Sorry to hear that, hope that it does work out for you, I take it you have had medical assistance with this?

I am going to be 44 in January and trying to have my first child. I have had one miscarriage and a couple of chemical pregnancies. I'm now at a London fertility clinic, they are going to check out my ovarian capacity and if I haven't got many eggs left I'll be looking into donor eggs. I'm afraid once over 42 things start to look very bleak. I hope you are attending a fertility clinic.

I am 40 next july and have been ttc for 18 months.I went on clomid last month and got pg but m/c at 5 weeks. I have been told ive lots of eggs but quality does change with age...

Hi,
Yes we (Husband) have been going to a fertility clinic. Taking clomid off and on. Have had 2 inseminations. 1 worked, but lost in 2 weeks. After loosing 6 months to depression (unusual for me) over all of that, I am now VERY determined.
I wonder about all the hormones that they juice you up with for IVF. Would that help secure a pregnancy for Insemination.
(cannot afford IVF. My Insurance in the US does not cover that)
Thinking about breaking the bank for IVF

Note to evansg01: I belive that a certain age is not automatically much worse that the year before. All we can do is eat super good food, keep our bodies in great shape (including drinking plenty of wine after every period {wink}) and think FERTILE. GOOD LUCK and keep me posted on what you are going thru.

Dont lose heart girls. It DOES happen. I got pg on second month of trying at 41 and first time at 43. And I was still bf! Both pg resulted in bouncing baby boys

FirstTimer40 · 10/11/2006 06:30

It does happen - keep positive. I had first baby at age 40 after 2 months of trying to conceive. DS is now 7 months old and despite fully breastfeeding (including at least 2 night feeds) am now pregnant with number 2 at age 41 (early days though so am concerned re miscarriage risks and chromosomal disorders etc) Had nuchal fold scan last time and will probably do same this time.
Good luck

I had to peak at this site because I get so depressed about the whole age factor, scared I wont be able to conceive naturally again. I just turned 38 and have been trying to conceive for 5 months. DH has a slightly low sperm count but not too dangerously low, so we are using preseed, heard it works good for transporting the sperm a little faster and sperm friendly lube, which has decreased with age? I have been drinking grapefruit juice for that and taking vitamen C any other options, just don't seem to have that EWCM as much as I did when I was younger that's where the preseed comes in to play also. I had my FSH, LH, estradiol checked and they are all good, doc says bloodwork of a 20 year old and a great supply of good quality eggs, but still not pg DH has had one medical exam after another so it's hard to drag him away from the medical books for bding but I can usually get him about 5 days before OV and the day before OV and the day after, hope this will work soon as it has become the rhythm for us All I want from santa this year is a bfp.
Good luck in your pregnancies you are an inspiration to me!

Hi,
I am 45 and got pregnant when I was 42 (on my birthday!), my son is now nearly 3 and we are ttc again. Not as lucky as the first time, but I feel there's hope for everyone!

Owlet · 01/12/2006 19:16

Hi, Im 44 and still trying for my first. I start a round of IVF hopefully in Jan/Feb after failing at IUI. While there is still a small % of chance to conceive - keep trying - cos someone has to get lucky! I have a mate who's 42, drinks like a fish and is overweight she is now 5 months pregnant - via natural means - so chin up! and keep trying
