Hi ladies,

Just wanted to share my story as I know I've found so many useful on here as I have lurked.

We started trying for our baby at the beginning of last year (although I'd been off the pill for a year and a half before that and not used protection just using the 'Catholic method').

After the first few months I succumbed and used OPKs. Turns out I ovulate late (always between 19-22 days) and i've always started spotting 3-5 days before my period and then period anything from 5-10 DPO. After a trip to the doctors back in Feb we've been tested and tested and talked about our bits and sex life FAR more than I ever felt possible. All tests ok. Hello unexplained infertility and a referral to our local fertility centre (I'm 35).

Last week we had our first fertility appointment at the fertility clinic. Explained everything again (including providing my detailed spreadsheet of irregular cycles/ late ovulation dates and short luteal phases). Next step 2 day blood repeats and a HyCoSy. Nurse advised she didn't think Clomid was an option so likely to be straight to IVF.

The morning of the fertility appointment I had started spotting so I booked in for my 2 day bloods after the weekend as knew by then my period would arrive. It didn't. I checked and I had been spotting from 4 DPO to 9 DPO and then it had basically stopped. With my weird cycles I just assumed I'd missed my period this month and the spotting was it.

Today BFP 2-3 weeks since conception!!!

Still in massive shock. It's been so many months and IVF was literally staring us in the face.

My body is odd. It's VERY early days. Whatever happens though we now know we can get pregnant and I hope it gives some of you spotters/late ovulaters/ short luteal phase peeps hope!

I'm still spotting and have cramping but have far less symptoms than every month before when I convinced myself I was!!!

Good luck to you! XXXX

Congratulations on your BFP! And thank you for sharing your story. It seems that I am also in the "unexplained" camp and like you have spotting every month which drives me insane! Hearing your story gives me hope that it can happen even if it takes a long old time!

Thank you! After months and months of trying it hasn't sunk in that it's actually happening. This month made it seem so easy!!

I've continued to spot but I think that's par for the course when you are a spotter :)

We didn't do anything differently this month either. Only thing that was different was that we got confirmation that we would be getting help. Maybe that took the pressure off. Who knows. This whole thing is bonkers and I don't think you can second guess anything!!

Fingers crossed for you! Xxx
