Hi everyone,

Just thought I would share a bit of a success story to give hope to other ladies with long/irregular cycles. Mine are all over the place - anything from 3 - 7 months apart. Anyway I started fertility acupuncture and taking agnus castus with a fertility acupuncturist. After just 1 session, I ovulated 4 days later and then got my first AF in 3.5 months. It's like a miracle. After I went, I could feel stuff happening down there and got loads and loads of EWCM. Of course I can't be 100% sure whether it's down to the agnus castus, acupuncture or both so I will keep doing both! Just thought I would share in case others are considering trying it as for me it has definitely worked. Hopefully will have a nice short cycle this time round :) Good luck everyone!

How much A.C are you taking? I took it before my first pregnancy but cant remember the dose and the health shop I got it from don't do it anymore.

MagpieCursedTea · 05/09/2015 20:19

That is good to hear! I had to have 3 rounds of clomid to conceive DS and we're trying for another one but my cycles are still all over the place. Clomid played havoc with my mental health and I'm not sure if I'd even be prescribed it again as we already have a child.
I was considering agnus cactus so will give it a try!

Monkey - I am taking 2000mg a day. Had to get them online as they only do a really small dosage in shops now. I do think the acupuncture has helped too tbh as I only started taking the agnus castus on the day of my second session. It just seemed to kick start my ovaries. Was a really weird feeling. CORRECTION - it was after 2 sessions that I ovulated not 1 but the sessions were really close together.

Magpie - good luck!! I have heard about clomid but I thought I would try this first. It may not work for everyone but it did for me and I hope it does for you too!

Do you take it every day?

Babycakes100 · 05/09/2015 21:46

Yep every day in the morning before breakfast and again before dinner (each tablet is 1000mg)

See that's the dose I took first time round but now you can only get a really low dose in the shops grrr Angry. Where online did you get yours?

Babycakes100 · 05/09/2015 21:55

Got them from amazon. Yeah the ones in boots and H+B were something ridiculous like 4mg! It's something to do with EU legislation

Brilliant, will take a look.

MummyBex1985 · 06/09/2015 10:40

Great to hear! I'm going to have two more cycles them start acupuncture if I don't conceive in that time. It's nice to see a success story.

Ps, I really wish they warned women how much long term BC can screw up your cycles BEFORE you have it!!

MrsC2013 · 09/09/2015 17:26

Hi Babycakes, I was just wondering whether you have any underlying issues that you are aware of that cause your long cycles? I ask as I have PCOS and have been taking AC for 2 months in the hope that it will shorten my cycle and help ovulation.

It's great that the combination is helping you. I've never thought of fertility acupuncture but may look into it :)

Sunnydays1788 · 10/09/2015 19:53

Wow, 2000mg?! I have been taking the Holland and Barrett ones for a month as I thought they were the standard dose... They are 4mg! So obviously these are going to do nothing?! Is there any evidence about what the correct dose is? Thanks

glitterpoppy · 12/09/2015 14:54

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind me joining the conversation. I stopped the pill after my wedding in April and had my first Forced AF straight away, my second AF was the 23/6 and I haven't had one since. I've thought I was about to a few times as had afew stomach pains but came to nothing. I've also started taking A.C but the natures aid ones from Amazon. Just checked and they are 400mg, I'm wondering if these are strong enough after reading the other posts?

Babycakes100 · 16/09/2015 12:40

Hey everyone sorry for the late reply. My accupuncturist is a fertility specialist and told me what dose to take. She specifically said that Holland and Barrett ones wouldn't be strong enough .
MrsC - I might have polycystic ovaries but not the syndrome?! my only symptom is irregular periods and my blood test was normal. I need to go to my GP to see if I can arrange a scan.

I really would recommend a combination of electro-accupuncture and AC

I saw lots of posts on boards like this one saying that the Holland and Barrett ones are too low, so I ordered mine from Amazon, which are 1000mg tablets to take 1-2 times a day. I chose 1 to start with but am now wondering whether to take 2? It's just that I read a lower dose is better for women with PCOS so I'm not sure whether to up it or not now as you were told what dose to take by a qualified person Confused Did she recommend that based on you having PCO or not?

Mine was diagnosed with bloods, scan and due to having irregular periods. Hopefully you'll be ok and won't have it. I'll look into the acupuncture Smile
