Hello all. I just went abroad to marry my foreign husband. I used to have very regular cycles but in past couple of years they have been sometimes long and erratic. Day 1 of my cycle was 24th Feb and my wedding date was 29th March. Convinced I would get my period on wedding day I went to doc to get the combined pill. By 26th March when I started taking it, no period had arrived but I had definite PMS symptoms so could tell it was due any time soon. Obviously the pill stopped the period from happening and on the Friday 3rd April I felt a lot of PMS symptoms and put it down to body confusion. So I was so blinded by the whole period thing that I forgot I have to use extra protection for 1st 7 or 10 days if I didn't start it day 1 of next cycle. To make matters worse I got really ill in the 2nd week and missed some pills (which I made up) and was on anti-biotics. Some romance happened in this week though not a lot. Once I left, I ditched the packet with 5 remaining pills as my husband will be joining me in next couple of months and I hate taking the pill. It literally was used to stop my period coming but now I don't know if it's too hasty to do a pregnancy test.

That sounds very confusing but crucially it sounds like your pill taking was haphazard to effectiveness could easily be reduced. You may as well get a cheap test and check now, and again at the end of the month/early May if you don't get a period
