PontyGirl and Dollface thanks so much for the advice, much appreciated. All the advice seemed to suggest it was best to take after at least 3h sleep - some said 4h - so if I get up at 5 / half 5 / 6 to go to the loo, it’s only an hour or two of sleep till the alarm goes at 7, so went for the time when I’d have had the sleep even if it was slightly different times

Thanks so much for the link - I’m going to see how I go and see how crazy the times end up looking

Also Dollface if you’ve lost the plot, I think most of us have too!

I went a bit mental and tested with the cheapy OPK tests twice more today, about 2-3 h apart, and the line got darker and darker. OH and I are both working at home at the moment so he was summoned…does anyone else lie back with their legs raised?!

I’m assuming it’s a false positive due to lack of EWCM, but hoping for the best nonetheless. We shall see!!

Thanks ladies xx

Hi all,
Newbie here to ttc - well actually we've been trying for 6 months now. I've got pcos and feel pregnant pretty quickly the first time. Second time seems to be not happening though. Although I was pretty slim and healthy the first time round but now have various health issues as well as mental health probs and am overweight (trying hard to loose weight at the moment but it's proving very hard) I think I need to do something drastic now as the usual way of trying to conceive isn't happening. I'm finding myself getting really stressed about the whole thing now. Not to mention I'm so damn broody. Was hoping this month will be the one but have just had AF start so no chance I could be pregnant Sad
Any pointers would be great. Thank you for reading.

soontobemrslizzy · 03/07/2015 18:38

Dollface, I know the feeling. I have a friend at work who has a four year old and is pregnant and her dad still pays for everything because she and her husband can't. It's horrid but it makes me so annoyed - dh and I have good jobs, savings, no debt, and want a baby so badly and she literally falls pregnant on the first attempt! It seems so unfair!

I've just had my ultrasound. Definitely polycystic on at least the right ovary, the left he seemed less certain. I need some advice though, ladies. In anticipation on this news and a clomid prescription (which we will be getting later this month according to the doc), we started trying. I've been temping and using opks and I'm wondering if we have a chance? I got high opk readings (clearblue dual hormone) on cd 11,12,13 &14, and a peak yesterday (cd15). Temp dipped to 36.1 on cd15 and then this morning it was at 36.61. We DTD on cds 11,12,14 and 16 (about 2am after opk+that evening). I got the opk+ at 5:45pm, it was negative (but a stronger negative than before?) by 9:15pm and had sharp pain in my right side about 5:30pm. What do you think, ladies? Do we have a chance?

PontyGirl · 03/07/2015 18:50

I would say yes Lizzy! half a degree shift is a good indication of ovulation!

PontyGirl · 03/07/2015 18:54

and your DTD timings are spot on so fx for you!

soontobemrslizzy · 03/07/2015 18:56

PontyGirl, I so hope you are right! We could DTD tonight but then I'm away this weekend and won't be back took Tuesday so if it hasn't caught yet, it probably won't this month. I'm hopeful at least that it's actual ovulation?

ShortyK · 04/07/2015 07:39

Dollface You are too funny! Grin I'm off to acupuncture after my cup of tea (decafConfused).

Have a great weekend ladies. Keep calm and carry on shagging!

battenberg123 · 04/07/2015 07:57

Arggh AF got me this morning Sad I feel like I'm going mad! I manage to symptom spot every month and convince myself I'm pregnant when I'm not; it's ridiculous!

Lizzy fingers crossed that was ovulation, I would dtd anyway just to be safe! I'm hoping to be offered some help at the gynae clinic but as I'm having regular cycles they may just tell me to carry on trying. I hope that they prescribe me clomid or something.

Have a great weekend everyone!

soontobemrslizzy · 04/07/2015 08:07

Battenburg, I'm so sorry. Hopefully they will give you some clomid to help out; how long have you been trying? It's so hard but to convince yourself. I keep trying not to but I feel a bit weird - my stomach feels really full and breasts are a little tender. But I'm trying to persuade myself it's not a bfp so i don't get my hopes up. Couldn't DTD anymore - I'm off to Scotland for the weekend so hoping we did enough!

Have a good weekend!

battenberg123 · 04/07/2015 08:23

Thanks Lizzy it really does send me crazy all this ttc stuff! On month 10 of trying now. I'm grateful for even having a cycle though to be honest as I know some ladies on here don't even have that!

Have fun in Scotland, hopefully it will take your mind off things for a 'wee' while Smile

soontobemrslizzy · 04/07/2015 08:42

Thanks battenburg. That's true, I'm lucky in that as well. I wonder if changing doctor would get you medicine quicker. My head gp at our surgery was ready to prescribe clomid asap after seeing my day 21 progesterone and irregular cycles, so maybe a different doctor would move faster!

Hope you're right. I am going up to buy a house, in one day of viewings! We move in a month and get married a week after that!

Zinnher · 04/07/2015 09:15

So many changes! Soontobe. Must be exciting and stressful time for you.

