Fixed term contracts and maternity leave

Hello,
I was on a fixed term contract that ended in June last year. During the time I worked there I found out I was expecting a baby and Dylan was born in July 14. The company paid me SMP even though my contract had ended. My question is was I still an employee until my SMP had ended and if so should I have accrued holiday?

No I don't think you would have counted as being still employed as your job ended

As long as you were employed by them when you were 25 weeks pregnant then you qualified for SMP even if the job ended after that. It does not mean you were still employed by them during your maternity leave
