Gen so glad your mind has eased since speaking to the trial mw, such a hard time these early days, you don't know what to think and it seems a lifetime until next scan. The reassurance is such a relief!

Philippa! Gorgeous clear piccy! There's a proper baby in there!

Vicki272 · 16/07/2015 20:32

Hey ladies...

Little new to this forum stuff. Have read them before but never written on any!
I'm on the response trial in Coventry... Joined in June and have the pregnancy deadline of October... Fingers crossed huh?
We've had 3 miscarriages, the first one November 2013... Was a missed at 11 weeks. Absolutely devastating. Second was at 9 weeks and 3rd was 6 weeks.
We have had all the tests with no reported issues and womb and ovaries okay. Relieved about that as have PCOS.
Struggling with the study a bit. Think it's the constant testing.
I've ovulated this month and now on the pregnancy testing. All negative... 6 days before AF.
Got tiredness, slightly tender boobs and some aversions to smells but don't know if I am just wishful thinking??
Feeling like I am going mad!!! Anyone else feel the same? X

Genwah85 · 16/07/2015 20:37

Thank you everyone I'm feeling positive as if I don't ill go crazy!
Congratulations Philippa your scan is amazing so glad it went well for you :)

Hi Vicki, sorry your here but welcome! Don't let it get you down I was the same as you I didn't get my bfp until 19dpo....so still time till AF!

Good luck x

Vicki272 · 16/07/2015 20:46

Thanks Genwah85!
I think I'm just frustrated to be honest...
It's good to read all the lovely positive stories here though! Smile x

Marchgirl · 16/07/2015 20:51

Welcome Vicki. Sorry to hear about your losses and what you've been through. Best of luck with the testing. Some people started the testing a few days later as they found it was too stressful to keep seeing the blank day after day. I know it's not what you're supposed to do, but might make it easier next month if you don't get your bfp this month (but hopefully you will!)

Thank you Marchgirl! In guessing everyone knows how I feel? You just don't dare feel hopeful I suppose! X

Genwah85 · 16/07/2015 21:15

Vicki I'd given up for this month I literally got my positive on the day my af was due....I was really dissappointed as I felt pregnant this time same as you being tired and I hated the smell of anything cooking the sore boobs are agonising at night at the moment I'm just preying my symptoms stay as it makes me feel better!

How's things with you March? Spotting all stopped? Hope so :D

Vicki272 · 16/07/2015 22:13

Oh wow Genwah! That makes me feel a bit better. I guess it doesn't really help that my cycles are a little messed up since the last miscarriage on March.
Fingers crossed!! Hmm

Genwah85 · 16/07/2015 22:17

Mine where the same my last miscarriage was start of May, so it's going to be a tense few weeks, I'm doing the response trial from heartlands so not to far from you, all the people in this thread do nothing but sing Coventrys praises so I'm sure they will look after you! Fingers crossed for you bfp!

Vicki272 · 16/07/2015 22:54

I have everything crossed for you Gen ???? x

philippa88 · 17/07/2015 08:31

Welcome Vicki, so sorry you're here :(
You'll hopefully get strength from us all and of course the trial.
I don't see my trial nurse for another 4 weeks at my 16 week appt, and yday saying bye was quite emotional! She's been my rock throughout this!
A question for those who've had their 12 week scan - if you had the test for downs, how long did it take to get the results? She said a phone call if the risk is high, but a letter if the risk is low. Any idea on timescales?? Thanks :) x

Marchgirl · 17/07/2015 09:46

From reading about others philippa, it seems to be about 3 to 5 days if phone call or up to 2 weeks for letter

Thanks march, hopefully my phone doesn't ring!! X

clairemorgan81 · 17/07/2015 10:20

hello & welcome Vicki Smile. good luck for this month fingers crossed for you x

Choccywoccydodah · 17/07/2015 10:27

Philippa my test was back within about 10 days in the post, we were on holiday so I was dreading the phonecall while away but letter was on my mat when we got back and was dated about 10 days after the test.

Welcome Vicki, like others have said so sorry you find yourself here but hoping everything goes smoothly for you and you catch that egg before October. Nothing like a bit of pressure huh? How quickly have you caught when trying?
Cannot sing the praises of Coventry enough and what they've done for me. They've kept me going throughout all my mcs and always had something new to try. Thankfully I always caught when we tried so I knew I'd catch quickly when we signed up for the trial. I caught first month and has thankfully worked as this our last shot as I couldn't go on losing anymore.
I'll be 26 weeks/6 months tomorrow with our baby boy x

Indiedog · 17/07/2015 12:13

Philippa, I'm in agreement with choccy. A phone call would be within a few days, and the letter over a week ish. I had mine done on a Friday. Went away, come back the following Friday and the letter arrived the Saturday.

Was bumps nuchal fold measurement ok at your scan yesterday?
Ours was, but I still had the bloods done. Just wanted to know, as DD was high risk.

Hope everyone is ok. Keeping fingers crossed for sticky beans, smiley faces, and BFPs. X

philippa88 · 17/07/2015 12:46

Thanks girls - they took the measurement and said it looks normal for this size so that was a good thing. Sure they said it was 2? 2 what I've no idea! They took bloods so they can do a proper risk ratio. Hopefully I get a letter soon!
How's everyone else getting on? I just wish time would speed up - each day feels like an eternity. Got a private scan 3 weeks tmrw so on countdown till then!!! Xx

Vicki272 · 17/07/2015 13:51

Thanks lasies! I'm travelling to Coventry as they are the closest to me. I'm from northampton but to be honest they have been worse than useless! We have had 3 now, with no successful pregnancy and we weren't even given so much as a leaflet for any counselling etc.

