium 500/250mg just cos I heard Magnesium regulates estrogen. God knows if its true but I figure it won't do me any harm!

Makes me feel like I'm taking charge whilst waiting for my appt. I'll start OPKing Day 20. Damn these long cycles! It makes everything take so looooooooong. Its so boring waiting around for the best week!

Sodasoda · 21/12/2015 13:17

weechops we've been TTC #1 for 10 months now. At first I tested really early (4dpo was a low point!) Blush But I started to realise how upset BFN was making me Nd ruining my day. I'd prefer to stay positive and just hope I get a BFP. Once AF arrives I'm upset by at least it's only once. No symptoms at all - my boobs are tender today but that's usually a post ov symptom for me.

mama I usually get 2 days of positive OPKs but I think it varies From person to person