Rufus200 · 04/07/2015 11:14

banana if you DTD every other day for the next week you should be covered and keep testing, my false surges were approx 72 hrs apart and then the last one would be 14 days before AF but my false ones didn't have strong positives in the afternoon.

soontobemrslizzy · 04/07/2015 12:29

Zinnher, definitely! I really hope I find a house for us tomorrow and that's one thing off the list!

bananafish81 · 04/07/2015 21:36

Lizzy wow, it’s all go! Keeping fx for you, exciting times Smile

Pulledapart welcome! Lots of great advice here - for PCOS the main advice my consultant gave was to eat Low GL to help regulate blood sugar, as PCOS is a metabolic disorder, so balancing insulin can be really helpful. I know you mentioned AF had just started: do you have regular periods and / or know if you are ovulating? For lots of us the biggest symptom of PCOS is irregular and anovulatory cycles - making TTC somewhat difficult if there’s no egg to fertilise. If you’re not having periods or are having periods but don’t think you’re ovulating, would def be worth seeing your GP…

Rufus thanks so much! Well my cheapy OPK went DEFINITELY positive by 5pm yesterday (Friday), with the test line by this point now darker than the control line. After the peak on the CBFM that morning, DH had already got his marching orders, and we DTD again this morning…I’d had another ‘peak’ reading on the CBFM, but I’ve read that it automatically gives you a 2nd day of ‘peak’ after the first, so not sure how much stock to put in that. Regardless, by 10am this morning I’d had a negative OPK strip, so between yesterday, today and tomorrow (Sunday), I’m hoping that we’ll have timed it right in case it isn’t a false positive. I’m annoyed with myself for being so relaxed about DTD last week - my CBFM was giving ‘low’ readings until it jumped straight to ‘Peak’ on Friday, and didn’t have any EWCM, so given my body wasn’t giving any indications of being remotely fertile, and it was so bloody hot, DTD wasn’t really a top priority. Hopefully the ‘targeted rifle’ approach rather than the ‘machine gun’ approach is ok as long as the timing was right. Not much I can do about it now!!

TMI, but does anyone here who is ‘O’-ing not get EWCM? I didn’t have any (though it had changed, apols for TMI, from sticky to creamy…so was going in the right direction, possibly watery today, but def no egg-white) - so even if we have timed it right to catch an egg (if there is one!), don’t know how much chance there is without ‘fertile’ CM. Was very very liberal with the Pre-Seed so hoping that might help to compensate….!

Oh and also TMI, does anyone else lie with their legs raised afterwards? I’m dubious whether it really makes any difference at all, but DH said even if most of it gets where it needs to be right away, giving gravity a bit of help surely can’t hurt? So had the deeply unsexy and completely hilarious moving me round by the ankles to get my legs up the wall with a pillow under my bum. We had to laugh!

Shellbell0403 · 04/07/2015 22:54

Evening ladies! How's everyone this evening?

Sorry been quiet... Very confused still at the moment! Still spotting... Strange!! Xxx

chandelierswinger · 05/07/2015 10:35

Ha ha ha banana I use the legs in the air trick too!! DH says it's unlikely to help but I figure gravity could be my friend at least on this occasion (def. not my friend now I'm heading towards the hill with giant breasts!!) I sometimes get EWCM and sometimes don't, but still use pre seed anyway. (Love it actually Blush)

Hi ShellBell Still spotting eh? Confused Which CD are you on?

Welcome pulledapart I fell immediately with DC1, took 6/7 months with DC2 and am almost at the end of cycle 4 ttc #3. Read this whole thread and the previous one as there's lots of great tips! I've been choosing something new each month to keep me focused.

Sad battenberg Boo hiss to AF.

Ooh Lizzy Have fun and good luck!!!

Ginfizz90 · 05/07/2015 12:19

So looks like I may have jinxed myself when I said my cycles were becoming regularHmm AF due yesterday, have a few cramps and aches but nothing, bfn tooConfused

chandelierswinger · 05/07/2015 12:36

Gin that's pants. A BFN is rubbish but a delayed AF just adds insult to injury Flowers Hang in there.

Ginfizz90 · 05/07/2015 12:58

I could cry!!! I had a perfectly normal 34 day cycle, I was sure I oved tooHmm

soontobemrslizzy · 05/07/2015 16:32

Thanks Chandelier and Banana! I think we found a house, we're going to make an offer first thing tomorrow. Not feeling too well though, keep getting sharp pains on my right side and feeling really run down. Not a good time to come down with something!

Gin, I'm so sorry. Were you temping? Or just using opks? Hopefully this time will be the month for you.

Ginfizz90 · 05/07/2015 17:40

I used opks and also had all the ov signs. So frustrating don't know why this month is so different to last!

soontobemrslizzy · 05/07/2015 18:41

That's horrible, I'm so sorry. I wish there was more to do to help, but hopefully next month is back on track. I think I misunderstood though - do you know you didn't ovulate this month? Or did you but just got AF nonetheless?

bananafish81 · 05/07/2015 19:06

Massive hugs ginfizz. Sorry if I've missed this / you've told me and I've forgotten but are you temping? The temperature shift ought to confirm if you did O or not xxx

Ginfizz90 · 05/07/2015 19:26

Hi everyone,

No I don't temp, i am a shift worker so it just would be reliable and I wouldn't want to set my alarm at 3am everyday to check.

I had positive opk on cd 21 and then all the cramps a few days after. I didn't check again after that as assumed I had already oved!

Cd 36 today and no AF Hmm
