So, I am 1 day overdue and I've just decided to do a test. I can see a very faint line. Anyone else had a faint line test before? What did you do? Shall I do another one? Wait? Help xx

Test with fmu. You will see it better then. Fingers crossed for you.

I really don't mean to be rude, but I don't think you understand how pregnancy tests work.

ALL tests have faint lines, unless you are very pregnant. If there's a line, it's positive. So yes. Thousands of people (if not hundreds of thousands) get a "faint line" result every day. The darkness of the line determines how far along you are, up to a certain point of course.

The exception to this is if you waited longer than the normal test time, or didn't use the test correctly.. then it could just be an evap line (i.e a malfunction).

What does everyone else do? Some wait till the next day to do it first thing in the morning with "first morning urine" (FMU), some go out and get a "better" test (depending which one they used to get their first positive). Some wait a couple of days. I personally would get a Clearblue Digital with weeks indicator because I'd like to see the word "pregnant" as well as how far along it thinks I am.

I would say that looks hopeful, but if I were you I would get a FRER to use in a day or twos time, to be sure! Good luck!

Marchgirl · 11/10/2015 11:33

It's definitely positive. Congratulations!

BabyBumpHopeful · 11/10/2015 17:25

There's definitely a line but it doesn't look pink so it could still be an evap. It's too early for people to say that's a positive, we'd need to know:

  1. when did you take the test? Morning/night?
  2. What day of your cycle are you on?
  3. How long did this result take? Normal test time or longer?
  4. Did the result stay or fade?
