Hello, I had my merina coil removed three weeks ago to try for our second baby. I know it's not 100% but we have a boy and my husband and I would like a girl so we thought we'd try the shettles method. Was planning to use my period to start to guess when i'll probably be five days before ovulating and then start using kits to make sure and get a sense of my cycle. However, I was hoping my periods would have started by now and they haven't so I have no idea about my cycle. I'm worried about having sex in case it's the wrong time (I.e. too close to ovulation) but at the same time we want to get on with it. So are in limbo! So i am just wondering.....I know that there are usually signs you are ovulating..... but are there signs you are five/six days before? Or will i havr to wait until i have regular periods to know? And is that fact that I've not having a period yet means I'm not even fertile yet! Sorry to be asking silly questions about cycles etc? Biology was not my strong point at school!!

Well, you either want a baby or not. Preferences aside, as it is never certain, "Im worried about having sex incase its the wrong time" makes it sound like you want a girl or nothing.

Just get on with dtding.

I agree with penny - you sound like it's a girl or nothing. Surely any baby is a blessing

MummyBex1985 · 03/09/2015 19:23

There's no method that's even close to being reliable for trying to conceive a certain sex. Sorry.

strawberrypenguin · 04/09/2015 12:33

You need to actually want a baby not a girl. You cannot pick and choose, there no way to guarantee that you will conceive a baby of a particular sex.
Why are people always anti boy on MN anyway?

slightlyconfused85 · 04/09/2015 13:48

These methods are unscientific and unreliable. You need to want a baby not just a baby girl

NerrSnerr · 04/09/2015 13:51

There is no scientific way of doing this. As others have said, if it's a girl or nothing I wouldn't try.

It's 50/50 what ever you do. so if you won't be happy with any baby don't have one at all.

a healthy baby is all anyone wants surely?
