I couldn't be pregnant again could I?

Hi all. I hope you'll tell me everything seems normal and I'm being silly, but here goes...

Just to give some background, 9 weeks ago I had a late miscarriage at 23 weeks with identical twins. Since then my life has been a waking nightmare, but my DH and I have been very close and supportive of each other. We got right back to having sex as it just felt like a nice way to feel close. We are using condoms, but I admit there has been penetration without a condom, but no ejaculation without protection. He always put a condom on before finishing IYSWIM. I'd say we have only had sex a few times. Anyway I had my first period after the miscarriage 4 weeks ago, and now I'm getting worried cos there's no sign of another period. Im hoping you'll tell me I might have irregular periods for a while and not to get worried yet. Another pregnancy would not be the end of the world, but our lives have been such a roller coaster for the last year, this would be very confusing and hard to cope with emotionally.

I should add...before we tried for a baby we pretty much always started having sex without condom, then put a condom on for the finish, and I didn't get pregnant until we actually started TTC.

after losing my first dd at 25 weeks, I discovered I was pregnant 9 weeks later. Like you, I got my period 4 weeks and 3 days after she was born, discovered I was pregnant exactly 4 weeks later. Dd1 was born in jan and dd2 was born in nov. I'd just poas to see your mind as this is a very difficult time for you.

Thanks imip and sorry for your loss. How did you feel about the 2nd pregnancy at first? I'm too afraid to poas, I'm too afraid of what it might reveal and having to deal with a reality. Think I'd spend a full day in tears because I'm still grieving for my two precious twin girls.

Well, before conceiving dd1 we'd experienced infertility, and we were told to expect having trouble conceiving again. Using contraception never entered my mind, and I was petrified that id lose the next baby (we were told the risk was 20%). I knew though that the next baby would never replace dd1, but it was hard as I showed immediately and looked suite pregnant very soon on because it was just so close to the birth.

I was 34 at the time, had experienced infertility and lost dd, I was just absolutely single-minded in wanting a baby. This was almost 10 years ago now, but losing her is still so very sad. I went on to have a further 4 dds, and the desolation and absolute tragedy of losing dd1 will never leave me. The pain and grief will slowly get better, but you don't ever forget. I am very sorry about your little girls (xx)

Well it could be an irregular cycle or it could be a pregnancy. However you don't have to find out right now. You can perfectly well leave things a week or two and if no period, test then. I would suggest taking some folic acid just in case anyway because if you are likely ttc again it's a good idea anyway. Giving yourselves some time to just be neither pregnant nor not pregnant iyswim may be what you need. Very sorry to read of your loss but glad you and dh can be close.
