pixa, and others a bit further down the investigations line, would you mind just listing what you've had? It's all very jargony. I have two friends in their late thirties who have been trying for years (5+) and one who just doesn't know where to start, what to ask for, and is reluctant as she's very nervous about being knocked-back and knowing what to press for.
Me and dh only had 21-day bloods and SA.... One friend is about to jump in to going to a private clinic to investigate ivf, I'd like to suggest what she can ask for on the nhs first....

flymo79 · 24/09/2015 09:42

congrats dizzy! If you want some hand holding through the wedding planning horror I'm right here, got hitched in may with not that long planning, had a village hall do and it was splendid

Woolly84 · 24/09/2015 09:42

nomio twerly twerly! But we love you for it hehe Grin

moomin sounds like you've got yourself covered in terms of dtd, keeping my fx for you x

pixa so nice to hear you are doing okay, and I think it's awesome you're doing work on infertility awareness - can you share anything on it??

dizzyn we had a tiny wedding with only 15 guests, it was great, definitely explore all options out there!

fly like you Id like to know what further tests are needed. The basic ones I think to get done are 21 day bloods, pelvic ultrasound and SA.

We also had a village hall do too for our wedding, was cheap and cheerful! Would highly reccomend it.

lilygirl81 · 24/09/2015 10:58

Hi all, that's me back from my holiday. AF got me while we were away, so CD6 today, and hoping things are back to normal this time.

DH and I had some pretty good chats while we were away, worked out some strategies to try and kick start his libido, so hopefully we can dtd much more this month.

Dizzy I loved planning our budget wedding, though my parents persuaded us to have a slightly bigger thing than we had thought. I found loads of really cheap ways to do things

Nomio23 · 24/09/2015 10:59

Boris, ours was a small wedding too. Just immediate family, then we had a celebration with friends in the evening. Smile

Dizzy, if you need any help, I am your girl. I love weddings & am good at researching random stuff online!

Flymo, the first things they will be sent for are day 21 bloods for her & a SA for him. After that, she will probably have a hycosy, which is where they inject dye in your tubes & then check nothing is blocked. Possibly an ultrasound, internal & external & day 3 (I think) bloods. They might also repeat the day 21 if there appear to be problems. Your friend should be referred to a specialist who will be able to help with any problems & suggest treatment. Assuming neither of the couple have children already, they should be eligible for IVF. All this usually takes a long time though, so I would urge them to get things started straight away.

Pixa, I am so glad you are doing well. It sounds like you have been really lucky with all your appointments & it is great that you are helping to spread awareness of infertility. Let us know how your appointment goes. X

I am on the train up to t'North of t'country. I am hoping if I go far enough away AF won't be able to find me! A cunning plan, I think!

Eskimo, I was in Hull a couple of weeks ago. I would have loved to have met up with you, but was just there taking my niece & nephews to the cinema. Maybe next time. Smile

Mummyofonesofar · 24/09/2015 11:16

Nomio testing with an IC in the evening at 8DPO is far twerly! I will wave at you coming up north – have a lovely day – what a nice surprise for him!

Moomin thank you, I love it round here so I would only leave if I were upsetting anyone

DizzyN I hope you feel better soon lovely, plug your nose so you don’t drip on him and DTD anyway – needs must Wink

Did we ever hear back from the occasional Bumsnetter who was going abroad for her IVF, she had one failed go then a cancelled go because a scan revealed it wouldn’t be successful before she got on the plane then she had another go and was taking her Mum?

Nomio23 · 24/09/2015 11:23

Lucie you mean? I was thinking about her just the other day. Was going to see if Sammy had heard anything.

Cupcake29 · 24/09/2015 11:25

Hi, I'm new on here & was just wondering if anyone knows if early signs are possible from 7dpo? I have very painful boobs & I don't usually get that until a day or 2 before af, could just be a coincidence ?

flymo79 · 24/09/2015 11:57

no idea cupcake, think the only way you know is if you test! welcome though!

nomio, thanks so much. I will pass this intel on. Enjoy your trip, will have my fx you outrun the witch!!

Mummyofonesofar · 24/09/2015 12:14

Nomio yes Lucie - wanted to call her lily but knew that wasn't right!

Cupcake29 · 24/09/2015 12:29

Thank you flymo79
I might be naughty & test at the weekend, it's probably a bit early but I'm so tempted ?? I know I won't be able to help myself!

DizzyNorthernBird · 24/09/2015 12:58

I often wonder about lucie too, should must be due or have completed her next round by now? I have it to mind that her next round was September.

mummy I'm going to pretend I'm ok, will have to sneak off to the bathroom to blow my nose lol

nomio thanks for the offer of help! Might just take you up on that offer if I don't get myself motivated soon lol. Enjoy your trip!

I like the idea of a village hall type affair but I live in a big town and it wouldn't feel right picking a hall randomly from one of the villages nearby. I'm not from here originally so have no connection with the area. Having said that, DP is originally from a town 30 mins away so he might know of somewhere. It would be nice doing it up north that's not my home any more either.....argh I don't know, lol.

