We've just started ttc #2, and i am already obsessed with the idea of pregnancy!!!!!

Not even very sure of a lot of the technicalities cos dd was conceived without even thinking about it (lol, honeymoon baby, not planned) so this is all so new to me.

only had my last depo injection in august, so that "ran out" mid october. Am aware that this may mean i'm not fully fertile for a while, but i'm trying to block that out .

never had regular af, hence got pg with dd, but have only had one decent af since coming off depo. That started 15 days ago, and i had some ovulation like pain yesterday and the day before, but then, yesterday had some blood...... but not a proper period, so am oh so confised as to what my cycle is and will do.

not sure what else to say except...... wish i was pg!!!!!!

Good luck!!

MrsJohnCusack · 28/11/2006 22:22

sorry - went to bed
Yes - we have moved in and unpacked - feel much more at home now. Can start attempting to do things and make some friends locally now. My parents are back next week too so will get a glimpse of what life is going to be like from now on - weird!

I know what you mean about the technicalities, because DD was completely unexpected - it was very different actually 'trying'.

minxi · 29/11/2006 11:25

Hope you get pregnant soon but just to offer some advice, I came off the depo 2 years ago and am still trying with on and off bleeding fort 18 months - the last 4 months have been normal 27/28 day cycles- have been to the doctors today for blood test to check if ovulating again! Very disappointing as already my DS is 3.5 so will be quite a big gap when it eventually happens! Good luck!

alittlebitshy · 29/11/2006 17:48

minxi -
when did you start to get period backs?
I'm feeling hopeful cos although I am clearly not into a cycle yet, I have had bleeding. every 2 weeks unfortunately but I feel that some is better than none, and it is maybe a sign that my body is trying to sort itself out...

i know we've only just started trying but after seeing loads of depo horror stories I am terrified it will take YEARS!!

hi there

i am also not long off depo mine ran out in may and my cycles all messed up have now been put on hormone tablets to try and settle down my constant bleeding and pain

its really hard as i desperately want to be pregnant too

everone here has cycle buddies but we have no cycle maybe we should start a non-cycle club just for us any ideas for a good name though im useless

alittlebitshy · 29/11/2006 21:48

how about "we want babies noww" ?
lol.

how much were you bleeding???? and what did the dr say about it all and how long will you need these tabs for?

so many qsts...

I'v just started ttc too - i stopped the depo over two years ago and went straight on the pill. I have just stopped the pill recently and keep thinking "oh i think im pregnant", i haven't even had a period since coming off the pill so i doubt my feeling is right. Its all i think about at the moment lol.

alittlebitshy · 29/11/2006 21:52

oh god, me too.
am obsessed.
Feel guilty though cos I have a gorgeous lovely dd who is 3.5, but i want another baby too. Keep worrying that I'll waste away my time with her pining for a baby, but I can't help it.

am terrified it'll take me years.

Wishing you lots of luck ttc, Do try not to get too 'hyper' too soon, as depo can really screw your system up. Some women are absolutely fine with it of course and let's hope you're one of them. Like mad4girls said it can take ages to get your cycle back to normal again and unfortunately one of the side effects of the hormones getting out of your system is you may get pregnancy symptoms. So unless you have that wee stick with 2 lines on it in front of your very eyes, don't beleive what your body tells you! Took me 1 year to get proper periods back after having my last injection.

alittlebitshy · 29/11/2006 22:00

thing is all you can find on the web (and i regret looking!) are horror stories about depo - you never hear the positive!!

when you say proper periods, what did you have in the meantime, between stopping and that first proper one?? Just curious to compare..... does that make ANY sense?

tbh, when I was going through all my phantom preg symtoms in the year after having the sepo, the nurse at the fpc said that she would never recommend it as a contraceptive to anyone planning on trying for a baby for the next 2 years as it can send some women's hormones so mad. But I don't want to worry you - you will read lots of negative things about it, because it's heavy duty stuff and lots of gps prescribe it without fully knowing what the fp clinics know better cos they see it every day. I'm sure you will conceive, but I know from bitter experience that stressing about ttc makes things much much harder. I'm convinced that stress was the primary factor in not conceiving. (I had the depo before I was planning a baby, it wasn't to do with depo that I had problems ttc)

Moomin · 29/11/2006 22:07

sepo?! depo I meant

alittlebitshy · 29/11/2006 22:08

i did wonder

when i went onto it we were planning to just stick with dd, but we've changed our minds. and now i wish I'd come off earlier.

I have plenty of time, i'm only 27, but that doesn't stop me being impatient !!

i started ttc two months ago. Yes the obsession builds quickly doesn't it. I have already done about 10 tests! my cylcle is long and irregular (at least 35 days) so i never really know when period is due so i keep thinking i can justify another test. costing a bloomin fortune. fingers crossed for everyone.

minxi · 05/12/2006 09:37

Moomin - have you had a baby since coming off depo? My af arrived today 2 years and 1 month after last depo inj!! Very depressing and getting quite low about it all....
alittlebitshy - how are you ?

alittlebitshy · 05/12/2006 10:51

hi minxi - i'm ok.
Sorry about your af

I am very confused cos I have had some bleeding since coming off... i had a fairly light period about 2 weeks after jab was due, then 2 weeks later what i would call a "proper" period, you know, heavy, achey, the works. THEN 2 weeks after that I had another light one that lasted 8 days.
I am hoping it IS positive that I am having bleeding, and that there is chance that I am ovulating (I am so ignorant as to whether the womb needs to shed it's lining if an egg has not been released or if it is just doing it for the sake of it iyswim).

My sil came off the pill in jan (i know the pill is different, but it's my only rl comparison), had two periods 2 weeks apart then was pg (our niece was born yesterday!!!!!!), so I am hopeful that I may be ovulating.

This is so disheartening.. and we've only been trying this month. I wouldn't be so bothered if we were just trying and i had regular cycles so i knew what to excpect when , but to not know is absoutely yuk.

so is this your FIRST period since coming off?????

Dh keeps telling me off for reading the depo horror stories, cos clearly there must be positive ones, just that because they are no remarkable they are not known........

FWIW-I was on depo for years (about 5), came off it six months (as recommended by nurse) before TTC, DS1 conceived immediately we tried to conceive. went straight on it after Ds1 (but felt a bit too messed up, too many hormones I think), came off it 6 momnths before TTC again, took a year from last inj to conceive DS2, haven't been on it again, but took s year to conceive baby 3 (m/c at 6 weeks) fell straight away for baby 4 (m/c at 10 weeks, baby died at 8 weeks).
Had investigations and will start to TTC this month (will need injections of Clexane when get pg)

alittlebitshy · 05/12/2006 12:03

jossiejump - that's actually worth quite a lot... thanks!!! Makes me feel like we have a hope (fsmile)
Good luck ttc this time!!!

shy - no I was bleeding pretty much most of april, May and June - then I started proper cycles, I am now 28 days back to being as regular as I was before with a 2-4 day af (which isn't too bad!) and had the blood test last month to check I am ovulating and everything seems ok - just a question of timing now I guess / hope!! Fingers crossed for all... how long were you on the depo ?
