Did the private clinic class you as low risk too sammy? Hope AF starts soon and you can get started! When would they transfer?

Morning everyone else :-)

DizzyNorthernBird · 22/09/2015 08:38

Morning!

mummy what a great idea! Conception leave!

Well I had an easy shift at work last night and today is my first day off of three. So my blackberry is switched off and I'm going to concentrate on doing relaxing things for the next few days. I'm re-reading a book about meditation and I've just bought a Pilates workout DVD (to help with bad posture and back problems but it should be relaxing too!). So then I just need to get through next weekend without anything major happening at work (also I need to think of ways to keep my boss sweet as he's a pain in the arse and is a big contributor to my stress at the moment).

Ooh and I've also taken a leaf out of some of our grads' book and have bought myself the stuff to learn how to knit! So I'm off to buy some yarn later so I can get started today Smile. I found some really cute knitted Xmas tree decorations on Pinterest so it's my mission to make those before the festive season starts!

Woolly84 · 22/09/2015 08:58

Morning ladies! Hope you are all well?

sammy so excited for your ivf cycle! And with AF absent/temps high hmmm who knows what may happen! Wink

dizzy I'm learning to knit too! Not got too far yet though! Christmas de orations sound like a great idea!

Hello everyone :) I'm glad MN is back up and running! Sorry I haven't contributed much to this thread - I have been reading with interest though! Given that work is such a source of stress for me, then Mummy I think you might be in to something there - employers should have to pay for the pineapple too!

Sammy I'm in a similar position to you - last cycle before treatment. I went for an injectables planning session last week (six months of Menopur in lieu of one IVF cycle) and when scanning me the nurse (to her surprise) found an egg, so was all like 'ooh get busy you might not need treatment after all'. That was CD18 and now on CD24 and I am instructed to test/ring them on day 35 which I think is Friday 9th October. I've done a few OPKs but only got faint lines (which is more than I've ever had before - except on one occasion). Well we'll see what happens...

DizzyNorthernBird · 22/09/2015 10:01

woolly I bought a book which teaches you from scratch. I did learn to knit in primary school but as that is about 25 years ago I need help to get me going again! The book starts off easy with knitting simple bags and scarves them progresses onto toys, socks and jumpers! I'll see if I can post a pic of the tree decs, they're very cute!

DizzyNorthernBird · 22/09/2015 10:06

These.

I'm loving the Santa!

DizzyN I was on the implant for 5 years (2 different ones)... they were OK, only a few periods in those 5 years which was good! But definitely affected my libido :( I thought it was just me 'getting old' but since coming off it, I feel totally different! I also think it was making me have mega mood swings, and I know I was being completely irrational at times, but couldn't help it-again I put it down to getting old (I am 31 after all!) but I do feel like a fog has lifted since coming off it! All in all, I feel great, but it was the right choice for me in that I didn't have to think about contraception (I had previously been very poor at taking the pill).

Update from me-I'm not really charting nor OPK since it's my first cycle (nearly 3 weeks from implant removal) but I am sort of trying to time things (going on the start date of my last period, approximate cycle length-but it's been about 10 years since my body had a proper cycle!) and according to the ovulation calculator thingys I should be ovulating around about now, so we DTD on Sunday (which was better than it has been in a long time!) and then yesterday I noticed EWCM throughout the day-so we DTD again last night (DH didn't complain!).

Does anyone try and stick to the 'every other day' rule rather than every day? DH is 28 so I figure he's young and relatively virile to be able to manage every day Grin but should we keep it up or maybe have a break for a day? I am quite enjoying this new found libido!! Wink

flymo79 · 22/09/2015 10:55

flybynight, I need to channel some of your dtd enthusiasm!! it's all I can muster to do it eod!! but sounds like you might be getting your timing right, so go with it, I say!!

Flybynight1 · 22/09/2015 11:21

Flymo sending horny vibes your way!!! ;) How long have you guys been trying? I don't expect to be able to keep this up, but whilst it lasts I'm going to try and enjoy it :D it's been quite refreshing

DH and I only ever argue about sex (or the lack of it, from my side)-unless I was feeling really relaxed (which was barely ever!) I couldn't really enjoy it, and I can't count the number of times we've started but I just can't get into it so I've stopped it, we've rowed and the next time we do it is crap... I'm wondering now if it was due to the implant affecting me.

We were watching TV last night and DH cooed over a cute baby-I nearly jumped him there and then!! Blush

Hairstylisttoboris · 22/09/2015 12:01

fly we do eod because of our ages and pressurised jobs we can't manage much more.

Our saga of the fucking annoying SA continues. DH had to re do the SA after the first sample months ago was too small to conclude anything other than a low spermies count. But now the inconvenient 'local' SA centre has shut and he will have to drive even further up the motorway to bloody Basingstoke, I mean who goes there?! making it more inconvenient and annoying. Thanks nhs. All for the privilege of being referred for ivf which we will have to pay through the nose for.
Rant over.

flymo79 · 22/09/2015 12:36

that's pretty shit boris, annoying that you can't do it by post!
we went to a clinic to do dh's and when he met me in the waiting room, after doing his business, I apparently said 'that was quick'! which you should never say to a man after that sort of appointment.... ahem.
flyBN, this is our fourth or fifth cycle (depending if it's me or dh you ask) of ttc #2 ... who we conceived on 4th cycle two years ago

Woolly84 · 22/09/2015 12:49

dizzy I love the Christmas decorations! Grin I also learnt at primary school and then forgot, I think we have quite similar books, though I find myself watching YouTube videos as I can follow them a bit more easily than the book diagrams.

