Messed up my cycle

Hi everyone

I'm new :)

I'm after a little help. I'm 25. I have been on Ovranette (combined pill) for over a year. I'd previously used this pill but after a little break (more than a year) I decided to go back on it. I felt like it worked well for my body. I.e. Never had any adverse symptoms. I was advised by nurses that piggy backing packs is fine. I rarely do it, but lately I piggy backed 4 packs.

On day 2 of piggy backed pack 4, I started spotting. It alarmed me as it was unusual for me, but I didn't panic. But a few more days in (I continued to take the pill like normal), the flow became heavier. I went to the GP who told me everything was fine and I should keep taking the pill.

My husband and I, however, were planning to come off the pill as of December anyway. It felt like my body was shouting at me to stop taking hormones as I was experiencing by day 13 a full on period. So I stopped taking it then. Now I have been pill free for 6 days, and the period has finally stopped yesterday. So it was almost 20 days bleeding.

I need help trying to work out where I am in my cycle now that I've messed it up, as I would like to start tracking my fertility. I hope I've explained this clearly enough.

Thank you in advance for advice/help.

I think you need to wait for your next period and start tracking from there. Good luck!

As the pill is a big dose of hormones that makes your body think you are pg, then i would guess the day you stopped taking them would count as cd1 (as that's when your progesterone levels drop back down when you're not on the pill, which starts your cycle), but ultimately i would agree with loki that you're best to wait for af and take it from there.
I would think the bleeding on the pill was just breakthrough bleeding due to the length of time without a break. Hopefully your cycle will get back to normal pretty quickly. I know some people have problems coming off the pill, but i never have, so it's by no means inevitable. Good luck!
