I regularly get a pian in my side at "ovulation time".
Does anybody know if this occurs before, during or after ovulation has happened please??

thanks twiglett....
just read it back - apologies for the typos's eg pain and ovulation.....
I remember reading about it too, think I'll do a search...was hoping the answer would be "will ovulate within the next 24 hrs"

do you know how long?
it's just I'm out (without DH) tonight, am madly busy before I go out - infact a bit of a logistics nightmare to get out! - only time will be friday night BUT can't have too obvious an early night as parents staying overnight!!!!!
Sometine I just think things are "not ment to be"

This says it could be any of them!

Sonnet · 29/04/2004 12:53

I get this pain everymonth - just one side, but got it faintly the other side too today....maybe I'll ovulate twice - second thoughts maybe not couldn't do "twins"!!

The sperm can live for several days so if you have bd'ed in the last few days that could be enough anyway .

motherinferior · 29/04/2004 12:58

Dd1 proves that gingernut's right!

Sonnet · 29/04/2004 13:01

thanks Lou33 - that description is spot on - it is a very distinctive pain and immediatly identifiable without knowing I'm midcycle - IYSWIM.
Also - thanks gingernut!

isn't it called mittelschmerz? a friend of mine used to have it.

Sonnet · 29/04/2004 13:05

LOL mi - I suspect that DD2 is also a result of bbd before I got my pains.....
BUT - havn't bd'd in the last few days so wondering if bd ing in 24 hrs time will have the same effect???, but with a faint pain on the other side as well this month I may get a second chance??!

I believe it is bundle - honestly it is quite painful - very niggling at the very least and you can't ignore it...

Mittleschmerz- german, literally translates as middle pain ...

gingernut · 29/04/2004 13:17

Sonnet, I get ov apin too and the first 2 times I fell pg we bd'ed the day I got the pains (but after the pains had subsided a bit, IIRC). This time, however, I fell pg due to bd'ing 3 or 4 days before ov (no pains that month but I'm fairly sure when ov occurred). I personally think that my pains happen as ov is occurring (just going by the fact that the egg white mucus dries up straight afterwards - sorry if TMI!). But the books do say this isn't necessarily the case. There's only 1 way to find out . And yes, it can be really quite painful.

gingernut · 29/04/2004 13:17

sorry, ov pain !

Sonnet · 29/04/2004 13:48

well done gingernut!!

tahnks for all your info and help - much appreciated..
Looks like friday is too late but yo never know...

It's weird, I never used to get that but now I do... I wonder is it stronger once you've had children?

gold123 · 08/05/2004 18:28

I get OV pain too, thanks Sonnet for asking a question that was on my mind. I has OV pain 2 weeks ago on a Saturday, but I left it until Sun/Mon to bd, so I think I have missed the boat this month, having said that, AF should be due today and hasn't yet arrived, but I feel that any minute now she will rear her ugly head. So are we saying is that you should BD before and on the day of the pain ?

kiwisbird · 08/05/2004 18:58

I've found that 2 days after the pain is better, when I've done it with the pain I;ve not conceived (and the sex hurts a bit too) just after...
and 2 babies later

gold123 · 08/05/2004 20:08

Oh so I maybe in with a chance then ? fingers crossed.

bunny2 · 09/05/2004 21:21

I have had ov pains since ds was born. When I wanted to conceive when ds was a year old, dh and I had one shag only during one cycle (ds had bad eczema and was in our bed most of the time). But this one opportunity was well timed, it was the moment I felt my ov pain. And yes I did get pregnant (unfortunately I miscarried). So IME bding at the same time you feel the pain works.