I couldn't believe the difference when I went to the trial clinic! The support is amazing.

Catching for us is a bit hit and miss. The first time it took a year to catch after the first MC, then just a few months the 2nd time. So fingers crossed. I ovulated this month so that's a bonus... I have the PCOS to contend with too!

It's driving me a little nuts! No bfp yet... Another bfn this morning. I think I'm 5 days pre AF. But cycles are a bit nuts so not 100% sure.

I have some symptoms, boobs are tender but not really too sore. They feel bigger than normal though. I've got an aversion to some foods... Nothing in particular just a bit of a change in appetite! And I am weeing like there is no tomorrow lol.

Have had these before though and think sometimes it's wishful thinking! Just trying not to focus on it really...

I'm so pleased for you ladies expecting! Fingers and toes and everything crossed for you!

The October deadline is a little scary really...

This group is amazing so far... So nice to have contact with other ladies in the same boat. I sometimes think the men don't really understand the full extent! Xx

Indiedog · 17/07/2015 14:32

Philippa, a measurement of 3.5mm or less is considered normal. It is done when a baby is between a certain size, hence why between 11-14 weeks it has to be done.

I remember my DD being something like 5.?. But she was totally fine and after having the amino it confirmed it, so even with all the measurements and bloods to say high risk, she didn't have it.

But can you imagine having to be the person taking the measurements!! I know they are pros etc, but just a mm out here or there, or a fidgety baby, I certainly wouldn't like that pressure. Hats off to them all!

Choccywoccydodah · 18/07/2015 12:16

So I got a letter this morning from my consultant explaining about the growth scans. I have also been put BACK under consultant which I am VERY pissed off about, until 36 weeks when they will let me know at that scan if I can go ahead for a home birth. I know they're just keeping an eye on things, but just so annoyed the consultant didn't speak to Prof Quenby BEFORE she discharged me!! I asked about the growth scans etc at the appt where I was discharged too!
On a brighter note have booked 4d scan for 31st July, will be 27+6 Grin

Indiedog · 18/07/2015 13:35

What a pain choccy.
Sounds like there has maybe been crossed wires. Maybe you got discharged before either had talked to each other.
Then if one has suggested the extra scans, then the other may have then said maybe you had better be under consultant again whilst you have extra scans.
It does sound like they are trying to be very thorough though, just very frustrating to chop and change.

Lovely about 4d scan though. I'm tempted to do that too, after our little sneak peek in 4d at our private scan a few weeks ago, baby looked like a little gremlin, skinny little thing, bless. Can only imagine what he will look like once he's filled out a bit!

I've only got three days left at work next week, and then I've finished completely. I will be a lady of leisure, well apart from working for hubby's business and my one self employed cleaning job!
I even allowed myself to look at buggies yesterday, but still don't want to buy anything! Maybe get another month out the way, and see how I feel then!
Have you bought anything yet choccy?

Choccywoccydodah · 18/07/2015 17:58

Oooo very nice you'll be finished Indie! I've not worked for 6 years this September, dh for 9 years and thoroughly recommend it ha ha!
It does get boring, but it's nice to not have to get up for work :) Going to struggle come sept when ds goes to school!!

Really looking forward to the scan, we had one with ds so only seems fair we have one with this one Wink

We've got everything really from ds, I've bought the odd new thing like a perfect prep machine a couple of months ago when they had the black one half price. I'm planning to breast feed but ds was tongue tied at birth cut at 12 days and a very lazy feeder so only lasted until 11 weeks with him.
Bought some new clothes, sleep suits and muslins etc but most of ds's stuff is like new. And we still have his pram and travel system etc which is mint.
I've bought a crib and all new mattresses and bedding for that, the moses basket and cot which we have already, and a new mobile.
So we're ready really :)

clairemorgan81 · 18/07/2015 18:09

ahh choccy you are all ready really aren't you. so exciting. I can understand you being annoyed with being back under consultant but better safe than sorry I guess.

my ds had tongue tie too, it was so difficult but I ended up breastfeeding for ages and I loved it. hope you manage this time although it doesnt suit everyone, make sure they check New bubs tongue as it runs in families xx

Choccywoccydodah · 18/07/2015 19:05

I was told it was something to do with the folic acid we all take or something Hmm
However I will be checking AT BIRTH this one. I noticed it straight away but I didn't know if it was normal and wasn't until the Hv came that it was picked up. Thankfully within a week I had an appt for a few days later and he cut it the same day. I will insist this one is also done straight away x

clairemorgan81 · 18/07/2015 19:23

I've never heard of it being connected with folic acid. its so common but often not noticed with formula fed babies. Yes insist it's checked straight away, although midwives aren't the best at diagnosing it so even if they say it's not if you have pain whilst feeding and it continues longer than a few days ask for a 2nd opinion (or post a pic on here!!) I had 3 midwives insist ds didn't have one but I knew he did and it took a lactation consultant to get it sorted for me x
