dizzyn and wooly do you know when you will test yet?

Can anyone remind me what the issues are with visiting spas and being post ovulation? I remember discussion a while ago about some people avoiding spa trips but I can't remember why

Woolly84 · 06/09/2015 15:28

boris I thought it was something to do with avoiding overheating, so maybe avoid sauna/steam room? Hopefully somebody else knows a bit more!

I don't think I'll be testing until I'm definitely late, so next weekend unless AF rocks up before then! How about you?

Hairstylisttoboris · 06/09/2015 15:53

I would be due to test on the 14th /15th (Monday and tursday). We are away next week, just trying to work out whether to pack frers so I can ruin my holiday by testing early. Or whether I leave them here and ruin my holiday by not testing and wondering.

DizzyNorthernBird · 06/09/2015 17:15

No idea boris as I'm not sure when af is due...if it hasn't appeared by next Sunday then I'll test then. I don't have any tests at home and I don't want to fork out and test if it's still actually too early.

DizzyNorthernBird · 06/09/2015 17:16

boris ignorance is bliss....I'd wait until I got home if I were you!

DizzyNorthernBird · 06/09/2015 17:26

Also my temps are on the downward slide, so I doubt I'll make it until next weekend without af showing her evil face.

lilygirl81 · 06/09/2015 17:30

I seem to have every symptom today, managed not to poas, waiting until tomorrow. I am stupidly emotional, have lots of creamy cm, tired, unbelievable sense of smell and we dtd earlier and it felt like my cervix was really low, which Google has told me is a good sign. With yesterday's tentative BFP, I really have everything crossed. Trying to stay rational that it is much more likely to be a CP, and not sticky, but hard!! I did do another cheapie test which was a BFN later on yesterday, so know not likely.

Hairstylisttoboris · 06/09/2015 18:24

lily sorry for the confusing bfn after tentative bfp. Are you using the same brand? Symptons sound good.

lilygirl81 · 06/09/2015 18:40

It was a different brand, supposed to be the same sensitivity though. I have been going mad, in by myself and tearing my hair out. Don't want to waste a PG test, but after some googling, thought I may as well use up some of my OPKs as starting the clear blue trial next cycle and so don't actually need these ones any more. Anyway, photo below shows the two tests, the top 2 green ones are the darkest lines I got at OV, the bottom one is today. The same on the pink, the one on the right is today, and the one on the left was on the day I think I might have conceived. I know this is completely inaccurate, but why else would the lines be darker?

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 06/09/2015 18:48

lily are these ovulation tests or pregnancy tests I'm confused

lilygirl81 · 06/09/2015 19:05

They are OV tests, I know it doesn't really tell you much since you always have LH in your system, but from what I've read, if the line is darker than when you had your surge, then it can be a decent indicator. Grasping at straws I know, but was just wondering if anyone else had tried this.

Hairstylisttoboris · 06/09/2015 19:49

lily sammy did some research recently which said that you can get a false positive on an opk if you use them as a pregnancy test. Unfortunately I think if you want a reliable result you need a proper pg test. I buy cheap ones from amazon, they can still be unreliable but better than opks. Sorry :(

lilygirl81 · 06/09/2015 20:01

boris if I'm honest, I do know exactly what you say, just one of those days I think

Hairstylisttoboris · 06/09/2015 20:19

We all have them lily I didn't mean to burst your bubble Flowers

Woolly84 · 06/09/2015 21:40

boris I agree with dizzy, try and leave the tests at home, totally understand how tough it is not knowing though!

lily hope you're okay Flowers

I'm making up for it being Monday tomorrow by indulging in some sticky toffee pud Grin

DizzyNorthernBird · 07/09/2015 06:47

Temp is down again today, ugh Sad. Just want af to hurry up now....I'm hoping this isn't going to drag on all week.

loopylou1984 · 07/09/2015 07:03

Just a quick post to Lily - I had a pos opk a couple of days before AF. According to google you get a LH surge right before AF. So I guess you can expect AF shortly, and if she doesn't rock up within a few days buy a pg test as, yes, you will also get a pos opk then pg because the LH is so similar to HCG. Good luck lovely. X

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 07/09/2015 07:41

lily I think the only way you will know is by doing a pregnancy test. Good luck.

DizzyN we had sticky toffee pudding yesterday too. It was yum.

