What i wanted to know is I was due on my period nad had sex the night before. after I had sex i came on my period. But now 4 days later i have woken up this morning and i can not stop going to the toilet. but when i am going its just "dribbing" and then when it stops i feel like i need to keep going but nothing more is coming out. Its driving me crazy have had to run to the loo about 9 times in 40 mins and only one off those was a proper wee!
What i wanted to know is if i was due on my period and had sex just hours before would i still get my period if i had been "caught" during sex at that time? so confused i don't understand any of it bit "niave" sorry!

Hi Dreams, as a veteran of countless bouts of cystitis/kidney infection, it does not always hurt, but mostly does. As suggested already drink plenty of fluids. The pain/stinging/discomfort associated with this type of infection is greatly eased by increasing the pH of the urine so any urianry alkalinser will help with symptoms. This can include cranberry juice or bicarb in water but urinary alkalinsers can be purchased from any pharmacy, don't cost much and tend to work a bit more quickly, IME. Personally I recommend going to the doctor to get treated right away as besides being inconvenient and painful cystitis can also lead to kidney infections if left unchecked (quite quickly in my case) so I always go for antibiotics. I know many people on Mumsnet prefer not to go to doctors.....if you are one of these you can keep trying the urianry alkalinzers for a while but do keep an eye on things. If you see any blood in the urine or have any abdominal/lower back pain, go to doctor immediately.
Cystitis is caused when bacteria enter the urinary tract and this can happen during sex (vigourous or not ) so it is recommended to always have a pee as soon as practical after sex. Also when going to the toilet, blot with paper rather than wiping. Even wiping front to back (as my mother always told me too!) can leasd to problems.
Anyway, this is my experience with cystitis, hope you are feeling better soon.

Hi chelle thanks for your advice its really helpful. I used to get urine infections about 2 yrs agao now. I was getting them every month for about 4-5 months so the doctors done some tests but they were all clear. When i got my first infection like you just said i left it and left and ended up in hospital for 5 days as it had travelled to my kidney i was seriously ill. (so i have very much learn't my lesson) i have a very tight and painful stomach this morning and i have also noticed that i am only going for wee's more often in the morning. Like yesterday again this morning i have been dribbling and feeling like i want to do more but nothing coming out !
I am drinking lots of fluids but i am going to phone the doctors tomorrow and try and get an appointment asap.
