We have been so busy chatting I've started a new thread. Welcome all 10+ ladies. Hope we all have some luck on this thread.

How frustrating Lucie, did they say how long it should take after coming off bcp?

loopylou1984 · 05/01/2016 18:04

Sorry I've been mia - trying to chill a bit as we have to wait until March for next cycle.

Lucie is dh about now? Dtd often brings on af for me? Or an energetic walk/run? Xx

star1980 · 05/01/2016 22:57

Hello ladies,
Really hope AF arrived for you eventually Lucie, and stayed away for you MPP.
So I had my scan today and it seems the fibroid (actually fibroids) aren't the reason for my lack of pregnancy. I have 4 - one is quite big (6cm by 4cm), the others are pretty tiny and all of them are all on the outside and not affecting the uterus. The consultant (who was really nice) said that there was no need to remove them as they aren't the issue and everything else looked good. So whilst I thought I was close to having a cause, it seems not.
The good news is that I then arranged an appointment with a consultant to discuss options and they booked me in for this Friday! Couldn't believe it, thought I'd have to wait weeks and weeks.
Trixie, I thought I'd come on to say that as I think you're at the same hospital and it may be worth calling up to see if your appt could get moved forward? There were a few options free when I booked.

lucieloos · 05/01/2016 23:18

Thanks everyone it's finally arrived but not until about 10pm so I'm not sure if that can still be counted as day 1 or if it should be the next day?

Star, that's brilliant news about the fibroids and your appt. Hopefully you can't get started soon.

OP posts:
MPP81 · 06/01/2016 00:51

Hi all!

Star, that's good news about the fibroids and about the appointment being so quick. I know it must be annoying that you dont have a 'reason' but hopefully you'll find out more soon.

Good news about AF too, Lucie! Does this mean you don't have to change any of you scans now?

Still no af today, and temp still up in post-ov territory. I'm thinking ff has just pinpointed ov wrong but I'm also getting hopeful now. Grrrrrr. Hardly ever poas as after the first few months, it hardly seemed worth it. I do have two frers stashed, and a couple of cb digitals leftovet from a study thing I did through clear blue at the start of last year. If af hasn't arrived by the morning, I think I'll poa frer. Still got the killer headaches though, and paracetamol aren't making a dent in them, which sucks cos I'm frantically trying to finish an assignment which is due on Friday for my OU course. Confused

star1980 · 06/01/2016 06:47

Omg mpp, I'm getting hopeful for you too! Are you still within a 'normal' cycle length for you too?

MPP81 · 06/01/2016 09:05

BFN. This sucks. I can only think this is either an anovulatory cycle, or ff has miscalculated ov due to silly temp taking times. Technically I am within my usual length star. Since coming off bcp, cycles have been between 26 and 35 days, but the last three months have been a textbook 28.
I'm not as devastated as I expected to be. I'm thinking about our honeymoon, which we would have to cancel if we got lucky this month or next month. Obviously we would both prefer to be pregnant, but that and the wedding give me something to focus on when disappointments like this happen.

Trixietwenty16 · 06/01/2016 10:13

Glad AF arrived in the end Lucie, if it was full flow then I would count yesterday as day 1 - my clinic say it is the first day of full flow regardless of time.

Sammy, have you decided on a holiday? (I'm suffering post hol blues so will have to live vicariously through you)

Star, that is good news re your appointment and brilliant that you get to see a consultant on Friday! I may well phone up. I'm due to speak to my Dr this morning though about a blood test to do with my glucose levels so hoping to fit that in before I see the consultant.

Sorry for the BFN MPP, what cycle day are you now? I think it is normal to have one or two annovulatory cycles a year - completely sucks, we need all the chances we can get.

My PMT symptoms are awful this month, probably due to poor diet over the last few weeks. The silly thing is I still find myself getting my hopes up at times even with the NK diagnosis...force of habit I guess.

lucieloos · 06/01/2016 10:28

Thanks trixie, yes that's what I thought about af too so hopefully it will be ok to call yesterday day 1.

I've had to rearrange one scan my original ones were next Monday and Wednesday but I've now changed them to Wednesday and Friday. It works out better for me anyway as I've been able to get an earlier appt on the Friday. I will hopefully book my flight out to Czech today for a week Saturday. They are only £9.99 at the moment!

Sorry about the bfn MPP it's always devastating when you get your hopes up. I don't bother anymore and just focus on the IVF instead. Hope you can get your plan sorted soon.

