Kaz we were at it up to 3 times a day from getting the smiley until 4 days after! It worked though so the hard work paid off lol!

The fertility clinic said it's best to avoid it as it can irritate the cervix and interfere with things up there, she said it's what they advise women who've miscarried, best to be on the safe side.

Be careful lying on your side after as sometimes it can pool around the cervix and not get up there, I'm sure it'll be fine though. I'm sure back in the day none of this was even thought of!! Good luck! X

clairemorgan81 · 21/06/2015 16:40

sorry about your grandma philippa x

Indiedog · 21/06/2015 19:00

I've got my 16 week appt with the trial team tomar, I think that's the last one! The rest are over the phone!

My poor hubby, think I will have to bite the bullet and DTD, he will be surprised!! My sex drive is non existent, poor sod he is!

As for DTD around the smiley time. We did it the day before ????, didn't get to do it the day of as hubby was away, and we did two days following!
I do lay in bed for about twenty mins after with my hips tilted up, either with my hands under my bum or a pillow. My uterus etc tilts backwards so I like to think I'm giving the little swimmers a helping hand.

clairemorgan81 · 21/06/2015 19:25

gen the only time I had loads of days of opk positives in a row was when I had miscarried and mistaken it for a very heavy period, opks can pick up pregnancy hormone but I presume that can't be the case? when was your last m/c x

Marchgirl · 21/06/2015 21:08

gen, that was exactly what i was going to say. I would do an hpt and just check you're not already upduffed. If you missed the surge with the opks you could be pg. I often have a 3 day surge but 5 days is a lot. Particularly for cb ones as they are a little less sensitive than the ic ones. Just a thought.

Does anyone else get really bad pain during ovulation? Right hand side is absolutely killing me atm

Marchgirl · 22/06/2015 06:51

Yes kaz. I've always had it but never realised what it was until i read about it after mc3. I've had investigations for the pain years ago and they never suggested that's what it was!

OP posts:
Kazz2112 · 22/06/2015 07:26

I never had it till i cane off the pill 18 months since but my friend had mentioned she got it. It really is bloody painful. Eased this morning. Still got a smiley. From. Last month I reckon that'll be gone by tonight

Indiedog · 22/06/2015 17:18

Well my little bump gave me, my trial nurse and the doctor a hit if a fright today!!! Scared me shitless shall I say.

Went for the normal 16week appt, had bloods, pulse etc done, and on some visits they get a doctor to come and poke and prod your belly and listen to your chest. Well that happened as normal today, and all ok.
The doctor as A, my trial nurse if they listen to the heartbeat at this stage. She said it's not something in the protocol, but we could. By the look on my face she knew I wanted too.

So off she went and got a thingy to listen in!!!
Nope, couldn't find a heart beat! Moved and poke some more, still nothing! This lasted a few mins! (Lifetime to me), still nothing. I said that's it isn't it?? It's gone!! I could see the panic on their faces!
My trial nurse took the listening device off the doctor, and really started to push around!!
In the end she was right down in my knicker line and she pushed it right under my bump, and bingo!!'! She caught the tiniest of heartbeat! Then tried again, and managed to get it!!

The little pain in the backside wasn't were they would expect it to be!! Baby is really low down on my right hand side!!

Indiedog · 22/06/2015 17:21

So I went out of the hospital shaking like a leaf!!
But it was there, beating away!
I'm kinda glad it happened, as I've got a private scan Sunday and was worried I would turn up and then have them say, sorry bad news.
At least now I know things are still ticking along!!!

Sorry for the rant, hubby is fishing!!
I was even more worried when she said have I felt movements yet!! No!
Phew.
Now the wait to see if baby plays ball and let's us see if it's pink or blue. The way it behaved today, I think they will have their work cut out!!

Kazz2112 · 22/06/2015 18:07

Omg indie. That must've been awful but so glad it's ok. Phew!!!

Just done another opk test. Still a smiley. Its normally gone by now!

Brummiemum87 · 22/06/2015 18:13

Hi ladies! I'm new here...I signed up for the response trial a few weeks ago & this is my first month ttc! I had my first smiley on the ovulation tests on Saturday & I was still getting a smiley this morning when I tested...is it normal for them to appear for 3 days? I thought it would only last 2. Keeping everything crossed that we have got lucky this month!

Here's a little info about me & our situation:
I'm 27 & husband is 34, we have a 3 year old son...I had a chemical pregnancy before my sons pregnancy but my pregnancy with my son was really straightforward. We started ttc No 2 June 2014 & was lucky first time but found out at routine 12week scan that baby had sadly died at 8weeks, this was a total shock as I'd had every symptom going right up until my scan! I then had another miscarriage dec 2014 at 6.5weeks & another feb 2015 at 6.5weeks.
Really hoping our next pregnancy brings us the child we so desperately want to complete our little family! Xx

Choccywoccydodah · 22/06/2015 18:37

Christ Indie!! So glad all ok though. 16 weeks was when they listened in with me too, it was just usual here!! Although I found him with my doppler a week earlier ha ha. He was really low down too :) glad your appt went well.

