TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

Shelb x

(Hope this goes through struggling to post)

Hi ladies, new here and jumping on a few bandwagons! :)

I stopped the pill a couple of weeks ago and we are "seeing how it goes". They're his words - I want it to happen NOW! Lol

The potato comment made me giggle - I never particularly like other people's babies but the thought of making my own is amazing!! Is that weird!?

So, I have no idea what's going on with my body as I haven't had my first real period yet...time will tell!

BunchOfBobs · 28/10/2015 13:55

Hi Miss

Oh runner I hope they see to you soon.

I get all my patterns off Ravelry.

The ears need starching. If you sew them on right they're supposed to stand up on their own.... I think that means I didn't sew them on right.

Hello

We are going to start ttc our first in the new year, we were trying from Nov 14 til June 15 with no luck but stopped for a while as my periods were so irregular from stress at work. I have now changed jobs and am much more relaxed with a regular cycles of 29 to 31 days :) looking forward to getting started! We are also getting married in June so lots to look forward to!

Best of luck to you all

Sarah Lou xx

Hello MissClarke and SarahLou!

Im starting to get fed up of waiting around to start TTC, even though it's only a couple of months and they will start to fly by in the run up to Xmas. I always spend Xmas day without my OH as we each go to our own families - I'm excited at the thought that next year we might be together for the first time as our own family!

I've just started taking the pregnacare conception vitamins. They are huge and quite expensive. I might get seven seas when this packet runs out. im sure I don't really need to take them yet but like to feel like I'm making some progress towards TTC!

Runner05 · 28/10/2015 15:48

Bunch your limp bunny ears did make me laugh. They're still infinitely better than anything I could do.

Hello newbies Grin

The verdict on my back is whiplash. Feel a bit thick as I thought you could only get whiplash in the neck. My manager has made me take sick leave for the rest of the week because I can't sit down without being in pain. Not sure whether I'm happy to have the break or annoyed because I was going to work through it Confused

SarahLou89xx · 28/10/2015 16:31

Harriet I feel exactly the same....just want these2 months to fly by so we can start trying! Would like to start asap but with my wedding I would be worrying if I would fit in my dress still haha! I did take pregnacare for a while but I found them so hard to swallow as they are huge, am just taking folic acid now which are tiny :)

Hope your back gets better Runner05!

MissClarke86 · 28/10/2015 17:24

It must be frustrating having to wait. I think my OH would prefer us to wait a bit longer but once I have my mind set on something I find it really hard not to get on with it.

I must admit...there's part of me hoping that I fall pregnant in December, then baby would be due Sept which is perfect as I'm a teacher!

Pinklily1 · 28/10/2015 20:01

Hi everyone, and welcome to SarahLou and Miss!

Runner - did they give you anything for the pain? Maybe lots of soaks in the bath will help too?

SarahLou - very exciting about a wedding. Have you found a dress yet? I suppose if you are going to TTC in the new year, you could be pregnant when you get married!

avocadosarentmiddleclassed · 28/10/2015 20:20

Oh this is such an uplifting thread I like that I'm going to have an outlet for my obsession with TTC whilst remaining calm and cool with DH...also we're all at the start of interesting and varied journeys- thanks all :)
I'm going to start taking folic acid.
I want to get pregnant in January for a sept/Oct baby but life may not agree we'll see :)

MissClarke86 · 28/10/2015 20:34

I agree avocado as soon as I read this thread i thought "That's exactly how I feel!". Folic Acid is a good idea Smile

I've just ordered some OPK/POAS tests from Amazon..its very early days for me but I enjoy all the science behind it so will enjoy testing! Now to find a hiding place from OH...

BunchOfBobs · 28/10/2015 20:53

Hi to the new joiners.

I love how you're trying to find d somewhere to hide your tests. Mine are in my pipes of underwear hehe.

Runner I'm sure your whiplash is horrendous but I'm glad to hear it's nothing more sinister. Try hot baths followed by deep heat and/hot water bottle pain killers and bed. Not what you need when you want to be jumping on DH.

Morwenna1 · 28/10/2015 22:36

Hope you feel better soon Runner :( Just make the most of the "break" as it were from work...rest up and take it easy.

Hello new folk - MissClarke and SarahLou :)

It's a good idea to get a few months head start on the folic acid before TTC Harriet - the advice I've read says to start building up reserves before hand so it's in your system..not that much longer to wait!

Still feeling 'weird' today. I've deduced that it's more than likely psychosomatic (spelling?!) symptoms that are nothing more than wishful thinking! So hard to objectively analyse things at the moment...

SarahLou89xx · 28/10/2015 23:15

Evening all

Sorry for late reply - have just got in form work.......
So glad I have found somewhere to chat with others who are ttc :)

Hi Pinklily - I have ordered my wedding dress but have ordered it 2 sizes too big just in case, if I am not pregnant by then they said they can take the dress in so it fits perfect which is a huge relief!.....would be amazing f I was pregnant on my wedding day would really complete our family :)

Deborah89 · 29/10/2015 00:35

Hi, we want to Ttc after christmas and have been on cerezette without any periods for 5 years. Due to worrying about my body getting back to normal and being able to identify conception (and my pack finishing) I came off the pill on 27th September, I have just finished my first period lasting 7 days and am hoping for them to be regular now and to fall quickly.

