ovulation test detect pregnancy

ok so I'm 12dpo (positive ovulation test) and I'm still waiting for Af. I've got creamy cf and I've had a migraine which is very rare. I decided that for reason I would take a ovulation test and there is a faint line. could this mean I'm pregnant as I have already ovulated this month? I use the cheap amazon ones so there is only ever a second line if I am ovulating and any other time there is just the one line. won't be able to get a ic until tomorrow but now I'm getting my hopes up once more

It is only if you have a really strong line, as dark as the control line, that it can indicate pregnancy.

The ovulation hormone is always in our system so there will always be a faint line on the OPKs whether you are ovulating or not.

The ovulation and pregnancy hormones are very similar and OPKs detect both as they can't differentiate between the two. If you get a very dark line on an OPK when your period is due then it can indicate that there a high level of HCG in the urine.

hi themumfairy, I've had interesting opks at 12 dpo, resulting in bfn and more recently a bpd (6+4 today ). For me they were bc different.

I got faint bpf at 10dpo with frer, ic, and a faint line on an opk (i like to poss, can you tell?). By 12dpo the opk test results were v strong, my ovaries would have been proud if they hadn't already done their job. The test line much darker than control line, and much stronger than I'd seen over the last 6 months of ttc.

However, I have had cycles where I've had 2nd lines on opks after ov, sometimes just quite faint test lines but also sometimes more than one apparent LH surge. I did have a weird long cycle where af was a week late and and at 12/14 dpo was getting faint opk results but no bpf.

opks can show bpfs as the LH hormone they test for is molecularly similar to pregnancy test hormone, but absolutely no guarentee. Test again with a proper test and let us know how you get on. good luck!

When I was pg I tested using and OPK as I was testing everyday.
The line was darker than the control line. Just like a positive OPK.

I got my 'BFP' as a result of peeing on an OPK because I had ran out of I.C pregnancy tests as I was testing twice a day

I had no idea OPK's could detect pregnancy and just pee'd on one for something to do When I got a really strong positive I was really confused as to why my body was ovulating when my period was due and it was a mumsnetters that explained about the pregnancy detection capabilities of OPK's.

I bolted to my nearest supermarket to buy a branded pregnancy test and I got an instant BFP

Yes OPK's can detect pregnancy, but no I don't think you're pregnant (based on the faint OPK line only).

I almost always have 2 lines on OPK's, which is totally normal. The test line is always very faint until I OV and then it's dark dark dark.

It is normal to get a second LH surge just before your period too. So even a near positive result still means nothing! A pregnancy test will show faint positive before you get a strong positive on LH strip!

Hope that you get your positive hpt soon instead!

Afaik ovulation tests only indicate pregnancy if the opk is a blazing positive. This has been the case for me too.

thankyou all, I've got my bfp! 4 in total haha I just couldn't believe it. my opk was never a positive but the ones I've been using (cheap from amazon) only ever had a line when I was ovulating. all the other times it just had the control line. I'm in shock xx

Hi I was wandering if any one could help, we are tying for number 2.. Ives so bloated not feeling right. I’m due on 3 days..
I did a ovulation test and was wandering what you guys think form the picture.. is that a positive test, I don’t wanna do a pregnancy test yet.. as I’m so nervous it will be Negative!

Hi just wanted to let you know my experience with this. I've been getting extremely faint positive pregnancy tests. So I thought I'd try an ovulation strip as I'd heard about the theory online. An the second line showed up really quite bright. So I believe there to be some truth in it. My pregnancy test line isn't getting any brighter though so I'm presuming it's either going to be a chemical or something else is wrong.

Hello everyone

I have PCOS and have been TTC for 1.5 years now.
I had my peak clear blue a week ago and today tested again and it’s negative on the digital test but it’s a pretty dark line on the OV line.
I am 6 dpo today attached is the ovulation test with blue dye and the pregnancy test with pink dye.

any ideas?
