TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

shelbTa · 28/09/2015 08:22

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

Shelb x

(Hope this goes through struggling to post)

I've been "trying to be good" for the last few visits and not drinking with family much. I'm also famous for never finishing my drinks as I talk too much so that'll be a good cover for me anyway when the time comes.

That diary looks adorable. My mum wrote one for me and it's so amazing going through it with her. She is able to relive those moments as she put them down on paper. It's lovely. I definitely think I'll get one too. That's a really sweet idea writing letters.

Happy Halloween all .I've just had the delightful task of scrubbing this muck off mine and dhs face. - we went all out to greet the ToTs.

How very un MN of me posting a pic of my kipper. At least I'm in disguise!

Love the pick Bunch

I won't go into detail but I didn't really get to do the childhood thing, I've also lost most of my childhood memories due to trauma and there aren't many photos or things from my childhood so I feel really strongly about recording things for my child so that they always know that they were loved and wanted and considered precious from before day 1. Told OH I bought the journal and he thinks I'm a soppy old thing Hmm

I'm not that worried about people noticing I'm not drinking... They'll just think I'm being odd again and forget about it.

shelbTa · 01/11/2015 10:01

Hi everyone,

Bunch that's ace!!! Did you do the make up yourself?

Ah ni sorry it was a bfn. Starky that sucks, it must be such an emotional rollercoaster once you actually start TTC.

Pinklilly - yeah the upside is the fizz at Christmas I guess!

All the little tots tot'ing last night made me really broody!

Amazing make up Bunch!

Runner - such a lovely idea to keep a pregnancy diary.

I've had a little look at pregnancy guide books, there seem to be a few decent looking ones, but i'm trying to hold off buying one until we are actually pregnant! Pretty sure i'm going to fail at that one.

Runner05 · 01/11/2015 16:02

Pink if you like the look of a pregnancy book I'd buy it as lots of them have preconception advice in them.
I think I'm going to move on to buying first time parent books as with everything I've read online I think I'm probably at the stage where there's not much else I can learn from a book when it comes to pregnancy Smile

I've just finished my Christmas shopping. I think this might be the earliest that I've ever reached the finishing point.

Pinklily1 · 01/11/2015 17:06

Good point Runner, I definitely need to read up more! The one I saw was a day by day guide to pregnancy, which I quite like the idea of. Will have another look.

Runner05 · 02/11/2015 06:38

Have you looked at this website Pink pregnancy.familyeducation.com/first-trimester/1-week-2-days.html
It's a day be day description of your cycle and pregnancy.

I'm just over half way through what to expect determine to read it as I paid for it but I'm hating every minute it just explained what everyone means by choosing a cut or a tear... Can I just say a resounding ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, OUCH!!!

Ps, we are now actively ttc, eek!

Pinklily1 · 02/11/2015 08:00

Eeeek Runner - that's so exciting!

Will have a look at that website, thanks for the link.

shelbTa · 02/11/2015 08:07

Ooh good luck runner!!

Are you using the sticks to work out right time or just guessing?

I don't know what possessed me but last night I decided to have a look at the sleep forum on here. Omg. I'm never going to complain I'm tired again!

How is everyone?

Morning ladies!

Shelb the sleep deprivation will be a nightmare! I'm getting as much time in bed as I can while I can!.. Totally running late for work as a result!

Runner welcome to the excitement!! What day are you on? This should be day 1 for me...AF is due!

Me and the Oh were totally broody over friends baby at the weekend - we're so obvious!!

BunchOfBobs · 02/11/2015 09:22

Morning all,

Runner eek, how excited are you?

Ni sounds like we may be on a similar cycle. AF has been due for me since the 30th, so anytime now for me.

Because of that I took another test this morning. I can tell you trying to collect your pee at 4am when half asleep in the dark is not much fun!

Stupid internet cheapo dip sticks got my hopes right up though. Thought I saw a vey vey faint line...: turns out it was the imprint area for where the bfp would show up! I compared a none dipped stick to a dipped stick. It was there on both. FFS!!

I will test again on Friday if still no AF but I'm not hopeful.

Runner05 · 02/11/2015 09:43

Shelb eek! It's the final countdown!

Ni I'm on day 9. I'm not using sticks just temping, recording cm and shagging whenever I can!

Bunch stupid cheap tests Sad hopefully you'll get a positive on Friday to make up for it!

