Is it possible to not ovulate even though i get my period?

Hey, so apparently i am at my peak for trying to become pregnant this cycle. I have been charting, taking my temp and doing the ovulation sticks etc... I am still as yet awaiting when i will be ovulating....

Is it possible to still get your period like clockwork - but not ovulate?

Yep - it's called an anovulatory cycle.

Thanks for replying.. It took me 19 months to fall pregnant with my 2nd son, so i am wondering yet again if this is the issue...

Doctor says it is nothing to worry about at to wait till i am 1 year trying (april 2016)...

What day are you in your cycle, how long have you been charting?

Some people ov later or earlier than day 14.

I always thought an anovulatory cycle meant a very delayed period, how long are cycles normally?

so i am in day 13 of my cycle. 16 days before my next period...

i have been charting since april. via pen and paper, and numerous apps, basal temps, and ovulation sticks etc..

Doctor reckons nothing is wrong with me. I am 28 just turned also- not like it makes a blind bit of difference.

What is your chart showing? Is there any pattern?

Anovulatory cycles aren't necessarily longer than ovulation ones. Because my gp decided to do 3 lots of bloods over a 5 month period of time I know I was anovulatory for 2 of the 5 cycles; I ovulated on one and, the other two, we'll never know as I didn't have bloods done. All those cycles were pretty much the same length at 25-27 days so it doesn't follow that they are longer if anovulatory.

My temperature doesnt change, which is to me a little strange.. It just stays around 0.2 - 0.4 c' lower than normal standard body temp.

My periods arrive on time every month but are strange too, i bleed for about 4 days, 1st day is heavy then the other 3 days are very light. Which again is odd.

I came off my IUD in March of this year, but was told my body would return to normal quickly. ( i have to idea on the truth of that).

I just believe i will have problems conceiving again like last time...

I did not know that about anovulatory cycles.

Op when are you testing using opk's? sometimes you need to take opk's in the afternoon as the LH surge could happen later in the day and you could miss the surge.

Has your go done blood tests etc to confirm your theory?

I would try a new thermometer before you decide you aren't ovulating. I had this problem with my first thermometer.....temp didn't seem to rise much. Then I bought a new one and hey presto! A proper thermal shift.

Your periods don't sound strange....we were just having this conversation on another thread earlier, lots of us having scant periods and some of the girls are now pg! Mine are only 4 days, two medium then two very light.

See if your GP will do a blood test now to put your mind at ease.

Your periods don't sound weird at all. Perhaps try a different thermometer, as suggested.

I have the occasional anovulatory cycle and it's no longer than a normal cycle. Probably once very year to 18 months or so.

When you had your last baby, was it without intervention?

It took 14 months to conceive my first. There was nothing wrong. It was just bad luck.
