Digital OPKs - WTF is going on?!

Hi Ladies - just wondered if anyone could shed some light?

Been TTC 3 for a while now. When I conceived DC 2 we used clear blue digital ovulation predictor and was lucky as we hit the jackpot straight away. This time whilst TTC I have been using the clearblue digital again but the one which is dual hormone indicator (flashing face for increased fertility days and solid face when peak fertility/lh surge detected).

This month - I decided to use the clear blue digital standard opksand as I had a lot of the clear blue dual hormone opks left I thought I would use both. Well yesterday the dual hormone digital showed a solid face after three days of testing (with no flashing face at all). I usually get a flashing face. The standard digital is still just an empty circle. I have used each opk three times a day as previously i have found I would have missed any surges if using fmu only.

Just wondering what the hell is going on - surely both opks would show the surge and not just one. Both same time testing and same urine. Just wondering which test to go by. Very confused ..............

No advice I'm afraid but I'd be interested to see what kind of response you get as I'm currently using clear blue digital opks and I'm still getting empty circles despite having had loads of ewcm a few days ago...

I had a similar problem with these digital, I got so pissed because not only were they a fortune I wasn't sure if they were working! I use the amazon test strips now and they are amazing (and seriously cheap at £4.50 for 30 strips), you can line them all up and see the rise, peak and fall of your LH surge so it more accurate than just a smiley face :) Wouldn't go back now xxxx

Thanks COCO - I've ordered some of them just now. I am so fed up now with the digitalis! Peed on the standard clearblue this am and still just a bloody blank circle. Can't pee on the other because the solid smiley is still there . Plus not had any of my normal ovation signs - what a waste of time and money . Thanks for your reply and good luck on your ttc x

You too :) You'll get hooked on them! The pregnancy strips they do are brilliant as well. I quite enjoy doing the ovulation strips and lining them up, then I know exactly what my bodies doing… so stupid isn't it!? Kinda sad how they cash in on woman at such a hard time isn't it, really annoys me xxx Sending baby dust your way!

SAKURA - I had ewcm this am but still the blank circle which is beginning to annoy me now ??. I'm carrying on with them out of curiosity to see what happens. However one other thing I remember is with dc2 I was using the standard digital and I remember not getting the smiley until day17 and that was our lucky month so who knows. Can't wait for the cheapies to come from Amazon to compare results. Just a bit puzzled and also worried missed chance this month with the dual hormone opk but maybe not as we haven't had any joy with the silly thing so far!

UPDATE for anyone interested - got a positive smiley face today with the standard digital plus got my Amazon chew pies and a very dark line on those. Any way the upshot is I will stick with the internet chew pies in future or the standard digital clear blue. The dual hormone opk is history!

Haha I'm pleased you got them in time, they are great aren't they, never let me down yet! Hate seeing so many women on here wasting £40+ per cycle on these and shop brought HPTs…! Good luck this cycle my lovely, I'm 7dpo and been getting weird cramps down there for 2 days… fingers crossed! :) xxx

Great you finally got your smiley opk mamma I'm on cd19 and still getting empty circles and don't think it gonna happen now this late. Thank you coco I'm gonna order those cheap Amazon opk strips no more wasting money on clear blue ones!

SAKURA - I don't know how long your cycle is but mine has always been between 26 and 28. When I conceived my DC2 I didn't get a positive until day 17. Best of luck to you too xx

mamma my cycle is also 26-28 days but I'm now cd20 so I'm giving up waiting for my smiley face and will give the cheapies a go next cycle. Good luck x

Test more than once a day if you can too because if I hadn't I would have missed the lh surge fur sure. Never once have I detected it with fmu - usual afternoon or early evening xx

LH rises throughout the day so you should never test it with fmu. Glad you've figured out a brand of tests that suits you!
