Hi Carrot
I'm using internet cheapies, getting very frustrated with the lack of positives though. If no joy this month am planning to splash on a clearblue pack next month. Not sure temping would work for me as baby #1 is not a good sleeper and I leap (stumble) out of bed at different times depending when he wakes.

Morning,

Terrible acne and minor stomach cramps. Both classic PMS signs and not due til Thursday next week. So cruel!

I guess I should get up, right? It's pretty late. I hate Tuesdays. And Mondays. And weekends. Hmm Wednesdays are okay.
I'll just lie here with the cat for a bit longer shall I.

I've been using cheap OPKs too banana. Thankfully No.1 Son is now a good sleeper (he was a monster for the first few months) so I could temp but I'm worried about getting even more obsessive

Welcome iris

banana would you like to know how much I slept last night? Maybe two hours in total. Yes. DC is 15 months. Was awake once an hour. ONCE EVERY FUCKING HOUR. cries in despair

We sleep trained at 5 months as I was starting to hallucinate so since then he does 7.30pm-7pm straight through unless he's ill or out of routine. He had a dream feed until about 10 months and then just morning/evening bf for a couple of months, then just evening bf for a couple of months and all bf ended by him by 14 months. He has a 1.5-2 hour midday nap too.

He's 27 months now and still in his big cot because I don't trust him in a bed though. We introduced a gro clock a few weeks ago to help with the light evenings as he was not going to bed as well and that's helped.

Auf I remember a couple of nights when he fed every 90 minutes. It broke me and that's when we sleep trained. We used the "Good night, sleep tight" book

Thanks for letting me know princes am I unconsciously paving the way for twins ;-)

carrot I temp - I find dh does take more interest - however still struggles with a 2ww (as we all do) I find temping breaks af more gently as you can see its going to arrive it also shortens 2ww as you have to have 3 risen temps to show ovulation. It is a faf though having to wake at same time and remember to take temp before getting up every morning

Welcome Banana!

Carrot I might consider it a bit later. Some nights are okay, with DC only waking up twice a night. I can't figure out though if on nights like last it is because DC is overstimulated, understimulated, hungry, too full, windy, sore, teething, headachy, had nightmares, felt sad, felt excited, uncomfortable, too cold, too hot, etc. weeps

Morning everyone, may I hop onboard too please?

My cycle is all over the shop, varies from 21 to 33 days so a bit tricky to get to grips with!

I'm using the clearblue advanced fertility monitor, tracking bd-ing & periods with an app AND temping then entering results into another app. No-one can say I'm not trying!!

Anyway, I'm brand new to mumsnet and wishing you all lots and lots of luck on your journeys! x

I'm still in the tww but not holding out much hope this month, just a gut feeling.

I've use opk, softcups and pre-seed this cycle. I'm thinking next month I might try temping but I'm absolutely clueless. Can anyone give me an idiots guide?

I'm using a couple of apps so can record my temp there. My dd1 wakes me at exactly the same time every morning so it might work well.

Thanks for the welcomes! Will check out "good night, sleep tight" carrot, thanks. I tried the baby whisperer pu/pd but it was dreadful and I didn't stick to it.

Still no positive opk over here. I'm day 21 now and Ovia thinks I have 3 more days or fertile window. My cycle is 30-35 days so even if it's a long one this month surely I should have O'd by now?? Arrrrrgh

Report
marmitemofo · 14/07/2015 13:59

banana my cycles are usually 27-31 days and last month I didn't ov till CD 20 so its not too late for you!

I also tried pu/pd with my DD and failed. we never did sleep training and just stuck it out because we were too soft. it did eventually get better -- my DD (21 mths now) started regularly sleeping through at around 14/15 months (aside from the odd teething spell since then). it didn't happen overnight but just gradually got better without us doing anything.

kitty try downloading the app fertility friend it gives great wee daily lessons on temping for your first month of temping - i found it very useful. Basically temping you will see a temp rise which will stay risen for 3 days and that will show ovulation (opk shows up hormones that promote ovulation but that doesn't necessarily mean that it happened)

Then temp will dip again day before or day of AF.

Temp rise is due to progesterone.

carrot i cant remember name of thermometer at the minute will check when I get home but was only £5 on amazon. You just need one that does to 2 decimal places. Its called baby something and is pink - do a search of BBT thermometers

kitty I second what birchy said - fertility friend is a really useful app for learning how to track fertility. you want a thermometer that measures to two decimal places. just take your temp as soon as you wake up (before you get out of bed) and record it in your app. most thermometers will store the last temp so you can take it when you wake up and then check/record it when you are properly awake (if you struggle to wake up in the morning; I do as DD is an early riser). you can either temp orally or vaginally, but if you sleep with your mouth open its best to do it vaginally. its a bit odd but you get used to it.

carrot & kitty I think birchy might have a BabyMad basal thermometer which is the one I have, it's £4.95 on amazon.

marmite I had no idea about the sleeping with your mouth open bit, oops, I might have to change the way I temp, thanks for the info!

That's great. I have the ff app on my iPad but I'm not using it properly atm.

If I am cursed with af again this month I will invest in a bbt thermometer and start temping.

So the rise in temp is actually at the point of ovulation rather than the 12-36 hours after that you have with the LH surge?