Trixietwenty16 · 06/01/2016 14:17

Great that it works out better for you with the scans Lucie and £9.99 is amazing!!

My GP is going to prescribe me 5mg of folic acid (like my clinic suggested) feels like a whopping increase and I am still apprehensive but there's no question really if it helps me conceive/ensures a healthy baby. Apparently there are several conditions where this dose is prescribed so its not unusual.
I've started on my 5mg prednisolone too plus my aspirin and other supplements in the evening so at least it feels like I am doing something.
My surgery don't do the glucose blood test my clinic suggested which is a pain. Will pick up some info about local places that do it when I collect my prescription. It's like having a part time job long term trying to conceive.

BorisIsBack · 06/01/2016 16:05

Can I throw myself onto your bus as a temporary passenger?

I've NC recently from my old hairstylist name.

I just wanted to pop over to wave at you all. I stalk you every so often to see how you are doing!

I just got all my re- done blood tests and scans back from a fertility specialist in the UK, they are all fine and normal. After 18 months of TTC though we have not even had a hint of a second line on a hpt or so much as a delayed period. So, we are referring ourselves this week to Reprofit in the Czech republic. Lucie I hope to follow you there in a month or two :) good luck for your next go at ivf. I'll be continuing to stalk you on here looking for hints or ideas if that's ok?!

lucieloos · 06/01/2016 16:17

It's definitely like an extra job trying to conceive trixie! I've been taking 5mg of folic acid for a few months now and not aware of any side effects. Hope you can get the glucose test sorted.

£9.99 Lucie?!That's amazing! So exciting, fx for some good embies for you!

Boris welcome to the thread :). Exciting that you're heading to Czech too. I understand the frustration of the 'unexplained' diagnosis.

Trixie - what is the reason for the increase in folic acid? I think I've missed something.

Sorry for the bfn MMP Thanks

Wow star, that's brilliant re your appointment! Fx it goes well.

AFM we have book a week off (8th Deb) so definitely going away then, and dh has his heart set on skiing so we just need to book something! Xx

lucieloos · 06/01/2016 18:14

Aww Boris, lovely to see you here although I know it's not where any of us want to be but it's a lovely small group here helping and supporting each other. That's amazing news that you are planning treatment at reprofit! Of course please stick around and if I can help in anyway I will be more than happy to. How far have you got with them so far? Have you sent the initial referral form off to one of the coordinators?

That's great you have booked your week off Sammy, I'm sure you will have a fantastic time skiing.

I was very chuffed with my flight price! That's just one way but it's a similar price to come back so a very good deal. Makes up for the price we had to pay in August!! I'm kind of hoping its snowing when we get there. Think it will look all pretty and we can go to cosy cafes for big mugs of hot choc Smile

Trixietwenty16 · 06/01/2016 18:54

Hi Boris! 18 months was the point where we said well this clearly isn't happening let's go down the IVF route. If anything it is a massive relief to have embryos frozen. And it feels good to be doing something!

Ooh exciting that you have booked your time off Sammy, I bet you'll have an amazing time. One of the blood tests the clinic recommended for implantation failure was MTHFR (It all seems very complicated) my result was heterozygous which means that my body doesn't absorb folic acid properly hence increasing the dose.

I was a bit concerned cos during my Googling I read that the max dose recommended is 1mg and also if I'm not absorbing it properly then I'm a bit concerned about all this excess folic acid floating around my body. Going to run it past the consultant at the hospital on the 22nd and still debating a consultation with an immunology specialist.

Good to hear you've not noticed any side effects Lucie. The tablets are tiny, bearing in mind they are 12 times the usual dose I thought they'd be a bit bigger.

spinningirl10 · 06/01/2016 19:56

Hi ladies, just wanted to pop in and wish you all a Happy New Year. I'm watching and keeping fx that I'll be congratulating you all this year on your bfps. Stay strong and keep believing it will happen xx

lucieloos · 06/01/2016 20:16

Oh spinning!! So lovely to hear from you. I have often wondered how you are. Hope all is well with you?

OP posts:
spinningirl10 · 06/01/2016 20:45

Hi Lucie,
I'm good thanks. Not officially ttc anymore as I've just had another birthday and I think the odds are stacked against us! We've given it nearly 3 years of trying and as you all know it's bloody hard! I'm lucky to have my two gorgeous children and my youngest is 10 this year! I know dh is still hoping it will happen and as this is our first month of not trying we'll see how it goes next week at ov time, it will be hard to step away from the ov sticks and thermometer!
Anyway I so hope to see you with a BFP very soon, good luck in Czech, I'll be looking out for your updates xx

star1980 · 07/01/2016 08:29

Any news, mpp?