Well cd 10. We managed to dtd on cd 8 & 9. We will dtd again on cd 12 which will hopefully be enough to flush out before ovulation or I may well miss ovulation with DH working away. But hoping on dtd cd 14,15 & 16. Smile

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 07/09/2015 11:37

Oops it was wooly that had the sticky toffee pud. I'm struggling on the site it's not very good.

Boris I would try not to take the tests but I probably would because I'm addicted. It would be a lovely BFP gift for when you get back. Hopefully you won't think about it as much being away Smile

lilygirl81 · 07/09/2015 14:13

well a BFN this morning, but still no AF which was due today. Sammy thanks for the post, that makes a lot of sense, it's good to have some idea about what is going on.

BabyBumpHopeful · 07/09/2015 18:11

It's been a while since I posted, took some time off to destress a little.

As I said last month, decided to do some testing this cycle. I had:

  • Antimullerian Hormone: 3.35 ng/ml
  • Insulin total: 20.5 (I only fasted for 8/9, instead of the 12-14...)
  • Glucose: 95
  • FT4: .90 ng/ml
  • S-TSH: 2.05 international units/ml

All those results are "normal" according to my doctor. I then had an ultrasound to check my follicle count and have 4 on the left and 5 on the right, again "normal" (I'm 32).

The doctor wasn't a nice man (different to my regular person) but told me that they'd wait till officially a year to do the "dye" test and also that we should wait for DH's sperm analysis. He did give me a slip to do the progesterone test but only after I mentioned my short LP (32 day cycle, OV CD20) and whether we should check that too.

After discussion with DH though we're stopping the testing until January. As we're in the US we actually pay for medical care and we haven't used it at all this year so we're paying the full deductible before insurance covers 80%. He needs surgery again (nothing life threatening) so that'll help with his deductible, and we'll have 12 months before we need to start paying deductible again... this thought process only came along after the bill for the blood tests :S

Not the end of the world, we'll keep TTC the "normal" way and see how we go!!

Hope everyone else is doing well :)

lilygirl81 · 08/09/2015 09:20

Babybump At least those tests seem to have good results, although I sometimes find I wish that they did show something just so that I'd know what the problem is. DH is waiting on results of a brain scan, and while we really do want the all clear, we would also love it if something simple to fix got identified. You never know, taking the pressure off and just TTC casually may just get you that BFP.

Well, went to bed last night convinced I would wake up with AF, but still no sign. Ovia has me 2 days late now, but also says I have 2 days until I should test, which seems odd but might be down to a slightly late OV. Managed not to poas, as I'm pretty confident she is on her way, just wish she would hurry up already!

DH and I are heading off on holiday to the Lake District a week today, so if things get moving I could be around peak while we are away, and it's always easier to dtd loads when you are relaxed and on holiday. We have also decided that if DH isn't overly in the mood, we will try various 'other' activities, so if that jump starts things, or if not, have bought some of the kits to allow us to do the 'turkey baster' method. I would really love it to happen next cycle, as that would be us at 12 weeks before Christmas, so would be able to tell people and avoid the awkward not drinking questions.

Woolly84 · 08/09/2015 10:24

Morning ladies! Hope everyone is well.

dizzyn any sign of AF?
beautician I hope the dtdathon is going well! Wink
babybump that's great that the results came back normal - and fx you get your BFP before going back to the docs
lily it's torture when AF is late, try and take your mind off it on hols, relax and have fun and dtd lots! Smile

11 dpo for me today, not feeling any different to any other month so far!

DizzyNorthernBird · 08/09/2015 12:13

Morning!

woolly af is on its way.....brown cm has arrived as I predicted(and I'm smug because that was by my prediction and ff has got it wrong!!). So af will strike either this evening or tomorrow.

I'm not too bothered by it this cycle, I wasn't expecting a bfp anyway due to our lack of bd'ing at the right time with me ovulating so late. Although we did do it the day after ov but this would probably been far too late. Onwards to cycle 9!

I'm off to sleep now. Had to get up for work at 03.15 today!! My days work is already done! I do hate my job though Grin

baby great news on the results!

woolly fx for you!

lily hang on in there.

boris what day are you going away?

lilygirl81 · 08/09/2015 13:37

dizzy I don't know how you manage your shifts, they are punishing! Do you at least get anti-social hour bonuses etc?

I'm having to spend my whole day going through all the work I did on a case for 6 months, justify every minute of time and provide evidence for it, I'm going slowly mad!
