When to test?

I usually have a 21-23 day cycle but don't think I am ovulating regularly.

I think I may have ovulated this month, am on day 23 of the cycle and would be 13 days post ovulation if my calculations are right.

How soon should I poas??? I am tempered to do it tomorrow morning with a first response test but hate that disappointment the bfn brings.

When is AF due?

Snowberry86 · 17/04/2015 19:08

Well it depends on my cycle. I usually go 21-23 days and today is day 23 so technically today.

However I'm not sure whether to wait until day 28 to test- although I've never had a 28 day cycle so it's likely AF will start before I get to that point.

For most people ovulation is 14 days before the end of their cycle ('the two week wait') So day 28 is moot if your cycle doesn't go that long. If you test now, the result should be accurate

Tests this morning with a first response- bfn.

On cycle day 24 which is the longest I've had in a year so just waiting for AF to start now so I can start the whole thing again next month.

14 months of trying and getting very impatient!

Do you know when you are ovulating? If not, with such short cycles it's possible either you're not ovulating or you have a short luteal phase which can make it hard to get pregnant. sorry if you know all this already and are sure of ovulating on cd9 -ish but if this is all news to you its worth a little research to see if you can check and improve those timings and get pregnant.

Snowberry86 · 20/04/2015 13:43

I am not really sure when I am ovulating to be honest. I'm going to try ovulation sticks this month and keep going until I get a positive to see if I actually do ovulate.

Still no AF today...

Well its not to say you didn't coincidentally ovulate around the time of dtd, just it's too early either way to get a positive result. I do think it's unlikely and it would definitely be worth your while checking for ovulation for a month or 2 to find out the length of your luteal phase. Knowledge is power especially if you have unusual cycles. Good luck!

Thanks.

Is there anything I can do to try and extend my luteal phase if I do have a short one?

i used opk's and they peaked on the 7th so i think this is when i ovluated on /around that date..my cycle is usually 26 days long.. you can buy 40 opks online for like a fiver they worked pretty good for me last month Grin

Droflove · 21/04/2015 09:17

Op, I believe there are things you can do to extend your luteal phase and I know there are people on here with that problem who would be better placed to advise but I think you need to check ovulation timing first to see if you LP is actually short before going into that. If you discover it is then maybe try a new thread on here for some tips.
