Best tests?

Hi, I am currently 5 days late, and I need to do a test this eve as it is driving me insane with the not knowing. I have heard conflicting advice about the best test to take, would a waitrose cheapy do the trick for an evening test? Or is it best to wait a few more days? TIA

Well first morning urine is the best time to test. However I always found first response tests the best, the digital ones rubbish, or the cheapie ones from Wilkos or Boots were good, so I think your Waitrose test should be fine. You're five days late so yes do a test! Good luck!

If you're five days late, any old test will do. They're all pretty similar, the differences come from packaging, cost, colour of dye etc. Really, get whatever's local or cheap.

If you were testing early, you could consider some tests before others as they're slightly more sensitive but for now, I'd just go out and buy the first one you see in your local supermarket. If you want to be choosy, pink dye is generally better than blue and the +/- tests are sometimes a bit misleading. But it's all much of a muchness tbh.

Thanks. Seeing as DP has splashed out on a clear blue digital, is it worth waiting til the morning or going for it tonight?

At 5 days late, it doesn't matter what time of day you do it!

Do it NOW.

Seriously? I feel like I am making a fuss over nothing and then I will get my period tomorrow morning... Not sure why I am holding out for this...

Ok so 'not pregnant' flashed up... I am highly confused. Period is extremely late, boobs sore, I can smell stuff from a mile off and feeling sick all the time... It's not as if we were actively trying, but I am quite shocked (having been pregnant before...).... Ah well. Bet I get AF in the morning

Sorry you got a negative. Maybe you're not quite as late as you thought. You may have ovulated a few days late this month which could mean it's not strong enough for an evening test on a less sensitive digital.

Fingers crossed AF stays away.

Whataconundrum1 · 16/09/2015 19:09

Thanks mrs still no sign of AF here... Just tried a tesco cheapy and nothing came up, not even the control line. I assume it was a faulty test. Now at least six days late... I have been counting and double counting and there is no doubt that I am very definitely late. Got the other tesco test and not sure whether to test later or leave it til the morning... Argh, this is so frustrating!!!
