TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

Shelb x

Stark I've been to both of those castles to do reenactment. The owners used to pay the club to put on shows and give us the keys to the castle!!! I've got some very fond memories of wandering round castles in full costume after the public had left very spooky! and playing hide and seek after dark also spooky! I even slept in a few of them to look after the kit. I love castles and period houses Grin

I found the white queen much easier and more enjoyable than the red queen. Although I would recommend reading the lady of the rivers first. I really love that book and as it's about the queens mother it leads in nicely. I'm about to read the Kings Curse.
I love how her books intertwine telling different aspects of the story from different points of view Smile

StarkyTheDirewolf · 08/11/2015 23:06

And i do runner i really enjoyed the kings curse and thought it lead nicely into the others, I think it's awesome how she intertwines and uses some of the same descriptions, so you feel like you "know" the characters already.

I'd love to do reenactments! Thats so cool! Don't think I could sleep in a castle though! You're far braver than me! I'm a magnet for spooky stuff and ghosts, I'd end up a stuttering, shaking mess! I can deal with it in my own house, but in a castle where I didn't know the ghosts, I'd be freaked out! seen too many most haunted episodes! Haha

StarkyTheDirewolf · 08/11/2015 23:09

DH is watching terminator its shit he loves Arnold Schwarzenegger, I'm sat here like Hmm and its got Emilia Clarke in as Sarah Connor, she will never be Sarah Connor, she's Daenarys Stormborn.

Runner05 · 08/11/2015 23:24

Lol I'm another spook magnet but I oddly I never found anything scary in any of the castles I stayed in. They always felt "busy" and lots of feelings of things being nearby but never scary.
I only slept inside one castle, I stayed curled up in the chapel. It was peaceful and I was near a massive window aperture so I was able to look out at the stars. Some of the guys were staying below in the queens tent so I wasn't alone.

Reenactment is brilliant. If you ever get the chance do it! I gave it up in the end as it was very demanding and then I met OH and he's not interested at all. Still as a result I can hold my own with a sword and shoot a longbow fairly well so come the apocalypse I should be ok Grin

I don't think I could concentrate through terminator either! Have you read the GOT books or just watched the TV show? now turning this thread into a book club

DrWhy · 09/11/2015 00:01

Hiya, can I come and join too?
Following lots of work related drama DH definitely has a job and it looks likely that I will too (although it's still not certain). Assuming my job is confirmed on Monday then yesterday will have been my last pill.
DH is abroad until just before Christmas so not actual TTC until then but hopefully my body will sort itself out a bit after 17 years on the pill.
Good luck to all those already TTC ??

DrWhy · 09/11/2015 00:02

Hmm, those last ?? were meant to be Smile

Runner05 · 09/11/2015 08:06

Hi Dr welcome to the group.

How is everyone this morning?

I'm still worrying about my bbt. It should have risen after ovulation but instead it has consistently dropped lower than my pre-ovulation levels and I'm struggling to find any explanation of this using Google. There are plenty of people taking about temps staying the same or not raising enough but no one talking about temps dipping so I'm assuming the reason is either that I've been temping a lot earlier for the past few days or that I'm sleeping with my mouth open as the start of the lower temperatures correlates with the start of the colder weather. Either way I'm starting to think I'm probably out this month Sad

shelbTa · 09/11/2015 08:25

Morning everyone.

Welcome dr.

Hmm runner I can't really comment as I'm not doing temping as you know, but not great news that you're out this month :-( and by out do you mean not ovulating or not upduffed? Either way, uuuhhhh.

#5days

Xx

Aww Runner I hope not. I think maybe it's time to start temping from the FanjoHmm! Then you'll have no confusion over breathing out of your mouth etc.

I'm not going to start temping until we've had a proper month of dtd every other day and not getting caught. I've read stress can massively reduce your chances of getting caught and I know I would obsess over it and get stressed. I just aim to have lots of sex as soon as I'm around to do so.

I've not read any Phillipa Gregory though I've wanted to since I watched The White Queen. I've read all the GoT books and I'm rather annoyed by the fact he's written a prequel of sorts but not the latest installment yet!

How was everyone's weekend? I've had a busy weekend of supervising kitchen fitting Wink and I'm painting early this week before I go away. And doing two weeks worth of laundry- washing machine finally plumbed in again. What an exciting life I lead!

happybus28 · 09/11/2015 08:38

Hi! Hope you don't mind me joining! Have been reading this thread with interest so thought I'd say hi :) This is our 1st month TTC and I've been off the pill for a week now! Been on the pill 10 years so thinking it might take a while for my cycle to regulate itself but still very excited to be joining you all on the journey!

shelbTa · 09/11/2015 09:01

Bunch, fango, hahahahaha!

Welcome happy! I'm stopping pill on Friday so not too far behind you!

Welcome to the mad house Happy

Shelb I think I ovulated but my temps suggest not pregnant. I'm going to try temping later and breathing through my nose for 5 minutes first tomorrow to see what effect it has... If my temp is higher I'll put it down to me doing it wrong.

Bunch there will be no thermometer going anywhere near my foof! Shock plus, if I did the OH would get cross with me for obsessing.

Aren't the last GoT books coming out next year? I'm waiting for them before I read the prequel.

