Fly, I don't think it matters how you do it as long as you get the sperm up there! I know some studies suggest certain positions are better, but others haven't found any difference. I say go for whichever you enjoy the most!

Sammy, how are you? Did AF show up yet?

Eskimo, anymore night sweats?

mrslewis2015 · 22/09/2015 20:52

Hi everyone,

So just looking for some support... We've been TTC since May (our wedding) and nothing's happened yet.. I'm just about to start my 6th cycle... I haven't come on yet but know af is on it's way and I've just got a bfn... So yeah. Feeling pretty low, I know it hasn't been that long compared to a lot of people, but I'm finding it all very hard.

I have very regular 26 day cycles and have had an ultrasound which said 'nothing irregular' which I hope means no pcos (my mum had to have most of her ovaries removed because of it). We we both healthy mid 20's, but my
DH is a kick boxer so has taken some serious shots to the down belows..

Just ordered some opks to make sure I'm ovulating...

How does everyone else cope with the emotional side of things?

Anyways, just needed to say it all 'outloud' I think!

Thanks xx

eskimoflo · 22/09/2015 21:09

Don't pee after sex! It burns the sperms! Grin

Nomio NO night sweats since the awful night on Saturday night, TG! Sorry you're still feeling shitty. Sad Hope you get better soon.

Welcome mrslewis Hope you're stay here is short! To answer your question about the emotional side of things... truth is, we don't always cope. But when we're feeling low, we vent on here. There's always someone to provide some support, or advice (a few of us have been through some form of treatment, so we do try to help). Flowers Chin up. You've 'only' had 5 real goes at it, and if you're both 'firing on all cylinders' as it were. it's only a matter of time and luck! Oh, and a word of advice... don't rely on OPKs to tell you if you're actually ovulating. They will only detect the LH surge, and can't tell you if you've actually ovulated or not. I have been using them for 9 months, and have got positives EVERY time, but blood tests have shown that I've never actually ovulated. My guess is that I'm producing the surge in LH, but it's not strong enough to actually provoke an egg... Hmm The only thing that can definitely prove ovulation is a blood test. Temping can also be quite reliable, as long as you do it at the same time every day, but this will only tell you after the event. Hope this helps.

Moomin As ever, I'm following your story with interest. So these Menopur... were you taught how to inject? Do they give you the six months supply there and then? Are you on the NHS or private (I think I remember you saying private?) I only ask as I hold out no hope for the clomid at all and am really hoping that I will be given injectables if the clomid fails this time...

As for me, I took the last three clomid pills last night, so it's wait and see time now... Hmm

nightandthelight · 22/09/2015 21:23

I have been gone so long :( Had major issues with sorting out a password after the hacking incident.

Congrats woolly! So happy for you :)

I really hope that your dad gets better soon Sammy, it must be so worrying Flowers

Waves to all the newbies.

How is everyone? I have missed you guys!

nightandthelight · 22/09/2015 21:34

And heir was the other 0% morphology bfp, just goes to show it is possible!

Nomio23 · 22/09/2015 22:07

Plus my Dr told me that the NHS tests are notoriously unreliable, so even if they say 0%, it might well not be!

loopylou1984 · 23/09/2015 07:03

Hi all, hope you're ok?
I'm going to have a proper catch up this evening as I feel like I must have missed loads! When is the app coming back?????

AF still not here, although my temp dropped this morning so she should be along soon. It needs to be today, if it's tomorrow then I don't know how I'll fit my day 2 baseline scan in as we're out Saturday morning and probably won't be able to get to the clinic before it closed :( :( :( Xx

nightandthelight · 23/09/2015 08:02

Fx AF arrives on time Sammy! How is your dad?

Hairstylisttoboris · 23/09/2015 08:44

Oh no sammy, can you not cancel your plans for Saturday?

Nomio and night (welcome back night :)) the nhs unreliability of sa makes it even more annoying that it's so hard to get the testing done here....

DizzyMerry · 23/09/2015 09:21

Nomio I didn't know you'd been pregnant once. I'm so sorry for what you had to go through. You've definitely had a tough time of it and that bfp is well and truly overdue. Fx this is the cycle.

Boris how frustrating about the SA. It will be worth it though and you'll be glad when it's over and done with.

Sammy I really hope everything goes to plan for you this time.

Eskimo fx the clomid works it's magic this time.

to pixa. How are you doing?

