Hi ladies, is there room for a little ‘un?
Can’t see any specific entry criteria for hopping on the bus, so wondering if I might be able to join you?
I’m 33, DH 44, TTC#1, cycle 1 - although I have PCOS and the plan was for me to go straight from the pill to Clomid, to use my withdrawal bleed as CD1 - because the last time I came off the pill I had one 9-month-long anovulatory cycle! I decided however to hold off on the Clomid till after the summer, and come off the pill first, to get one set of hormones out my system before chucking another hormone at it. I absolutely didn't expect anything to happen, but I was determined to try and regulate my hormones as best I could to get in shape for the Clomid
I was pretty amazed when in my first month off the pill, I actually ovulated! AF just arrived which means I can go for my Day 3 bloods on Weds
I had a bit of a scary scan when I went for a fertility MOT scan at a clinic not far from where I was working. I had one 5 years ago, which was when I was diagnosed with PCOS, and thought I’d cough up the £200 to see how things were looking now, 5 years on. The last time, I had 42 antral follicles in total, so def polycystic, but had good ovarian reserve. This time I only had 5, which if correct would suggest my fertility has dropped off a cliff, and I’m crashing towards premature ovarian failure.
I went bawling to see my consultant, who said it could well be that they shouldn’t have done it so soon after coming off the pill - but that we’d do full Day 3 bloods, and a scan 10 days later (which will be c. 7 weeks off the pill, rather than the < 2 weeks when I had the last one), and see where things are. If the results aren’t great, and my fertility has dropped off a cliff, then we’ll doubtless be running straight to IVF as quickly as possible. Keeping fingers crossed it’s the pill giving a misleading picture (which studies have shown - women who are on or who recently came off the pill can have older ‘looking’ ovaries, than they actually do (i.e. the no of follicles and AMH rises once the pill is properly out their system). If it’s not, then I guess it’ll be a blessing to know sooner rather than later.
Sorry for rambling on!!
Thanks loads, xx