Thanks for the good wishes Spinning. I'm hoping for some good news on this thread soon.

Trixietwenty16 · 07/01/2016 09:54

This thread is well overdue some good news!

So nice to hear from you Spinning!! Happy New Year! I often wonder how you are too. It is hard to take a step away when you're in a routine of opks and temping but I felt so much more relaxed when I stopped.

MPP81 · 08/01/2016 00:12

Hiya all!

Trixie, I had missed the reason for the increase in folic acid too, so I read your explanation with interest. I hadn't heard of that. Hopefully the consultant will set your mind to rest re: excess folic acid floating around.

Bloody hell, Lucie, £9.99! Bargain! I've informed DP of this low price and told him we need to discuss this option some time this week. Hope it snows for you Smile

Lovely news on the time off, Sammy. You'll have a fab time, and will come back nice and relaxed!

Boris and spinning, I have only just delurked after a year of lurking and spotted you both on various threads during that time am a weirdo stalker I hope you are both OK. Boris, I believe we are at about the same stage. TTC 19 cycles ish losing count and have just finished all our tests and considering Czech. Our issue is male factor though.

Star, how are you doing?

AFM, still no AF and still post ov temps. Must have ovulated later than I thought. I'm quite irritable this evening nothing to do with guest list drama so think maybe she's on her way. According to ff I am now 18 dpo but I'm sure when AF arrives it'll adjust itself to pretend it was right. Haven't tested again as I'm pretty sure there's no point but I'm OK about it now. Just anxious to get on with the next cycle.

BorisIsBack · 08/01/2016 09:25

Mpp nice to virtually meet you. Sounds like we are on the same trajectory. We had initially been told we had male factor issues (I didn't post about this at the time as DH doesn't like MN and wouldn't like me to put his diagnosis out here). But he's been retested and now has much better SA results so we are now unexplained.

Lucie I'm trying to work out my annual leave for the year and wondered how much leave I might need to use for 1 round of ivf in the Czech. Can you possibly talk me through the routine? I've looked online and it's stessing me out a bit, I cant work it out! We would go for both egg retrieval and implantation (sorry I forget the lingo now but hopefully you get what I mean). I can't find a clinic anywhere close that will do monitoring scans here so may need to do them in Czech too. Thanks. This is all starting to play havoc with my head.

MPP81 · 08/01/2016 09:55

Ooooh that's good Boris! Can I ask, did he do anything different that you feel might have helped? DP used to have very hot baths, but he's cut those out, and we're trying fertilaid and countboost. He's had two sa's with similar results, but they were taken less than a month apart (one nhs, one private) so we'll get another one in a few months I think.

Lucie, I'm interested in your answer to Boris' question too. Haven't joined the fertility frI end forum you mentioned yet as I couldn't find it from the app. Will log in on pc asap and try again.

Huge temp drop today, so I think suspicions about wrong ov date are likely correct, and my bouncy, wrongly timed temps over Christmas screwed everything up. Will just be glad for af to arrive now.

Trixietwenty16 · 08/01/2016 09:57

Urgh, how annoying MPP!

Hope your appointment goes well today Star - will be interesting to see what they say re treatment and waiting times.

lucieloos · 08/01/2016 10:52

Hi Boris, what area do you live in? Do you not have any private IVF clinics near you? If you want to go out for all the scans as well then you will need to be out there for around 2 weeks which is why most people have them done at home. If you can get the scans done at home then you will need to go for around a week to have the collection and transfer. If you don't want to take so much time off in one go you could have the scans done at home and go out for the collection which would be 2 or 3 days, freeze any embryos and then go back the following month or whenever you want to have them transferred. That's the option that I am doing at the moment.

MPP, sorry for temp drop. I think I am on the same trajectory as you guys as well. I'm around cycle 19 (excl IVF cycles) but just started IVF a lot sooner as knew we would need it. We are also male factor although not massively off the recommended guidelines. I had dh on all the supplements and also acupuncture but nothing seemed to improve it for us. Nothing has been found wrong with me, all blood tests are fine. My amh is quite low but that's really only relevant for IVF purposes. It wouldn't stop me ovulating an egg naturally every month. The problem is when I do IVF I don't have as many follicles growing so don't get the bumper number of eggs collected that others with higher amhs do.