Having heard lots of horror stories from cerezette users I'm not hopeful for a quick fall but fingers crossed!

MissClarke86 · 29/10/2015 00:42

Hi deborah Smile Fingers crossed it goes smoothly for you! I'm still waiting for my first period after stopping the pill but we started 'trying' straight away so I'm completely unsure where my body is at!

Laying wide awake at the moment, head swimming with thoughts of TTC and partner snoring like a bloody trooper!! If I do have a baby I'm not sure how I'll ever get any sleep!! Angry

Deborah89 · 29/10/2015 00:54

Hi missclarke, it's so exciting and nerve racking! I desperately want to start trying especially now I've had that first period! May need to convince OH when he isn't snoring!

I've got a draw full of ovulation and pregnancy test kits.

How long ago did you come off the pill? Xx

shelbTa · 29/10/2015 07:34

Hi new joiners!

Runner - blimey whiplash in your knee? Yeah take it easy, knees can be tricky can't they.

Purple - aren't you off on hols soon, how are things going?

Bunch- the ears are ace! High fives to the knitting everyone, well done.

Well I did a 16 hour day yesterday, I was moaning on about it to anyone who would listen, obvs and then I thought - shi* this is going to be how tired I am post baby for a long long time! Hmm

Hi Deborah missclarke sarahlou Smile

Do you all have drawers full of pregnancy tests ladies?! I don't have the willpower to have them around...I'm sure I'd be testing already! I think I've decided I'm gonna buy one and test Saturday morning though. I've been feeling so weird (the headaches and abdom pain continue) I am a little hopeful. AF due Mon but I reckon if it doesn't arrive I don't want to be testing on a work morning then having to switch off when I get into work! Only 2 days early so tests should be accurate then. There will be plenty wine Saturday night if it's negative!!Wine

BergamotMouse · 29/10/2015 08:05

I've got my fingers crossed for you Ni. I wouldn't want to test on a work day either - wouldn't get anything done at work if positive.

I have a drawer full of them which I bought a few years ago. Found that due to irregular periods I often needed to test and kept wasting money on expensive shop ones - just got a load of cheap ones from Amazon.

Problem is they have an expiry date in November so I better get started!

purplesmiler · 29/10/2015 08:55

Morning ladies and welcome to the newbies!

Shelb-I finished work yesterday so am now on leave, just having a couple of days seeing family and pottering about as we go away on Saturday. Its nice to have the time to sit and catch up with the posts with a cuppa. Hope today is less stressful for you, the last few days have been crazy for me too at work so I am already feeling relaxed today.

Having lots of fun TTC hopefully the sunshine will help move things forward too.

Runner05 · 29/10/2015 10:13

Hello any newbies that I've missed. Wow it's getting busy in here Grin

Sarah ordering your wedding dress, so exciting! Will keep Fx that you don't need to take it in.

Miss I think the general consensus is that most men will never be as excited / anxious / impatient about ttc as we women are so it's usually best to let them snore and not except much from them until you're actually pregnant Wink

Shelb my whiplash is in my back but it was caused by hitting my knee... I'm pretty sure that's a trick that only I could manage Hmm

Ni So excited you're testing at the weekend. I shall keep my everything crossed for you!!! except my legs, that would somewhat defeat the object of being here Shock

Purple enjoy your break Smile

The draw of my bedside table is pretty much full of pregnancy tests and vitamins. I may have overdone the be prepared thing as I've got first response, clear blue and a digi. Although the digi is just to do after I get a positive so that I can wave the actual words "pregnant" at OH. I'm sure he won't believe it until I do.

According to my app my withdraw bleed should end tomorrow. It's felt like the longest AF ever!!! I keep reminding myself that we're not trying this month but I think as the chances of us getting pregnant first try are pretty slim we're probably going to risk it. After all, I'm not really that fussed about alcohol. Halloween Grin

Deborah89 · 29/10/2015 10:17

Oooo good luck Ni, fingers crossed for that BFP.

I bought some cheap ones in Savers and thought when we Ttc and they show a positive I will then only need to buy one expensive one to be certain rather than buy lots of expensive ones and get negatives.

It's half term for me but have been busy planning, marking and assessing work so am determined to have the weekend off to chill.

Does anyone have any experiences or know of anyone coming of cerezette (desogestrel) and falling quickly? Xx

BergamotMouse · 29/10/2015 10:21

Deborah - probably not very helpful but I was on cerazette and came off it a couple of years ago after suddenly decided I didn't want hormonal contraception. No experience of falling pregnant but my cycles went back to normal straight away (and I'd been on various contraception for about 9 years without a break).

purplesmiler · 29/10/2015 10:32

Deborah I'm only on week 3 of being off cerazette. Have noticed more tenderness with my boobs and some light cramping but otherwise it's been fine. Have to say not expecting to fall pregnant so quickly but if I did it would be a pleasent suprise.

Deborah89 · 29/10/2015 12:21

Thanks purple and bergamot, we aren't starting to try until after Christmas but wanted to know if I can expect a quick fall.

I had been on various contraception without having a period for 11years of which the first 2 and last 5 were cerezette. I had my first AF 24 days after coming off the pill and lasted 7 days so will see in 3 weeks if I'm regular or not.

Desperately want to start trying now though, need to convince OH to start trying early! Xx
