about to have tests, should i ttc?

after 3 mc between 5-9 weeks gp is finally sending me for tests. have 1st lot of blood tests in a week and high swabs at same time. then wait to see specialist. should i ttc in the meantime????

If this were me I would not ttc, I'd have the tests and see what they were like.

It must have been so awful to go through your miscarriages, I'm so sorry to hear you've had to go through that; it may save you having to go through similar again if you wait for the tests and they show that you could be given something to help you.

However it depends on your age too I guess, if you are late 30's and you have to wait a year to see a specialist then maybe I would re-think! But if you feel time is not too pressing I would wait....enjoy a few drinks at christmas!

That's a tough decision. I would phone the doctor and see what they recommend about intercouse and check the likely waiting period for seeing a specialist. Could recent sex interfere with the high swab readings? If they say you can go ahead then decide whether you can face potential further heartache for the chance to break the cycle or if you'd like to wait for a clearer idea of any potential problem. If you choose to wait also ask the doctor what contraception is suitable that wouldn't interfere with the tests. Good Luck

I think this is a tough one too. This is a nice time of year to step out of the ttc rat-run and indulge yourself. However I agree that if this means you're going to stop for ages you might decide to go ahead and leave it up to chance. There's always the possibility that you'll have a successful pregnancy without intervention! However, I suppose it depends whether you can face the risk of having another mc if you conceive before getting help from your consultant. If you feel that would destroy you, it might be better to stop ttc for the moment. You could use this time for nice stuff - ie, without having to obsess about ttc! - knowing that it's a break, not a complete stop.

I've just been through the blood test business following 2 miscarriges-had 1 round of blood tests, chromosone tests then 6 weeks later had last round of blood tests, we made a conscious decision not to TTC especially as we were paying for the tests and wanted to know the outcome first especially in case there were chromosone probs. It turns out I have got a clotting prob and will need injections from as soon as I sense I might be pg, they said they'd even rather do the blood tests for pg and it be negative to ensure that they get me started on the inj straight away when I need them. I think I thought that if I tried before the results and had another mc it would just make the whole process lengthier in the long run.

thank you for all your advice. ds is 19 months old now and vv worried that probs during labour (3 day labour, ecs, then group b strep actually in my uterus) has been causing this. it took 6 years ttc with ds, so worried that if i leave it too long either i'll chicken out or my body will "forget" how to be pg. i know it's daft but i can't help it.

Hiya, me again-my case very similar to you, I had 22 hour+ labout with DS1, GBS diagnosed during labour, post partum haemhorrage, strong antibiotics after, but then had DS2 almost 3 years later, similar labour , antibiotics during the labour and drugs to stop a further PPH. This year is a further 3 years later when I've had my two m/c

have you asked them to look into the link between GBS and mc's? had a nightmare getting my gp to take it seriously, but then found a doc in the us who specialises in GBS effects on the MOTHER. here it is and i took this case study into my gp after last mc, because they weren't going to do tests unless i had another mc because they were all so early.

I told my consultant who has done the blood tests about my GBS, but am going to speak to him again

please do. i e-mailed this doc and he said that it was almost certainly linked. coz the GBS was in my uterus it could be "attacking" when i got pg, and coz it's a version of a throat infection... so all it needs is antibiotics. i ended up taking my research into my gp so he would take me seriously.
