Ladies -
Have just started trying for No 2 and am a bit confused. AF started Sat 4th Nov and lasted till the Tues. Is ovulation approx 14 days after START or END of period?? i.e is it too late to ttc tonight??!!

CD1 is the first day of your period

basilbrush · 23/11/2006 19:25

Aha - so CD20 today then. So impossible any babies could be made ce soir then...

Basil it depends on how long your cycle is. I wouldn't say impossible. I think I OV on CD19 so give it a good go anyway ;)

The phase from the day you OV to the first day of AF (CD1) is usually 12 - 16 days. Its called the Luteal phase. Some people have shorter Luteal phases, they work this out from temping and OV tests. If you have a luteal phase that is too short eg. 1 - 9 days ish then you can't be pregnant.

So if you count back around 14 days from CD1 then that gives you a rough idea of when you OV. So if your cycle is 28 days then yes you could OV on CD14 but if your cycle is longer then you could be OVing later or now!

Have fun!

Thanx cityangel! Another stupid question - this whole egg white malarky - is that, ahem, cooked egg white or raw?? (can't believe I'm asking this). Certainly have lots of the latter today.

Raw. It should stretch between your fingers long stringy. Good sign! Any idea how long your cycles normally are?

Been so long since I had a "proper" period, I can't actually remember. Got PG with DS straight after years on the pill and have only had the one AF on the 4th since I stopped breastfeeding him in September. So, to be honest, things might be all over the place at the moment...

Hey Basil you sound super fertile!

I've never been pg so can't help on the breastfeeding front and cycles but this link should help:

Good luck
