I had my second baby 14 months ago. Since his birth, I was on depo provera (contraceptive injection). That ended a few months ago and recently went onto the pill. Last Friday I took the last pill in the pack. So I should really have started to have a period by now right??

But I haven't.

Now, my DH and I have had sex once only - and that was on Saturday night - mainly because we were terrified that I would become pregnant again as the first two were accidents.

Please tell me that it's just my body getting used to the pill which is why I haven't had a period and that I'm not pregnant. Insert shudder emoticon.

I haven't had regular periods since arrival of DS1 because of using injection. So am assuming that this is just a continuation of that but I thought having been on the pill, I would have had a period.

Thoughts???

Normally you would have had a period. However, it can happen that you miss a period on the pill.

What do the instructions say in the pill pack?

Sure more knowledgable ladies will be along shortly. Fingers crossed for you.

If you're really worried, give NHS direct a call.

Mmmmn, bumping for others. My feeling is that you should be fine. I reckon your body is just settling into a new pattern. Could you ring your GP for a chat over the phone?

Did your periods return after Depo. I know Depo can knock your system out for a while.

JoshandJamie · 06/12/2006 14:30

Nope - haven't had a period since depo - have had spotting occasionally but that's it

Depo can knock your system out of whack for aaaaaaages (I know women who didn't have a period for 18 months after they came off it), so that is almost certainly why you've not had a period. It's not absolutely 100% definite that you're not pregnant (but then it never is if you've been having sex), but I'd say it's at least 99.9% definite.

It reads on Depo leaflet: "in magority of women normal menstrual cycle returns after 5 months in average"

I am surpised you got the pill straight after as I was advised to wait for everything to return to normal before I started on new pill after depo. Makes me wonder if the doctor know themselves.

corrina28 · 06/12/2006 16:12

when i came off depo it too 6 months for my cycle to return to normal. i would think that you still have depo hormones in your system and thats why you havent had a period yet.