So sorry about your losses brummie and that you're here :(
Hope you're not waiting too long to get your long for baby xx

Choccywoccydodah · 22/06/2015 18:38

Re smileys, I didn't test after the first one x

Kazz2112 · 22/06/2015 18:59

Looks like I've got a other cycle buddy. Hi Brummie this could get confusing as there's now two Brummies on here! I got my smiley on Sunday on cd14 so looks like we're going to be going through the next few weeks together!

I'm on my second cycle ttc on the trial but third since my last mc. Fingers crossed for some good news this month!

clairemorgan81 · 22/06/2015 19:04

gosh Indie so pleased all okay.

welcome brummie sorry you have found yourself here. fingers crossed for you xx

Indiedog · 22/06/2015 19:09

Choccy, I'm with you, I didn't test after I got my smiley.

Hi brummie, sorry you have found yourself here, fingers crossed for you next attempt xx

Yes, I did have a fright with them not finding the heartbeat! Do you know what, my DD and my pregnancy with her was a roller coaster, high Down's risk, parvo, and more, 35hour labour, and a trip to theatre. I said to the trial nurse, this one is going to be a pickle too, I just know it!

Good luck with everyone DTD. Fingers crossed for some BFPs soon xx

Brummiemum87 · 22/06/2015 19:19

Thank you ladies!

Kazz2112 fingers & toes crossed this will be our lucky cycle...I hate this wait now to see if af makes an appearance! Do we start testing 7days after ovulation? Seems really early.

Ladies who are already having the injections...how have you found them? X

Kazz2112 · 22/06/2015 19:29

Brummie you're supposed to start testing 7 days post smiley which for you would be Saturday and me Sunday but last month I found it horrendous. So... I've decided to go for dpo10 as nearly everyone (except choccy who is lucky enough to get very early bfps) hasn't got a bfp before dpo 10.

Only problem is I have a job interview next Wednesday which would be dpo10 so I'm thinking it may be better to wait until after. But I'm going to see how I feel next Tuesday / wednesday and if I NEED to poas!

girliesaints · 22/06/2015 20:25

Indie, phew and glad it turned out to be ok. Think the Southampton ladies are turning out to be right pains for J & A! Have my discharge appointment on Thursday from the trial. Wish it wasn't over but can't change it.

Brummie, welcome and good luck either the trial x

philippa88 · 22/06/2015 20:33

Welcome brummie, again sorry to have to meet you on here :/ good luck for that bfp though!

Indie OMG... I would hate to of gone through that. I can only imagine what was going through your mind :0 but hey ho, all is well and baby is cooking nicely :) not long till your private scan.. Exciting!! Let us know how it goes!

I find the injections ok really, my oh does them as I'm a wimp lol! Sometimes they can sting a little bit but it's short lived - I'm only doing them on one side of my tummy as I've got scarring on the other, could be why it's sometimes sore!

I'm 9+2 today and all seems to be well. I do keep thinking the worst though and it's really awful, I wish we got scanned every week!! It's my own fault for googling things and reading even after a heartbeat, 9 weeks is a really risky stage. Now I'm making problems and worrying :/
Still having the odd buzzing sensation where you'd normally get cramp, it feels very odd!! I know it can't possibly be the baby so am putting it down to stretching?

Huge msg there lol! Waiting on the oh finishing the washing up before watching Black Work on tele - anyone seen it? Xx

Marchgirl · 22/06/2015 20:42

Gosh what a worry indie. Hope that little one starts to behave itself!

Welcome brummie and sorry to hear about your losses. Hope the trial works for you

OP posts:
Brummiemum87 · 22/06/2015 21:33

Phillipa88 I'm a wimp with needles too but my husband is an even bigger wimp so if/when I have to start the injections I'm just going to have to be super brave!

I watched black work last night, thought it was good! Love anything with Sheridan smith in. Glad I've got something to watch on a Sunday night. X

Kazz2112 · 23/06/2015 06:35

Smiley has now gone so just need to keep going for a few more days and cross my fingers for a bfp!

Unfortunately DH is in agony with his shoulder. Dint even know what he's done. He thinks just the angle he's working at when he's working at home. Anyway I feel terrible keep having to jump on him when hes in so much pain but if I don't it feels like it's another cycle down and another egg passed is by! :(

Genwah85 · 23/06/2015 19:35

Hey! My smiley lasted 5 days started on cycle day 10, I'd had negative tests and a full period since last miscarriage so no idea why I got smileys for so long..... I should start pregnency testing tommorow but I'm going to put it off until next week as still on holidays!

Hi brummie are you doing trial at heartlands? X
