I wasn't ever planning to use one as I don't like obsessing but hey ho just ordered one...when do you start using it? Does it need to be from CD1? Any other advice?

Ideally cycle day 1 but I'd start as soon as you get it. If it's not long after AF you should still have enough points to detect ovulation and if it's post ov, at least you'll know what your higher temp is. Also I started orally but points were all over the place so this cycle changed to vaginally which has been a lot more consistent. Still done a few orally as well so I could compare temps to last month.

Also, first few mornings I completely forgot to take temp so might take you a week to get into the habit.
