Cervical Mucus

Hi everyone,

I've been TTC since December 2014 and never had a hint of a BFP. Never even taken a pregnancy test as my periods are kind of like clockwork.

I started using OPKs a few months ago and thought I had a short luteal phase of 9 days. But it's since been consistently been 12 or 13 days since I've been properly tracking ovulation.

I track my temps and I ovulate each month. I've had my day 3 and 21 bloods done and all is normal. Had my AMH (ovarian reserve) done and that is apparently excellent which is a huge relief for me as I just turned 35. OH has had his SA and all is normal there too.

So I now think my problem is that my cervical fluid is pretty non-existent and definitely not egg white. I'm due to ovulate today or tomorrow and there's nothing there! I read that evening primrose oil can help and I've been taking 2000mg/day since my last period but nothing has changed.

I'm trying to drink 2l water per day. I fail most days but probably manage 1.5l.

Does anyone have any tips or positive stories at all? All gratefully received!

I've just been referred to the fertility specialists by my GP. I imagine it will take a while to come through and I really don't want to hit the 12 month mark. Although that feels more and more likely and this journey feels more and more hopeless.

Amoxicillin increases cervical mucus, and is sometimes used for this.

I was worried about lack of CM, so I bought some Pre-Seed sperm friendly lubricant this month as I'd read it can help. I have no idea if it's related or just coincidence of course, but I got a BFP yesterday after 6 months trying.

This hasn't been a problem for me. However, I am posting because sometimes its the simple things that can hold things back. A friend of mine was trying for a year with no luck. She realised the lubricant she'd been using the entire time had spermicide in it (very common). She stopped using it and immediately became pregnant the next month!

I hope it all works out for you!

Thank you for the suggestions. Artioo2, congratulations!! That kind of coincidence is good enough for me - I'm going to buy some preseed today!

Hi I was recommended preseed too although I never got round to using it. I had thick acidic cervical mucous which showed up on a post coital test. I was under the fertility team and was prescribed oestrogen to improve my cervical mucous but got a BFP that month so never needed the treatment.

Preseed is excellent! (Says she whilst breastfeeding a 4mo!)
I ordered it online. I believe it massively helped conceive both my girls.
Good luck!