I recommend starting Philippa Gregory with the lady of the rivers, it seems to be the first book chronologically and it's one of my favourites Smile

Trying to get up the motivation to get on the treadmill, finding it a struggle!!

Ni4444 · 09/11/2015 09:58

Morning ladies! Welcome to guesswork101 happy and Dr!

Sorry to hear you might be out Runner but as you always say yourself you're not out until the with arrives! What day are you now?

Bunch good to hear from you! I thought you'd died of rum and brie overdose!Grin

Saw the GP this morning (totally unrelated to ttc) but it was so lovely to talk to someone in person about ttc! It's officially on the records now! She was young and lovely and excited about it too...only advice she gave was to not get too stressed about it "it's likely to happen in the first year of trying". A year? Does she not know we're impatient, high achievers on here?!Wink

Ni4444 · 09/11/2015 09:59

#the witch not the with...obvs!

happybus28 · 09/11/2015 10:01

Thanks girls :) it'll be great to have other people to talk to who are going through the same! Not really told anyone in RL we are TTC and although my DH is on board with it he just wants to 'stop preventing it' as opposed to thinking we are actually trying. Think he's worried about feeling under pressure so I'm trying to be super casual about it around him at the mo! Anyone else's DH/DPs feeling like this?

BunchOfBobs · 09/11/2015 10:32

Haha Ni I've certainly done my best, just been busy with kitchen fun.

Happy my DH is very much like that. We had a good discussion re baby names at the weekend though and he was very active in the conversation- quite unlike him. I think we now have a boys name and a girls name chosen but we really do need to get pregnant first haha.

Has anyone decided if they will find out or not? I think we will, just to make thinks easier to organise. I was all for keeping it a surprise until we starting talking about Ttc and now I'm of the opinion it would make logistics easier and buying clothes. I'm sure my plan will change when it's on the cards.

Runner05 · 09/11/2015 10:35

Glad you had a positive experience at the Dr Ni and I know you're right, until AF turns up o can't be sure I'm out. But as you say we're all impatient high achievers here so I expect my body to do exactly as it's supposed to! Wink

happy from what I've read nearly all men just want to stop preventing and not think about it and they do seem to get cold feet if they know how eager and obsessive us women folk are. For us it's very personal, it's about our connection with our own bodies and our emotions but for them it's abstract and not really real until the baby pops out Confused on the bright side you have us so obsess away, you won't be the only one Grin

Managed a short run but it was a bit feeble. Will do better tomorrow Smile

Runner05 · 09/11/2015 10:38

We'll definitely find out the sex. Neither if us are fussed about surprises and I want to be able to colour co-ordinate... That being said Simone I know recently had a baby, they were told it was a boy but turned out to be a girl! Oops

happybus28 · 09/11/2015 11:04

That's reassuring to hear other men feel the same! I've just downloaded the ovia app which seems really good although I'm not sure what my cycle is like due to being on the pill for so long!

At the moment I don't think I'd want to find out the sex but I can see that changing once I'm actually pregnant! I have a shortlist of 3 boys and 3 girls names that I like already!

Ni4444 · 09/11/2015 11:09

I like the idea of a surprise bunch. I'm totally convinced that not knowing will motivate me to push when I'm fed up of the labour process!!

Runner that's a great way of describing it. That's what I said to my OH when he thought I was mad to poas "you haven't been in my body for the last two weeks!". But yes happy the men seem to prefer not knowing too much. I talk too much so I'm trying to bite my tongue and not overwhelm him!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 09/11/2015 11:20

Ahh my dh is a knobhead, he gets me all excited about TTC and then literally loses his bottle halfway through and shits out! like a bellend He admitted being scared last night though, he has a 12 year old who wasn't planned and didn't have a good experience with the mother still doesn't so he's freaked out about the prospect of planning it all etc. I shall just continue to talk gently and calmly bully him to him about it all.

BergamotMouse · 09/11/2015 11:52

Ah, that sucks starky but can see why he might be hesitant. I've gone for the approach of just talking about it lots as if it a matter of fact and he's getting his head around the idea. He even had a cooler than normal bath last night when I said i was worried it could damage his sperm Blush.

I think I'd like a surprise but DH says he want to know. I think it would help him bond with it so guess we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

I wouldn't worry about the temps runner. I think it can be affected by loads of factors so it probably is the mouth breathing. Fingers crossed your not out for this month.

Runner05 · 09/11/2015 11:53

My OH has two dc with his ex-wife and never wanted any more but luckily for me he wants me to have the opportunity to be a mum Smile still any mention of the possibility of me being pregnant freaked him out lol

StarkyTheDirewolf · 09/11/2015 12:28

bergamot its funny you say that about the bath, I was telling DH yesterday about how he's probably not got any sperm left after years of saunas for cutting weight for fights! His face was a picture. He'd clearly never thought about it before!

I'll talk him round, he wants to have a proper sit down chat about it tonight, it'll give him a chance to spill his guts and get all the stress out.

Ni4444 · 09/11/2015 12:28

My OH is so funny. One of his best mates is currently ttc and he's telling OH when his missus is late and ovulating and all the details. My OH isn't even telling him we're ttc! He doesn't want all the questions and pressure from others. Still, at least he's talking about it to me! Men are emotional creatures, bless them...just can't always talk about how they feel! That's why we look like the emotional ones!