It's great to see some more newbies on here. Good luck to you all.

flymo79 · 23/09/2015 09:38

flyBN, I try to stay put after we dtd, but I do have a worry about cystitis too as I normally go for a pee and a quick wash, but when ttc I think you can afford to have a little rest after! I prefer to go on top too, but there are times when we just need to get the job done... depressing!
I think when we conceived #1 it was by doing it for a few days after I ov'd, rather than really trying too much before (although that time I was only doing opks to check for ov, this time I'm doing bbt as well)

DizzyNorthernBird · 23/09/2015 10:04

Welcome back night!

sammy fx for af today! It's not often we say those words on here! Temp drop today sounds promising. Maybe if you went for a run or did some heavy lifting it might spur things along? Lol (I have no idea whether that actually works but it's worth a try ha ha)

Someone somewhere told me about home sperm testing kits.....if SA results are that unreliable anyway, would it not be preferable to save your time & effort and DIY at home? Although I suppose the nhs want it done their way in order to proceed to the next stage.....

I also worry about cystitis and thrush as I had frequent attacks of it when I was a teenager. I've not had any problems with it since ttc though. I lie for half an hour after sex (usually looking at Mn on my iPad) then pop to the loo and have a quick rinse in the shower.

I have a confession to make though. It's only recently I found out that you shouldn't push the semen out after sex Blush. I'm pretty sure that in Taking Charge of your Fertility, she says you should expel any excess sperm to avoid any confusion with ewcm when you're tracking your cm, and also because anything left up there is surplus to what is required. Then I saw an article on FF which says you shouldnt expel the sperm. Now I'm wondering whether this is why I haven't had even so much as a whiff of pregnancy yet....?!

Cd15 here....should really get going with dtd'ing however DP got home very late last night and I couldn't be bothered. I really can't be bothered with the usual stress about timing etc this month. Might not even do DP's every three days plan & just leave it for when we're both in the mood instead....

Flybynight1 · 23/09/2015 10:34

flymo thanks for the reassurance on position!! One thing we did try last night (which got a bit weird) was after the sperms were out, I just kind of stayed on him-Thinking that when his willy is plugging the hole, so to speak, then the sperms can't escape!! Haha but it definitely got weird after about 30 seconds...

Dizzy I would think that unless you are planning on standing on your head, then any sperm that is sitting in you vagina that you can expel, isn't going to make its way upwards to where it needs to be? So I can't see why expelling it would be negative (it's not useful sitting in your v!!)? Not that I know anything but it doesn't seem that bad a thing to do, especially if you are monitoring cm...?

I attempted to just lie there after dtd last night, but I only lasted about 5 minutes (it felt very weird!!), I had to hold a tissue down there to stop it all seeping out, but I did notice when I finally went to the loo that a lot less stuff came out than normal... So either the every day shagging is wearing poor DH out OR stuff did indeed migrate in the other direction! It's all very gross really, I'm glad I can't see any of your faces as I'm writing this!! Haha

Also I just realised something (fairly obvious really)-I'm monitoring cm and today I wore dark coloured knickers (normally I wear white or light)-the dark fabric really shows up my cm!! I probably sound like a complete berk, but it seems like a breakthrough to me :-P

How is everyone today?

nightandthelight · 23/09/2015 10:41

What issues are you coming across Boris in terms of the SA? Apologies if you have explained this all before!

I had never heard of expelling Dizzy and never did so. Like people say though I can't see how it would make a difference either way Smile Has it been identified that there may be an issue with DH's (to be) swimmers?

flymo79 · 23/09/2015 10:55

expelling sperm?? sounds like a total nonsense theory to me! I thought the idea was to keep them in?? give them the most chance of colliding with that egg (I thought they could survive in your bod for about 48 hours, so better to just chill and not leap up to get rid!).... anyway, if you're dtd when you spot some ewcm surely you wouldn't worry about whether it's ahem, junk, or your own cm when you wipe, you'd already have identified some ewcm, and therefore be dtd??!!? so confused as to why it's an issue!

Hairstylisttoboris · 23/09/2015 11:49

I like to know when EWCM arrives as a precursor to OV, and when we are DTD eod I can't tell EwCM from sperm.
I'm still struggling to know how one ejects sperm... Do I dare ask how?

Mummyofonesofar · 23/09/2015 12:01

Sammy glad you have been referred for IVF on the NHS! But hopefully you won’t need it as this time may work Smile

DizzyN good luck with the knitting, I find it very relaxing – though I am yet to make an actual “thing” yet!

I shall start a petition for conception leave and employer donated pineapple Grin

Moomin good luck for testing on 9th Oct! I hope you get your BFP before starting IVF too.

DP and I tried daily from CD10 one cycle, we found after about CD15 it got tiresome so stuck to EOD mostly, sometimes twice on ov day if we were feeling energetic and it was a weekend!

flyby I didn’t mind which position, they shoot them pretty fast up, and people get pg having sex once up an alley fence!! We used a mooncup and bop to hold them in for at least 20 mins – also this meant if I did need to get up and use the loo I wasn’t losing them all down my leg/toilet! I heard the orgasm thing but I don’t think I did when I got pg this time, the time before we had great orgasmic sex and it ended in mc so I don’t think it matters. We also held him in for a minute or so but that is very awkward if you are on top!

