Hi I am new to this and sorry if I have posted in the wrong place. I came off the pill in may and had a period may, June, July and I have PCOS. Gynaecologist not too concerned as all hormones normal apart from testosterone which slightly high. I had bloods done on 12th August and it showed I had ovulated. I have not had a period yet, and BFN 2 days ago and a BFN this morning using my first wee. I have period cramps, feeling sick and white discharge, sore breasts into my armpits and terrible mood swings. Do I have any chance of being pregnant ? Or should I see my doctor ?

Thanks :)

Hi gem, how late is your period? You could always take a test!

gemgems2214 · 31/08/2015 09:49

4/5 days.. I dunno whether to do another test yet..

When I fell PG with my DD (now 11 mo) I started having symptoms around the time my period was due and in fact it felt pretty much like I was about to get my period (cramps etc) and also nausea and a metallic taste in my mouth. I was testing and testing and kept getting negative results but no period. I eventually convinced myself I was not PG and that I was maybe ill but I did get my BFP a full 16 days after my period was due. I thought I'd share my experience since there is certainly some hope that you are PG. Not everyone gets a BFP around when their period is due, it can take a lot longer. Good luck. If you are worried, though, make an appointment with the GP to discuss. They can also do a blood test which I think can pick up the hormone HCG sooner than a urine test.

Thank you for replying. I did a first response test this morning and it's negative. I've got bad pain in my right side so I've made an appointment with the out of hours doctor as it's bank holiday. I really feel as though I am, but surely it would show by now.. ill let u no how I get on x

I read somewhere that a period is always 14 days exactly after ovulation! I'm not sure how accurate this is but since I read it I've checked and mine is! Sore armpits was one of the symptoms I had when I was pregnant so I think it's possible you're pregnant but have low levels of the hormone (forget the name) hope it's nothing to worry about..some people don't get positive tests for a long time

gemgems2214 · 31/08/2015 13:31

It's just hard to get my head around it.. I read that you have a period 24 days after ovulation.. but mine is just not showing.. quite worrying really as a blood test confirmed I ovulated.. see what the doctor says shortly..

24 days? That's odd because the average cycle is 28 days and ovulation is around day 14!
My cycle is about 30 days and I've been charting as ttc and my period is consistently 14 days after ovulation

When I was pregnant, I was convinced I wasn't because it felt exactly like my period was just about to come. Looking back, I can remember moments of overwhelming tiredness, hormonalness and not enjoying my cups of tea - all unusual. The sore breasts followed soon afterwards. Did a pregnancy test when I was about a week late (the day before starting IVF). Shock of my life :)

gemgems2214 · 31/08/2015 14:04

Sorry.. 14 days im on my phone. Well when I saw my doctor last Thursday he was going through my results and said yep you've ovulated and you should expect your period in a week or two.. but I have this ungodly pain in my lower tummy like someone is sitting on my tummy.. I just don't get it. I hope I am but I am losing hope.

Your period can come anywhere between about 10-16 days after ovulation, this differs person to person.

Could your pcos be causing a long cycle? You've not been off the pill for that long and your body might still be settling down. There's lots of threads on pcos, I would post on one of those to see if anyone can offer you any advice.

Of course you may well be pg so I would keep testing every few days & see what happens!

I tested the Friday my period was due, the Sunday after as well and both were negative. The next Friday I had a positive. I also have PCOS.

gemgems2214 · 31/08/2015 14:21

I'm just concerned as I definitely ovulated but just not had a period.. not very often do I sit here wanting it to come. It's just strange as I have the symptoms of pregnancy but tests arent giving me results.

Hi, I was different to your situation as I got BFP the day before my missed period but then I started to get what felt like my period coming. I was actually annoyed with myself for testing so early cause I convinced I was getting period. Cramps felt very similar to period cramps, sore boobs, the usual.

I know people who've tested negative so there is every chance you're pregnant. In saying that I agree with PPs that it could just be your cycle settling down after being on the pill. I'd leave it a couple of days and if still no AF then test again! Good luck, keep us posted!
