We are due to start ttc #3. I spot for about 5 days before AF arrives. Does this spell impending disaster? Is this definitely low progesterone ?

I hadn't really paid much attention to it before but it's beem happening for a while.

Any experiences and advice welcome. Thank you

Hi pasta i have been off the pill for over a year and i notice i can spot from a week before or 4 days before AF is due, I have gone to the doctors and i am being referred to fertility specialist but going through blood tests first, I have been to the doctors twice and i have been told that it does not necessary mean it will stop you getting pregnant or it could be progesterone based, I am on some of the other threads and there has been a few ladies that have managed to get pregnant while spotting, how long have you noticed that you have been spotting for, I have started taken evening primrose oil 200mg up to ovualtion and have noticed a small improvement

Thanks Rainy, really since I stopped the pill about a year ago. I'm going to go to the GP tomorrow. I got pregnant quite easily with my DC but bled during both pregnancies.

That's so good to hear somewhere! I'm a spotter too and can spot anything up to about a week before af arrives which really gets me down. Did you do anything different the month you got your bfp? I've on cycle 10 now and worried it will never happen

Rainy34 · 26/04/2015 17:41

hope you get on ok tomorrow pasta, let us know what doc says,

great news you got pregnantsomewhere

diamond i have been trying for around 10 months too, wish i never went on the pill, i was fine before hand,

Pastaagain78 · 26/04/2015 17:46

I will absolutely let you know. I also wish I'd never gone on the pill. It was suggested to try to prevent premenstual migraines. It didn't work, I just bled pretty much continuously.

I'm a spotter too! Took about ten months of TTC, but I'm now 31 weeks pregnant. I have always had very long cycles and spot for about five days before each period. I was worried and preparing to go to the GP once we reached a year, but it turns out it's not always an issue. The month I got pregnant I was temping and using preseed for the first time, and had been using OPKs for about three months. Hope that helps!

Rainy34 · 26/04/2015 17:48

pasta i too wish i never went on it either, i was fine before i went on the pill, if i knew i would have never went on it, its so un fair some people come off the pill and get pregnant in the first month, we will get there!!

Pastaagain78 · 26/04/2015 17:52

Thanks everyone x

I used to spot for up to 7 days before each period and got preganant on cycle 2. Still spotted when i was 4/5 weeks and 8/9 weeks pregnant as well. Hope this gives you some reassurance and good luck with TTC and your GP Smile

Rainy34 · 26/04/2015 18:18

Torfhinn thank you that gives us hope!!!

Pastaagain78 · 26/04/2015 18:24

rainy - it's so disheartening isn't it. I wish I'd never gone on the pill too - seems to have messed my body up so much Sad
pasta good luck tomorrow, let us know.
Thanks furry - gives us hope! I am starting to think it will never happen now.
Great news torfhinn!! - so good to hear!

Rainy34 · 26/04/2015 18:45

diamond it certainly is, puts me in such a bad mood when it starts

diamondsparkles · 26/04/2015 19:59

I know, me too rainy, I always feel terrible when I see it. Makes me wonder how a bean could ever stick when the spotting is so early Sad

Pastaagain78 · 26/04/2015 20:07

That's my concern, getting the bean to stick!

No I didn't do anything different the month I conceived. I was using OPKs but had been for a few months anyway.
Just must have DTD at the right time.
I too had been on the pill and had a horrendous time since coming off it. all my hair started falling out and my skin was like an oil slick for months.
then also the spotting pre AF. It was about 2 years after stopping the Pill I got pregnant. I wasn't TTC all this time tho.
Fingers crossed for you all.

So, back from GPs. He was very nice and said it should have no effect on conceiving or staying pregnant. However, he wants me to have another smear and an ultrasound. Until these are done he advises against ttc.

I feel really frustrated now. He advises this because I used to spot for a few days but for the last few cycles it has been up to 7 days before AF.

pasta I had an ultra sound in Decemebr and everything came back fine, i managed to get my appointment a week after i went to the doctors , so you might not need to wait long!!

Pastaagain78 · 27/04/2015 20:26

Thanks rainy
