Unwanted IVF Drug - Follitropin Alfa

My wife and I bought this drug for IVF and then conceived naturally and have a beautiful new baby boy.

The drugs (photo attached) were over £300, and we just want to give them to someone struggling to afford IVF. They are non-negotiably a gift and not for sale.

Their expiration is August 2015. They have been kept refrigerated all that time as required. We realise anyone investing thousands in IVF won't want to jeopardise it for duff drugs, so my wife and I are happy to share a cup of tea, chat so you get a feel for us. She's a consultant at one of the major IT consultancies and I'm a solicitor. We live in Hammersmith.

All the best,
Stephen

As lovely as the idea is, when I was thinking about doing the same thing with my leftover IVF meds I was advised not to. This was due to being liable if there are any problems for the recipient later on.
I ended up donating mine back to the fertility clinic where they were passed on to couples who were struggling financially.
Congratulations on your little boy Flowers

Thank you, both, for the lovely messages.

The clinic won't take them as they don't know they've been kept refrigerated. They have been. We put them straight in the fridge so as not to ruin them for ourselves, and they they've stayed.

I can't see where any liability would come from. Solicitor, remember! :-)

I did this when I had a cancelled cycle, I had full meds down reg, Stimms even pessaries for a long protocol ivf. Prepare for people telling you you aren't trustworthy people said that to me but one lady messaged me and I told her to add me on Facebook to get to 'know me' then we met for coffee and she got me a lovely card and treats! Good on you for doing it and congrats on your little one Smile