Hairstylisttoboris · 24/09/2015 13:07

cupcake welcoe. At 7 DPO your bean would be implanting itself. Early signs are possible including implantation pains and even spotting. However our bodies do also play tricks on us, as we start looking for symptoms we often find them, things we ignor before ttc.

chops was also on a thread with lucie I think, and sammy

Welcome to all the other new folk too. so nice to have you here. May your journeys be short but fun.

Flybynight1 · 24/09/2015 13:55

Thanks for everyone's input re BD positions and 'holding it in' tips! It's certainly something I have never even considered so good ideas!

I'm on cm monitoring (not doing temps yet, first cycle after 10 years of hormonal contraception so not exactly sure how long my cycle is!) and I've today just noticed I've gone from ewcm/watery to sticky, creamy. Could that be ovulation done??

flymo79 · 24/09/2015 14:03

sounds like it fly, have you been dtd? hope you caught the egg!

Cupcake29 · 24/09/2015 14:26

That's what I was thinking, I might get these pains every month but just never concentrated so much on them - and how annoying that early pregnancy signs are the same as the signs that af is on its way Hmm it's just a waiting game I guess!

chopsface · 24/09/2015 15:24

dizzy I can't orgasm during sex, this was after dh had got off rolled over and fell asleep lol! Had a quickie by myself Blush hope your cold doesn't linger too long x

chopsface · 24/09/2015 15:30

Sorry not heard from Lucie either. My old infertility thread has died a death.

Great you're raising awareness about infertility pixa it shouldn't be a taboo. Since announcing my pregnancy I've made it clear to people that it was no walk in the park, and no we wouldn't be trying for another.

Flybynight1 · 24/09/2015 16:41

flymo hopefully we've caught it! Dtd 3 days on the trot (new record for us since about 2010!!) while I had ewcm, so fx!!

Dizzy a village hall affair sounds lovely! We went for a barn, low key and lovely and all the people we wanted there (which was only about 60). I think there's a lot to be said for low key, everyone was relaxed, including us, and I loved every minute!

nightandthelight · 24/09/2015 16:45

Ooh weddings! I agree with the small low key event Dizzy, ours cost £2000 which included a free bar and hot buffet! We got rid of the stuff that didn't matter to us like favours etc. Kept the guest list small and had an afternoon reception rather than all day. Was a lovely day :)

I love weddings so feel free to feed ideas through!

Flybynight1 · 24/09/2015 17:09

night here here!! When it comes down to it, weddings should be about the people, not all the other crap that the wedding industry insist that you 'need'!! Things people remember about our wedding-they were full and the food was tasty, the booze was free and they got bladderd, the band was inclusive and everyone had fun-even those who don't dance!! Haha

Mummyofonesofar · 24/09/2015 17:16

I hope she pops on soon to tell us how she is getting on.

lucieloos · 24/09/2015 18:16

Hello there! I was just wondering how you were all getting on and I thought I would pop my head in to say hi and then I saw you have been asking about me. Thanks so much for thinking of me!

Dizzy, that all sounds very exciting with the wedding plan. It doesn't have to be a ridiculously expensive day. There are lots of cheaper options out there so just go with what feels right for you both.

Ahh nomio, sorry to see that you are still awaiting that elusive bfp but 8dpo is definitely twerly with an ic.

Hi to mummy, night, boris and all the other lovely ladies I travelled along on this bus with for a while and also all the newbies.

I don't have any good news to announce at the moment I'm afraid. I had my next round of treatment which looked as though it would be a bit of a disaster as the new treatment plan they gave me didn't work very well for me and I only got 3 eggs collected compared to 7 the first time. I had 2 fertilise and had pretty much written it off but amazingly they were both such little fighters and made it to blastocyst stage 5 days after collection which is the stage just before they implant. One was even hatching out of its shell all ready to go.

We have decided to do embryo banking though which is where you have 2 or 3 egg collections and freeze any embryos which make it to the day 5 stage. So I now have 2 lovely little frosties to start me off and will hopefully begin my next treatment in a few days when af arrives. We have decided if we could freeze 3 more from this round then we would have a transfer before Xmas but if we get less than three we will have one more round of egg collection and start transfers in jan.

We decided on the embryo Nanking as its a little less stressful breaking it down into stages and if we are lucky enough to get a bfp then we would like a sibling at some point and I will probably be a few years older by then and egg quality won't be as good so hopefully we would have a back up in the freezer.

I promise I won't leave it so long to pop in next time and will let you know how my next round goes. I've been trying to work out if I've missed any bfps from any of the ladies who have been around a while?

Mummyofonesofar · 24/09/2015 18:30

lucie !!! Great that you had 2 frozen ready to go and another plan lined up for more - and thinking of siblings already is lovely. I hope you can manage a transfer before Christmas, but as long as there is a plan in place it is all manageable.

I got my BFP in July and am now 12w with twins Grin
