Hmmmm, puzzler. Any advice on this please?

Hi,

Wondering if anyone had any ideas what might be going on here... I am ttc DC2 and thought until about half an hour ago I'd had an early miscarriage last week. But today I had a nagging feeling I should take a test and I got a positive! Now, I know HCG can remain in the blood after a miscarriage so I'm not getting my hopes up, but the odd thing is that I had several negative tests before the bleeding started, and only one single positive (on a Clearblue digital). It went like this...

LMP 22nd June
BFP Clearblue digital 21st July
BFN cheapies 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th July POAS addict
Heavy bleeding presumed mc 25th, 26th, 27th July
Light bleeding 28th July
BFP cheapie 1st August

Any ideas what could have happened? I'm assuming the worst and that something has just gone weird with the hcg and that I am not in fact pregnant, but I'm also thinking that perhaps there's a tiny glimmer of hope?

I wish I could offer advice! . I think you've probably hit the nail on the head with your options. Either was a mc and you've still got a bit of hcg hanging around or it was a bleed but not a mc and you're still pregnant. Maybe leave it for two days then test again? If still positive then visit an epu or your gp for bloods?

another option is that it could have been twins and you lost one?

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I did wonder about the twin possibility, it seems like a feasible explanation.... But also got myself all concerned about an ectopic due to some ill advised googling. I live abroad and they won't see me at an EPU for a scan or hcg blood tests unless there are other symptoms to indicate an ectopic - they've said I'll have to go privately at this early stage if I want to get a scan. I'm considering booking one for a week or so ahead...

Yes, hate to say it and of course it's much more likely that all is well, but I did think ectopic when I read your post. Slow rising HCG and bleeding. Can't you just tell them you have pain on one side? Get a scan/bloods and just be sure. All the best x

Again,not to say it is or is even likely to be.... But it's possible.

Of course, just driving myself mad with all the possibilities swimming round in my head! Am going to book a private scan for a week or so's time and monitor the situation and try not to overthink or overgoogle
