When you go for IVF treatment, does it have to fit within/match up with your natural cycle - or can you just start the drugs on any day of the cycle and they harvest eggs a certain number of days afterwards?

Sorry if it seems a silly or basic question, I'm just starting to read up on it for the first time

Thank you

Hi Mrs,
They normally start the treatment at the beginning of your natural cycle. With my hospital they put a rough start date into their system, then as soon as AF started I had to go in for a scan and blood test & then they phoned through the results that afternoon with the dosage of the medication that I needed to inject that night. It's been a couple of years but i'm pretty sure we got started within two days of AF appearing.
As far as the egg collection goes it will depend on how your follicles react to the stimulation. My egg collections were normally around 10/11 days after the start of the injections I think.
Hope that helps, and don't worry about asking questions - I remember a time when i didn't know anything about IVF & really struggled to get my head round it Smile
Good luck!
