Hi all,
Just wanted to share what happened to me as when I was doing my research I read a few threads on here that were helpful but they were quite old. I had been on the combined pill continuously for 13 years so decided that once I turned 30 I was going to stop. We're not ttc but what my future holds is on my mind so I wanted by body to be back in its natural rhythm just in case. So 6 months after stopping the pill, nothing had happened in the period department and online sources suggested this is when to visit the doc. I was feeling nervous, wondering if years of artificial hormones had ruined my body! The doc suggested a blood test to check hormone levels which came back all normal. The doc couldn't tell me how hormone levels could be fine but not have a period and told me to return in 3 months if still nothing had happened. So now I was worried and started to look at what I could do and read about herbal tablets called agnus cactus. There was some good feedback about them but also that it's artificially stimulating your body again so I decided against taking them.
3 days before I was going to book a doctors appointment I came on my period. I did get the tale tale pains so it was expected, but it was lighter than when I was on the pill and only lasted 2 days. My next period was 7 weeks later, then 5 weeks, then 4 weeks. I'm waiting to see if I'm back to being regular now. When my hormones were getting themselves sorted I did get more spots but otherwise nothing else changed.
So I just wanted to let anyone know. And also if you are thinking about ttc to come off contraception in plenty of time as getting your period may take a while!
