Hello
Rather dumb question but im going to ask it anyway. I'm thinking of getting pregnant but i am about a stone away form my goal weight which puts me into the 'healthy' bmi range. So I'm currently 'overweight' and I worry about the health risk to baby and me by carrying this extra stone. Also, I'm kind of terrified to get to my goal weight to put on masses of weight after I've tried so hard to lose to have yet another uphill battle. My bmi right now is 26.9

Hi. My answer would be to go ahead anyway. Honestly, all vanity goes out the window when you're pregnant. Healthwise, it's easy not to put on too much weight over pregnancy by eating a balanced diet and not overdoing the junk food. There's no health risk just from carrying an extra stone! In the maternity ward I saw some properly obese women who had obviously been very obese before pregnancy. That's not advisable but they and their babies were ok. A stone is probably ok!

I'd say go for it! I'm currently trying to loose weight and I've lost 12lb since easter. My bmi is currently 29.2 which is at the higher end of 'overweight'. The doctors didn't say I was too big for pregnancy. X
