Ahhhh, all the uncertainty is just a real nuisance, isn't it Emzlou!? I wish getting pregnant was like flicking a switch and was a bit more instantaneous. Would help with the mental torture of it all - and I'm only Cycle 1!

I am a week off testing. AF is due next Wednesday but promised myself I'd only test on Friday if AF was late. That's estimating that my cycle will be about 32 days. I've been HYPER-aware of what my body is doing this month and have convinced myself that my boobs are more ache-y and bigger than usual for this time in my cycle (I do usually get ache-y boobs before a period) and have been feeling quite crampy which I'm not usually - including some quite sharp pains? And I promised myself I would try not to symptom spot... Keep telling myself that our chances aren't very high this month and not to get my hopes up... but it's so hard!

DH is being very sweet though. I'm trying not to share a lot of my pregnant-paranoia with him as don't want him to think I'm as obsessed with it as I am (!!!!), but I actually think he's trying to symptom spot too! Any time I mention something like feeling tired, or achy... he gets so curious! "Is that normal, sweet?" "How long have you felt like that?" "Why do you think that is?"

Bless him. He quite often doesn't express how he's feeling outright so although we're obviously actively trying to get pregnant, I'm never quite sure how excited he is about it or how soon he'd like it to happen so these little things just give me little clues!

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 04/09/2015 13:40

Oh I know ToffeeApple the symptom spotting is a nightmare.

I'm CD6 - tomorrow I will start testing on my clear blue fertility monitor. I think I'm in for a long haul though as the last two months I've ovulated late - not until CD18 or so.

Violet88 · 04/09/2015 13:49

Toffeeapple sympathizing with you as also in the 2ww, AF is due anytime between Monday and Thursday (cycle usually between 26 and 29 days). I'm also trying to tell myself not to get my hopes up and that our chances aren't that great this month. We've dtd every 2-3 days throughout this cycle so if I ov'd theres a chance we caught it, but I didn't get any positive opk (although tbf only testing once a day from cd13), so I'm telling myself I've got little chance, but then still worried about getting AF/BFN. As i think it will feel especially hard this month as its our 6th cycle, and I keep reading stats like 75% get pregnant within 6 months Sad

ToffeeAppleMarsBar · 04/09/2015 14:08

Ooooh keeping my fingers crossed for you Violet - hopefully this will be your month! You could be in that 75%, but even if you're not... you'll get there. I feel so silly getting my hopes up on cycle 1 but you can't help it, can you? I'm trying to keep myself occupied but being sat at work all day doesn't help... my work just isn't interesting enough to keep me distracted. I also selfishly am really hoping I can go on maternity leave before we have a REALLY insane and busy period next June/July.

I'm the first of my friends (as far as I know) to be actively trying. One of my besties had a baby a couple of months ago but it was very much an unexpected pregnancy... I keep thinking that if she managed to do it accidentally, surely I'll have better luck if I'm actively trying? It just doesn't work like that though, does it?

I didn't get any positive OPKs but I think I may have started testing too late or something... and I only tested over a 5 day period as then went camping with my parents and didn't much fancy peeing into a cup on a campsite. Also, I find it really hard to know how dark the testing line has to be...! How dark is dark enough? It's confusing.

CarrotVan · 04/09/2015 14:18

Darker than the control line for opks toffee

ToffeeAppleMarsBar · 04/09/2015 14:49

Thanks Carrot - definitely didn't have a positive when I was trying then! Who knows what that means. To be honest, I'm not sure I'll keep up with OPKing... I think it put too much pressure on things and I have now realised that DH does not perform well under pressure! Just going to try and be relaxed about it and enjoy the fun times when the mood takes us.

Thisisbonkers · 04/09/2015 15:36

I think I'm now into my tww but as I never actually got a positive on the opk I'm assuming I've not ovulated Sad that's 9 cycles of no positives though so I'm hoping I'm just doing it wrong Sad (one positive at the very beginning - lulling me into thinking it would be an easy ride).

Quell · 04/09/2015 15:52

Bought an Infant car seat and isofix base today from mandp. The temptation (price wise) was too much! Our youngest would still fit in it but dh suggested keeping it new for the next one. I don't know who is maddest!

ToffeeAppleMarsBar · 04/09/2015 16:14

Ha ha Quell - good to spread the cost of these purchases out at least!

Come and join us in the TWW madness bonkers - what time of day did you OPK? I've heard you can sometimes miss your peak if you try and the wrong time of day and I've heard some people test twice a day!

Emu123 · 04/09/2015 16:20

Toffeeapple, it's hard to not let it take over but I think it gets easier - I was crazy in my first month and feel less so now! Fx this is your month though!! You never know.

I really struggle to get a positive on opks. I find the clear blue dual tests a lot easier as don't have to worry about holding my pee in the afternoon!

Emu123 · 04/09/2015 16:38

I am getting frustrated as af still hasn't started but I'm still spotting - only when I reallt wipe (tmi!) but it's getting heavier. I am definitely late now but don't think there is any point testing - think if I saw a line and carried on spotting/got heavier I'd be gutted so would rather not know if it's a chemical :(

star1980 · 04/09/2015 21:01

Period arrived today so I'm out :( onto cycle 11. Best of luck to everyone, hope there are more BFPs on this bus!

Thisisbonkers · 04/09/2015 21:35

toffee, I was doing 7am when I get up, and between 7 & 8pm when getting home. I can't bring myself to do it at work Blush I think my peak would have been on Weds. Fingers crossed!