Nomio I also hadn’t realised you were pg before, hopefully it is just a matter of time and you BFP is just around the corner!

Boris so annoyed about your SA on your behalf! What utter crap Sad

Expelling semen seems silly – like I am sure the mooncup had no benefit as it was only holding the semen & non swimmers and not the sperm but pushing it out on purpose seems wrong! I thought they swim around for a day or so anyway which is why we can dtd eod.

Had my 12w scan yesterday, they moved me forward 5 days, both twins were measuring perfectly and wiggling about, one much more wiggly and posey than the other! They aren't sure if they are identical or not yet, I have another scan next week to check that and to measure nuchal fold (our hospital can't do it for twins). I put a picture on the bottom of the MN down post of mine on the fb page if anyone wanted to see. Hope everyone is ok Smile

Cairomama77 · 23/09/2015 13:57

AF came today. No worries. We will work harder this month. Time to get down to business!

nightandthelight · 23/09/2015 14:47

Sorry to hear that Cairo :( Do you have a plan?

Mummyofonesofar · 23/09/2015 15:03

Cario I know you said you didn't have to try with your others - maybe starting to "try" will get you your BFP this time. Lot of good advice you can pick up from here. Ps admitting you fell pregnant very easily in the past will get you lynched here! Wink Just remember some people have been TTC a very long time so comments like that may hurt.

smellsofelderberries · 23/09/2015 16:20

Sorry you're out Cario, that sucks!

That's exciting Mummyofone!

I don't push anything out post-sex, if it's a work night I quite often just go to sleep afterwards anyway cause cystitis isn't something I have to worry about. I notice more leaks after certain positions though! I'm quite lucky that DHs semen looks quite different from my CM too, so I'm happy for it to all just hang around!

Nomio, so sorry to hear about your loss Sad

Flyby, we do it eod and then generally my libidos picks up and we end up doing it every day -2, -1, O day and day after. But, I'm still not pregnant so...

Going to see the GP this weekend and my appointment can't come soon enough. I have a few questions about some of my test results (borderline high TSH and high prolactin) and how rubbish I'm feeling lately in terms of fluctuating mood and energy levels. We'll see what they say. It would be nice to think that I don't have to fight through every day because I'm so lethargic and there was a reason we've had so much sex for 6 months and still not fallen pregnant Confused

chopsface · 23/09/2015 16:56

fly I would just like to say that after TTC 30 cycles, the first and only time I decided to orgasm after sex to test the sperm sucking up theory after dh had immediately fell asleep we got preg!!!! Coincidence? Who knows?!

sammy hope AF turns up soon and you can get to the clinic!!!

Moomin37 · 23/09/2015 17:09

Mummy oh wow I didn't realise you are pregnant, let alone with twins - congrats and sorry for being so behind :) Can I ask what your story is? Thanks for the best wishes - I got the date wrong though - think its 3rd October, so less time to wait! That is unless AF arrives before then...

Eskimo good to hear from you :) Although I paid for a private consultation, all my treatment is via the NHS and has been very good to date. I have a box full of needles and some potion, I mean Menopur, in the fridge (doesn't need to be in there but mustn't get too hot, so thought it was safer). I have 10 doses to start with and the injections will commence on day two. They will scan on day eight and then every three days after that. Apparently some women need to inject for 18 days, but this is rare. They'll need to give me more Menopur and the trigger when they see me again.

Well done you for sticking with Clomid - besides the blurred vision/flashing lights, I was overheating every night and, as my DH put it, I was in 'a right state' (very stressy/anxious and struggling to cope with pressure at work). The fertility nurse said that 80% of women ovulate using the injectables (not sure what stats are for Clomid) so hopefully that should do the trick for you :) They gave a brief demo re injections - no doubt there is something on YouTube by way of a guide - I'm going for deep breath and big stab!

Nomio23 · 23/09/2015 17:32

Good luck, moomin. You are a brave woman, injecting yourself! I hope it works for you. It sounds like you had a really hard time on Clomid. I get hot flushes & mood swings, but would be terrified if it affected my vision.

I often orgasm during or after sex, but it doesn't seem to help in my case! It does seem like it should help in theory though, so who knows.

I am feeling a lot better today, so think all your good wishes have helped me!

8DPO & I haven't tested yet. Shock

nightandthelight · 23/09/2015 17:41

Congrats nomio that is very impressive for you :)