Good luck to all those on a dtdathon! Wink

DizzyNorthernBird · 22/09/2015 14:17

hair that is really inconvenient. Why do we even bother paying our NI these days? A rant for another forum I suppose.

flyby hopefully you'll recover fast from having it removed and conceive quickly then. That's a good sign you're seeing ewcm already.

We're trying every third day this month, only because DP struggles with eod or more and we usually end up arguing about dtd because I want to get the job done regardless of how tired we are etc, and also because it's depressingly routine and lacking in passion (personally I think it's pointless trying to pretend it's something it's not....we both know it's all about getting sperms into position and that's that.). I've told him every third day isn't enough but at the same time I think we've got nothing to lose in giving it a go, as at least there's a plan he can stick to and he knows what's expected of him and when! He should also be able to keep the momentum going at that pace which is important in case I ov late again.

Then when this method fails, which I'm sure it will, I've got a strong case for persuading him to give eod another try Grin

flymo79 · 22/09/2015 14:37

I like your thinking Dizzy, esp the bit about keeping up momentum if you ov late, that is me every month! We kick off as soon as af is over, and after a week I'm fed up (and not exactly enjoying it to its full, you know, potential) and we've still got another week to go! Hmm ! ha ha!

Nomio23 · 22/09/2015 16:40

Boris, that is really annoying about DH's test. We had a similar situation with my DH. Our local place has shut down, so he had to go all the way over to Cambridge to hand his in. We are in Herts & it was about an hour's drive each way. Hopefully it will be worth it & you will know for sure if he has a problem or not.

Dizzy, I think everyone gets bored with TTC sex at times. We try to make it fun some days, but other times, it is purely a case of getting the goods up there!

I think it is really cool that so many of you are learning to knit. I do crochet, which I find easier & find it is really good therapy, plus you can make cute stuff!

Fly, your story made me laugh! That is the kind of thing I would say!

This TWW seems to be going really slowly for me. I still feel ill, so haven't been out the house much & I think that is why. My cold seems to have mutated into a cough/suspected chest infection. Sad

chopsface · 22/09/2015 17:01

Me and dh used to do it once early in the cycle to refresh the spermies and then do opks. And only really DTD EOD if that when the opks took on colour! The month we conceived we didn't even do a refresh the sperm session! DTD cd11 and 13 only all cycle. So personally I don't think it's masses of shagging that gets you preg, but the timing and pure luck!!

Nomio23 · 22/09/2015 17:18

I agree, Chops. We have tried everything-every day, eod, SMEP, etc & it doesn't seem to make a difference. The one time I did get PG, we didn't have a pipe clearing session, due to illness, then did it 3 days in a row. It all comes down to luck.

chopsface · 22/09/2015 18:17

Oh I didn't know you'd got pregnant once nomio how long ago was that? If you don't mind talking about it? You are so overdue your bfp hun. Hope you feel better soon too x

Pixa · 22/09/2015 18:29

Just popping by to send you all positive vibes and wishing you all well.

Nomio23 · 22/09/2015 18:43

Thank you, lovely Chops. It was last summer. I started bleeding after a couple of weeks. Sad I still think about it all the time, but just tell myself there must have been something wrong. I would love it to happen this month as it is DH's birthday in a few days & it would be the best gift ever!

Pixa, how are you doing?

Flybynight1 · 22/09/2015 18:52

Nomio so sorry to hear that :-( at least you know you work, but it just wasn't meant to be that time... FX you aren't waiting too much longer x

So, just out of interest (since I'm pretty new to this game!), we've been discussing the when, but HOW is everyone doing it?? Normally I prefer girl on top, but I'm reading that isn't the best way to get sperms to where they need to go (damned gravity!!). Him on top just doesn't do it for me (he doesn't care either way!), but should we be thinking efficiency over enjoyment? Maybe I could learn to like it...

Also, I normally go to the loo straight after (a habit I've got into after getting cystitis a few times)-should I be lying there trying to hold it all in??? I did try that yesterday but it all came leaking out anyway... Maybe handstands?!? What is everyone doing??

Flybynight1 · 22/09/2015 18:58

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere once that when the woman orgasms then her cervix vibrates and so it can assist in getting sperm through to the womb (the sperm have to be in the vicinity in the meantime!)... Like it moves up and down and sort of picks the semen up. Anyone heard the same or did I actually dream it?

Hairstylisttoboris · 22/09/2015 19:02

fly I'm not sure that position makes a massive difference but try to lie down for a little while after. The jury is out over wether bum on pillow (bop) after works. But peeing straight after sex is, I think, frowned upon by the bumsnet best practice guide.

I think position is down to what you both enjoy. Ttc can become soul destroying after a while and so you need to keep the sex as fun and inviting as you can, if you can, not everyone does manage that!

here endeth todays verdict on how to get up duffed-ded by someone who's never managed it.

Hairstylisttoboris · 22/09/2015 19:06

to pixa and chops. Flowers to nomio - you've had a tough journey. Xx

Cairomama77 · 22/09/2015 20:11

Hello everyone. We have 2 now and don't ever try for kids we just don't not try, get it? So no idea of ovulation or all that. Just know when I generally get my period and it's not here yet. Should be at the latest, this weekend. So if nothing I will test on Saturday...