Ni4444 · 02/11/2015 10:01

Oh bunch, 4am poas...what a mission!! Crossing fingers for you though xxx

shelbTa · 02/11/2015 10:11

Bloody hell bunch, dawn dipping, this is exciting!!! Fingers crossed for you.

You too ni! And the sleep thing, hell yes, that is going to be tough. I'm so ratty without sleep.

Ladies - I really just want to stop the pill now - tell me I'm right to wait until the end of the packet so that everything is as normal as poss cycle-wise, yes??

Shelb you'll get a different opinion from everyone you ask about stopping the pill half way.

When I was planning to do that in December I was just told to go for it, if you cycles going to be a mess it's unlikely to make any difference waiting until the end of the packet.

shelbTa · 02/11/2015 10:39

Hmm yeah, thanks runner. Who advised you that runner - gp or peeps on here?

OP posts:
Pinklily1 · 02/11/2015 10:51

Shelb - not sure if this is what you want to hear, but I'm giving you an excuse to stop early - I stopped mid pack, had withdrawal bleed, 37 day cycle and am now on day 5 of AF. No side effects from stopping early and although 37 days is longer than usual for my cycle (from what I can remember!) it's not too bad. I'd say stop now if you can get OH to agree to it!!

Ni - 4am testing?! Please tell me you just needed a wee then and that's not the time you usually get up?!

BunchOfBobs · 02/11/2015 11:01

Pink it was me with the 4am testing . You'll be happy to know I just woke up needing a wee haha. Im usually a 6.30 riser. It's one of my potential imagined symptoms. I've been waking up in the night for a wee for a couple of weeks when normally I don't need to.

Told DH about this morning drama (he's away for the week). Bless him he just kept asking if I was okay if it got my hopes up. I told him I was just fcked off at the tests.

Shelb* I also came off the pill mid packet. I say go for it Wink we're not helping are we?!

shelbTa · 02/11/2015 11:13

Haha, no you've all been really helpful, thanks.

OH is starting to glaze over when I talk about it so it's great to have you've guys to ask.

I think I stopped mid pack shelb (all those years ago) and can't remember any issues. I didn't know there was any difference with when you stop. I'd say go for it.

I think I'm ovulating today so going to jump on DH after work. I still can't quite get my head around that we're TTC!

Ni4444 · 02/11/2015 13:07

Shelb I finished the packet. Just because I felt I was starting afresh then from day 1 of my cycle and thought I could predict ovulation and AF right from the start then.

Bunch, my other half thought I was being a mad, hysterical woman testing (he didn't say that, but that's what he was thinking!). He reckons it'll take us up to 6 months...I'm like "not if I have anything to do with it"! Grin Plus I read the thread about those who did conceive on the first month. It can happen! This is your first month, right?

BunchOfBobs · 02/11/2015 13:17

Officially it's our first month but we didn't use protection at the end of September, though I knew I'd already ovulated so it wasn't on the cards.

I doubt I'll get caught before the end of the year but you never know. It definitely happens. I have a cousin who fell the first time she ever had sex!!

Trying to get back on the healthy wagon. I was amazingly good before our holiday in August but since I've been a slob. Just back from my first gym session in a month. Trying to get back to my usual routine of 3 times a week but we'll see. DH away for the week which means I usually resort to comfort naughty food. Not this week. A healthy body is a healthy pregnancy and it's the best prep I can do. So I kept telling myself on the cross trainer today. How long until I hit the chocolate or gooey cheese??!!

shelbTa · 02/11/2015 13:31

Thanks ni

You never know bunch do you I guess, my friends have been on average two months of trying (after stopping the pill). Good effort on the getting fit, three times a week is serious!!!!

I'm the same bunch. I'm about 7lbs over what I'd like to be. Not great to start a pregnancy already overweight! This has given me a good push though so have resisted snacking a lot this month and have lost a few lbs. Can't be bothered to exercise though...so dark and cold. I think I'm going to try to get into yoga as that is something I can keep up when pregnant.

Speaking of food, I was looking at all the foods you're not supposed to eat while pregnant. When AF arrives I'm gonna gorge on some brie, some soft scrambled eggs and a nice pink steak!! Maybe I'll have a g&t too!

BunchOfBobs · 02/11/2015 13:52

Haha Ni you sound just like me!

I've told DH once AF arrives I'm eating Pate, Brie, cold Prawns in Marie Rose sauce, runny eggs and drinking rum, lots of spiced rum. It makes AF not such a bitch, there is a good side to her arrival.