Spotsondots · 05/09/2015 08:56

It's day 43. BFN. No AF. ANOTHER 12 week scan pic and baby announcement on FB this morning. Feeling pretty shit about it all. Going to make a GP appointment next week and wait for AF to arrive...Sad

FlatWhiteToGo · 05/09/2015 15:35

Hi everyone

Sorry I've been quiet for the past few weeks. I'm still lurking but haven't been posting much as the whole TTC thing has really been getting me down. I really thought this was our month, but then AF came a few days ago and hit me like a massive sledge-hammer Sad.

If it's ok I'll stay on this bus, although my OTD is in Oct. It looks like there have been a lot of BFPs lately. Hopefully us stragglers can catch up and get one too!

So here goes...

STATS:

AGE: 30
TTC: No 1
CYCLE: 10
OTD: 3rd Oct (possibly 2nd)

KittyandTeal · 05/09/2015 17:04

Sorry to hear you're feeling low flatwhite. I'm also feeling odd about ttc. I think I'm mainly trying to ignore it atm. According to ff I ovulated on day 16 which is really late for me.

Tbh I may as well add my stats for next month, I'm only 3dpo but the closest we dtd to ovulating was 4 days. I also seemed to have creamy cm on the days leading up to ovulation where as I had ewcm while we were dtd. So I think none of them will have survived that long.

It seems to be such a long road

Thisisbonkers · 05/09/2015 19:33

It gets me down too, flatwhite. My best friend's mum told me I suited it and when was I going to have a baby the other night when snuggling friend's oopsy baby (her third). Like it's that easy Angry

Emzlou15 · 05/09/2015 23:54

Looks like I may be out of September..? (TMI inbound) Found the smallest amount of spotting in my pants and then no more when I wiped but am expecting AF to show up in full force tomorrow morning.
Won't be too dissapointed with an AF as this is first cycle off the pill so it will be good to just know what's happening with my body!

FlatWhiteToGo · 06/09/2015 08:46

Thanks Kitty - I'm sorry to hear you're probably out. Hopefully next month will be luckier.

Bonkers - I'm sorry you're having a tough time too. We're about the same stage, aren't we? Have you seen a doc or had any tests done? I am so sorry about your friend's mum's comments; people just have absolutely no idea. 3 months before we started trying my 19 year old cousin met her (now) fiance. In that time she has managed to get pregnant AND have the baby (simply unbelievable!). This has all been a massive stab in the heart, but the other day when I met said baby and was doing my best to be brave and not cry she said to me and DH "Why don't you two have one. You've been together ages and babies are awesome'. FFS.

coco808 · 06/09/2015 08:48

Hi Everyone! sorry to hear that some of us are having a hard time. TBh i've been really struggling too as two best friends are pregnant and sharing all their happy updates and I was due the same time as them.

Regarding OPK worrries... I just wanted to share my experience. I wasn't getting a smiley on my digital CB before I had DS. i panicked so much and worried. Then I started doing the CB 2-4 times a day once I saw EWCM. I did it for around 4 days only and now I tend to always pick up a solid smiley. It tends to happen around 4 p.m. for me and is sometimes gone by the same night. It was the same in the cycles I conceived, so don't worry, you can obviously still get pregnant even if your surge is short. Also I ovulate cd 21-ish in a 34 days cycle

So I am in the 2 ww. Although my temps are too erratic this month and I don't think I have ovulated. Not much hope.... Sad

Belle8 · 06/09/2015 09:32

Hi cocothanks for that it does make it easier when you hear similar stories! I think I may of ovulated around CD21/22 but I didn't bother with anymore opks. Even when I did get ovulation signs we still kept to DTD every other day so doubt that will be enough. So I guess I'm in the TWW now too. Think I need to update my stats as cycle was way longer:

ETD: approx 20th / 21st September

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 06/09/2015 13:59

TMI alert - I'm CD8 today. My period finished on CD4, as usual. But yesterday and today I've been having some brown discharge when wiping after going to the loo, kind of like old blood? No red or pink at all, and it's very light. I had a clear smear and a colposcopy in July (follow up to treatment last year) so I think it's unlikely to be an issue with my cervix.

Does anyone else ever get this? There's no smell or itching or anything like that. Is it just one of those things?

ToffeeAppleMarsBar · 06/09/2015 14:38

Keeping my fingers crossed that AF doesn't rear her ugly head for you EmzLou - you never know!

AND BIG HUGS to flatwhite, Kitty and Bonkers - it's seems so unfair that those actively trying can have such a hard time when some people get pregnant by accident. Love the term oopsy baby. Great way to describe it! I echo... if only it was that easy!

I'm the first of my friends (as far as I know) to be actively trying. I was determined not to tell anyone but ended up confiding in one of my besties who has recently had an oopsy baby! Felt like she might understand but she doesn't really... I imagine she'll think it's super simple to get pregnant! She did it without even trying (although, I have a sneaky suspicion she may have not been that active in not-trying...).

I'm 5 days away from testing. I could technically test on Wednesday I think (when AF is due), but I'm going to wait until Friday (if I can!) and AF doesn't show up. Fingers crossed.

Thisisbonkers · 06/09/2015 19:44

I'm cycle 10, I think flatwhite. No tests yet but I think I will make an appointment next month, or maybe the month after.

That's good to hear about the opks. Reckon I could reasonably take a strong negative as a rough estimate of ovulation? I really can't bring myself to do it at work, not least as I'll have nothing to pee in!

Quell · 07/09/2015 01:44

thisisbonkers I get round the testing at work situation by having a small make up bag with me. It has in it ov/pg strips and an assortment of lids (pump toothpaste/old toiletries tops/deodorant caps etc) which I have flash sterilised. I can then chuck them after peeing.

Maybe cut up egg boxes could work too?
