What to do before ttc

Hi

DH and I have decided we are going to start ttc #1 in August. Does anyone have any advice of what we should do between now and then to help improve our chances of conceiving?
I had a mirena coil which I had taken out on Monday, hopefully that will give me a few months to get my cycle back to normal.
We are both pretty broody and have been waiting a while to start ttc so the thought not conceiving for a year or more is terrifying.

Thanks for any advice.

Start taking folic acid supplements. Physician friends of mine in Spain recommeneded starting with folic acid 3 months prior to ttc. I've been taking Boots pregnancy vitamins, which include the recommended daily dose of folic acid, for about 5 months now and while I've not fallen pregnant, at least I know I'm getting some vitamins I might otherwise miss in the meantime.

The page on pre-pregnancy diet is helpful. In short, lots of leafy greens and foods high in zinc, selenium, and folates for your DH. You should become Gwenyth Paltrow-levels of obsessed with clean and healthy eating. Or, you know, just cut out the fast food.
